Much too slippery for me and I love the touch of leather.

Would take a leather bumper, don't care if the back is protected, I don't drop my phones.

Question for all you caseless people. When you set your phone down, screen up or screen down? I’ve always wanted to go caseless, but I’m always worried about scratching either the screen, or camera lens
I don’t go caseless anymore, but I used to. When I did, I would always set my phone screen up on top of my leather wallet.

Do you never drop your phone?
I will chime in and say that I think there are a lot of us who never drop our phones. In the 9 years I have had smartphones, I have never dropped one. I have been paranoid and mostly had them in cases, but this time around am considering not doing so- these phones are just so nice looking and feel good in the hand- the cases add too much bulk and ugliness- even the slim ones.

I do keep mine in a pouch if I go out of the house, one with a velcro cover so if I did happen to drop it when I am out, the pouch will protect the phone. It is only out of that pouch outside of the house if I am checking email or maybe taking a picture or two.

I tried it a few times in the past week on my 12 Pro Max and mostly just gave up and keep the leather case on now. I like it without a case (and I have a glass screen protector) but it just doesn't feel as comfortable to hold for longer periods like it does with the Apple leather case on it.

So probably leather case all the time for me, and if I go surf/SUP then I'll take it out of the leather case and ziploc it like I always have in the past (I have a FlipBelt for sports stuff).

I am going careless with my 12 Pro Max. I have for the last year with my 11 Pro with incident and it feels a lot more satisfying in the hands. Apple care will take care of I do have an accident

Been caseless since iPhone 3G, now with AC+ it’s a no brainer.

We pay thousands for a new phone with a stainless steel band and frosted glass etc... only to hide it in a cheap $30 case.

I don’t like screen protectors. I am using a casekoo clear case for my pacific blue 12 pro max. But I don’t like it as it doesn’t feel that I am holding a new iPhone 😒
I ordered the case dbrand grip and their screen protector before the phone arrived, as soon as I received the phone into the case it went, barley had time to enjoy how awesome this phone looks, and now it looks like any other iPhone I have owned, black case blah blah blah, thinking of removing it and going naked, I have AC+ so the new 12PM should be covered for any accidents.

To those of you who always protect your iPhone’s, I suggest trying out going caseless at least for one generation. The best way to start is right when you get the phone. No case, no skin, no screen protector. Just how Steve Jobs used his iPhone. (Yes yes I know he was wealthy and had an unlimited supply)

Keep only 1 case for something like going to the gym, running/exercising, hiking, amusement parks, etc aka places you’ll know you’ll have a much higher risk of having an accident.

Any other place? Bars, school, home, friends house, store, mall, etc - just go naked. Totally worth it and you might be surprised at how much you’ll like it and how amazing it is to use!! It’s thinner, lighter, gestures are fluid with no edges of screen protectors and cases, the haptic engine feels even BETTER, the screen is 100% optically clear with no barrier or any visible outlines of a screen protector so it’s more immersive.

sure, you could drop it and break it but that’s life. Just try it for once if you’re on the fence!

Great advice!
I have always been afraid of dropping and breaking mine, but I think going forward I am indeed going to do this. I will of course carry it in a pouch when I am going out of the house, so it is protected that way- but it would be naked if I took it out of the pouch to use.
I baby my phone, and I have never once dropped a phone in the 9 years I have used smart phones- and so I think I will be OK going naked with mine.

Good choice! But a couple tips:

•If you wear khakis/shorts/basketball shorts/PJs with those large pocket openings: BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU SIT DOWN OR STAND UP! Even phones with cases can fly out. Last thing you want is for it to fly out because you forgot you had it in your pocket

•Never EVER rest your iPhone on your lap while you’re sitting in your car or sitting down in general because it’s guaranteed you’ll forget, get out and send it flying on asphalt.

•NEVER put it in a front shirt pocket, probably one of the worst decisions ever lmao

•During cold climates make sure your hands aren’t too dry because normally our hands can grip the stainless steel like glue. That’s my favorite thing about the SS band iPhones.

Also, you will get scratches, it is inevitable. But it’ll give it character and make it YOUR phone. Plus, after the first scratch you will care a lot less about stuff like that. You won’t really take a hit on resale unless your screen or back glass is cracked.

Good luck and enjoy!!

I am, i've already got a few scuffs and scratches. i did fall last week and the phone fell out of my pocket so that was expected. but i had a few that i'm not sure where they came from.

whatever tho. it's so hard to use with a case.

Is there any concern with the lenses on the camera getting scratched when you put the phone down?

I didn’t feel comfortable laying it down on it’s back with the camera bump, so I purchased some lens protectors, which haven’t interferes with the camera bump or it’s quality of pics.

This phone (iPhone 12 PM Gold) is too beautiful to be in a case. I may use a sleeve pouch or a screen protector.

What about you guys ?
This is the first time I've gone careless. I put on the glass protector from the Apple Store, that comes with a lifetime warranty. They install it and everything :) It is by far my favorite phone and feels solid in my hands. Plus, incase of emergency I have Apple Care :)

I ordered a bumper, and I'm interested in the saddle brown leather case but I haven't seen them for the 12 Pro Max yet. I'd like to go caseless with maybe a bumper, and pop on/off the leather case for travel/leaving the house. Still weeks out from getting a 12 Pro Max though.

I tried caseless with my XS Max while I'm still WFH, but that thing is a bar of slippery soap, so I gave up after a few hours. :)
Which bumper did you end up purchasing?

Won’t look new with a case on it either

My seven plus was absolutely mint after probably 8 months in an otterbox case. Then someone else used it for a couple months. Now I would classify it as good condition. I also have a galaxy s7 that was three years old when I switched to an iPhone that came out of an otter box and is literally pristine aesthetically.
