Anyone holding out on 7 to buy iphone 8?

i'm holding up iphone 5 because 5s, 6, 6s, 7, 7s have such a small mini steps For me it is not worth it to upgrade. More over, I changed battery myself and it is a strong device. Most likely I will not update to the next IOS. Every update I install 15% of speed is gone.

There are always holdouts hoping the next version is THE one (in this case, that the ip8 is the one to get), but that's really a fool's errand.

Why?...because Apple incrementally updates the phone each year. The days of widespread improvements from one year to next is over.

Look at the current rumors...likely only one phone (either the 5.5 or a rumored 5.8) will have redesign and oled. The standard 4.7 and 5.5 will continue with LCD.

Buy based on what Apple releases this year, not what you hope to have next year.
While thats true, i hold out until I get the features i like, or better, think i need. I want narrow bezels - or none - so i can have a bigger screen to phone size ratio. I like the sound of a home buttonless screen, tho, and not so keen on wireless charging. In all honesty the 7 is the only refined version of the iphone design that does anything for me since all the way back to the 4s. I would like tobe impressed with some brave improvements ...

Heard that 7 is a experiential version of 8, and that 8 will be a great over haul?
And are they going to release 8 this year?
My 5s is acting up, but I don't want to upgrade now.
nope , the next iphone is 7s. dont hold your breath.

The "S" cycle was broken in 2016 when Apple did not change hardware. That broke the entire cycle up.

So no one knows what 2017 brings.
yes they did change the hardware. a9 chip in 6s, fusion a10 chip in iphone 7.

Had a 16Gb 6, was showing it's age, happy to get the 7. The speed of the new home button is worth the upgrade alone. I can't stand the physical button on my iPad Air 2.

Headphone jack isn't an issue for me, always used Bluetooth headphones.

That's not hardware to most people. Hardware is where the phone changes looks. And no changing the color and camera bump don't count.

I just upgraded to the SE from the 5s specifically b/c I'm not wild about the design of the 6/6s/7. Give me a bezel-less 4.7" iPhone and I'm all in.

Bought the 7 as my first iPhone because my last phone was annoying me even though I only bought it in April last year.

I like the 7 but improvements would be nice e.g. battey, whether I'll get the 7S/8 this year remains to be seen, it is said to be a big update. Didnt go on the Upgrade Programme just 0% payments, which I sort of regret since it would have saved me some hassle e.g. selling my 7 to recoup some of the money and help put towards the next iPhone.

It dependants on what new stuff it brings to the table but I do like to have the latest phone but its also dependant on finances.

So they did change hardware and even various things on the outside, but those things don't count for some reason, and based on that the hardware wasn't changed...right...

5. There’s no “wow” factor.

Last, but not least, the iPhone 7 simply fails to “wow” us. It looks incredibly similar to the iPhone 6, and feels more like a half-generational bump than a new model.

This is likely because the 2017 model is supposed to be the big, evolutionary leap forward, but that’s still no excuse for Apple — if you’ll pardon the term — phoning it in with the iPhone 7.

Apple customers are used to much more drastic, exciting changes. The iPhone 7 is conservative and, quite frankly, boring.

Indeed, probably the most exciting news (outside of water resistance) is the first Mario game coming to iOS, but even that is just another endless runner style game.

Ultimately, the iPhone 7 is the least exciting hardware upgrade we’ve seen from Apple in years. That may make next year’s model worth the wait, assuming it lives up to all the hype and rumors.

I'll leave that forbles article here. Bc that's what most people think of the "hardware" changes in the iPhone 7.

So basically just not a drastic external visual redesign (which just simply doesn't mesh with some people's desires for something drastically new and different all the time).

iPhone - original design
iPhone 3G - new design
iPhone 3GS- same
iPhone 4-new design
iPhone 4s - same
iPhone 5- new design
iPhone 5S - same
iPhone 6- new design
iPhone 6s - same

And with the iPhone 7 it broke up that new design cycle. It looks visually very similar to the 6 /6S. Besides the color and the camera no one could tell the difference.

That's what people are saying. I'm not here to give my opinion. I'm not saying apple is dumb or anything. All I said is the iPhone 7 broke up the S cycle. That's it. I'm not saying the iPhone 7 isn't worth the money. Not saying the new hardware is worth the money.

As an iPhone 6 owner, would you argue the 7 is much different hardware wise from your 6?

Hardware wise? No. The iPhone 6/6S/7 are very similar in hardware. The only differences being the dual camera/Haptic home button. Aesthetically it feels and looks the same.

Tbh my 6 is still so good and responsive that I wouldn't not upgrade to the 7 just for the hardware and increase in performance. For comparison, I am also the owner of an iPad Pro 9.7. Yes, the iPad is faster but both are absolutely fine.

So, my next iPhone's main selling point must be a new sexier design. And of course, a speed bump.

My 5s is acting up, but I don't want to upgrade now.

I think I will be holding on to my 6S Plus for a while. I think I have finally reached Apple fatigue as I have little desire to upgrade to any of the newer products when all is my stuff is working just fine. Newer devices will have to have killer features to get my hard earned dollar.

I upgraded last year from an iPhone 6 to the SE, and I'm still impressed with how powerful it is. So I have no issue at all with waiting until the 8 comes out.
