Heard that 7 is a experiential version of 8, and that 8 will be a great over haul?
And are they going to release 8 this year?
My 5s is acting up, but I don't want to upgrade now.

I still have a 6 plus that works fine most of the time but it's certainly showing it's age. My wife has a 6 that's starting to act up but we're both holding out for the next release. Fun fact I use my wife's old 5s to tether because it's jailbroken on 8.4 and it runs better most of the time than my 6 plus on 10.1.1.

I'm not sure about that rumor but I do know that there is nothing in the 7 that wants me want to rush out and buy it. My dilemma was that after having the 6 for two years I didn't want to wait until September for the 8 only to realise they're releasing a 7S. If you're happy, wait.

No iPhone 8 till September 2018. This is a "S" year:mad: which means same overall design with some internal upgrades and fancy new colors :D

Every version is a trial run for new features in the next version.... there is always going to be a finite number of new features and new technology available for each new release, and even if there WOULD be a surge in new technology, it would still be a standard business strategy to space them out somewhat evenly over the releases. Looking for a "huge overhaul" is only useful for websites looking to write articles that get clicks. Not going to happen, no matter (almost) what is discovered.

No one really knows for sure. There was no major redesign for the 7, which means that they have been using the same form for 3 years already. Will they go for 4 even though people are already complaining that the design is dated and the 2016 iPhones are nearly indistinguishable from the 2014 ones, and sales are starting to slide? We'll only know for sure in September.

Fair enough, but I wonder how many people feel that way. Most of the millions of people buying iPhones, or any smartphone for that matter, aren't obsessed with specs and benchmarks, they want something that looks new and exciting. The "s" models typically have more significant internal upgrades, but it's still the redesigned models that get the most buzz. From a marketing and sales perspective, I think it would be a mistake for Apple to use 2014's iPhone 6 design for the 4th year in a row when people are already starting to criticize them for lack of innovation and boring products.

If I had the 6S i would have waited, but I had a 16GB 6. I needed something better. If I could do it over, i would have bought a used 6S instead

With all the leasing plans, and jump plans available these days from Apple and the carriers, there's really no need to hold out on a release. You can easily get the 7 and then a year later trade in for the 8 or if you are savvy enough even sell the phone, pay off the lease and make some money on the deal.

I'm holding out until this years release. Normally I upgrade every other year but last year the 7 wasn't enough to make me jump, the removal of the 3.5 jack didn't help either.

Will wait out to see what this year brings, but my 6+ is definitely showing it's age lately with every new iOS update.

There are always holdouts hoping the next version is THE one (in this case, that the ip8 is the one to get), but that's really a fool's errand.

Why?...because Apple incrementally updates the phone each year. The days of widespread improvements from one year to next is over.

Look at the current rumors...likely only one phone (either the 5.5 or a rumored 5.8) will have redesign and oled. The standard 4.7 and 5.5 will continue with LCD.

Buy based on what Apple releases this year, not what you hope to have next year.

From what I read, I seen where there most likely going to release a 7s and 7s plus and and iphone x. The x will basically be the 8. I think they said it will be 5.8 inch display all glass. But it will be out September of 2017.

Normally, I would agree with you. However, we're in year 3 of the design and 2017 is the iPhone's 10th anniversary. I think we'll see something showy, maybe a little gimmicky but still Apple to the core. (Pardon the pun)

My 6s Plus is still happy to use in iOS 10. It is still a bit early to say it is showing age, although I must say iOS 10.2.1 sucks Ng device quite a bit, especially battery life.

I will keep a close eye on iPhone 8 and see if I want to buy it, and sacrifice built in headphone jack.

.

I'm pretty much the same. When I got my 6 a couple of years ago I assumed that I would upgrade to the 7. But when the 7 came, it just didn't feel like it offered enough, and I'm still not thrilled about losing one of the most used features on my phone, the headphone jack. Also, as far as I can tell my 6 is performing just as well as the day I first opened it. Even the battery life is still quite satisfactory. I just couldn't justify an "upgrade" to a 7 when pretty much the only improvement it offers that strongly appeal to me are a better camera and nicer colours.

I have a 6s. More than happy with that. I'm holding out for a new 4" handset and am hoping they release it with the 8 so all size options are covered.

You can hope all you want. But reality is the iPhone is due for a physical change outwardly. The current design is fatigued and in need of a refreshed hardware design. If you keep your sights set on the current design, I think your going to find out 2017 is the year for a big change.

If I had a 6S I would definitely have waited for the 7s or 8. But Im a recent convert from Android to iPhone 7 so it doesn't really bother me.

Add me to the list of one's holding put. I have the 6s plus and it is working fine. The cost of phones these days does not justify upgrading every year at this point for me. I prefer to keep money in my pocket and not full Apple's to much.
