Why the heck would 1080p be better? It has less screen real estates at a bigger size! It's already has the multitouch touchpad; if you use the MBA touchpad long enough without being a multitouch user, you might find it a bit big and the button too small (IMO).

What's with the obsession with the magnetic latch?

I haven't seen any glossy screen, but I never looked that hard for one. This isn't a great screen (nor is any matte screen) great for working outside, but I have to think reflective and brighter screens will soon be on the way...

Guys and Gals,

just got an LG Glossy WUXGA from Bliss and installed it, it looks awesome and luckily no dead pixels...i broke the lcd inverter when replacing the back cover because i had the inverter upside down...so now i have to wait for a new inverter...painful, got a taste now still have to wait again...

I am getting another LG Matte to mod my other older 15". I think i have finally found the exact laptop of my dreams. My 17" is just too big and the stupid lcd falls over and closes because of it extra weight when lying in bed or on a couch at an angle... if the mod is stable the 17" is going on ebay or CL.

Apple are you listening? you have to offer wuxga on the next 15" as an option...

nice design but the current MacBooks and pretty much all computer LCDs have a 16:10 resolution. so theres no doubt the new Macbook Pros would have a 16:10 resolution. 1920x1200 would be nice… but it would be too small for me, my ACD has the same resolution and is 8" bigger!

How old is the screen? and what condition would you say it is in? I have been searching ebay and for a new screen it runs about $180 not including shipping.

Screen is in perfect condition, no dead or stuck pixels and no scratches or defects. It is from a MBP 2.16Ghz Core2Duo that is virtually brand new, it is a matte screen and is from BEFORE the LED upgrade, so if you have an LED LCD it will not work for you.

UPDATE:
New inverter in, replaced and screen is again up, put the cover on without breaking the inverter this time and this glossy LG WUXGA screen is GORGEOUS! Also very bright and amazing viewing angles. Thank you bliss computers! In fact i have ordered another matte WUXGA LG to put in my other 15.4" MBP C2D. Running 10.5.3 and screen was immediately recognized both from sleep and from fresh startup. Thank you everyone here for helping make this dream a reality. If this setup does not die on me, the 17" MBP is going up on ebay...

Has anyone managed to resolve the issues in Vista?

I still get the buzzing no matter what settings I use on powerstrip. And the screen goes fuzzy again after the screen or laptop goes to sleep. The only way to fix it is to drop the pixel clock one setting and then move it back up to original setting (in advanced timing options bit of powerstrip).

Any alternatives to powerstrip anyone could recommend?

Could you link to which screen you used?

Hi if you go on ebay and search for "
NEW LP154WU1 15.4" WUXGA GLOSSY LCD SCREEN/A
NEW EXCELLENT/GRADEA LCD W/T FREE 100 DAYS WARRANTY."
you will find the link by Bliss Computers in NJ, they have 9 available.
That's the one i used and am very happy with. They also were very efficient in shipping o/n and sent fedex tracking same evening. Screen came extremely well packed in a fedex box with bubble wrap. Make sure you don't have any suffixes added to LP154WU1 as they have some saying glossy with other letters tacked on; i can't vouch whether those are also compatible.

By the way, this mod is so worth it. I am selling my 17" MBP...:D

Ok, just got my second screen from Bliss, and even though it did not say it was glossy on the ebay listing, i got the exact same LG glossy WUXGA screen... i was hoping to have a matte and a glossy...oh well, so it seems there are more glossy than glare-free screens out there now at least at this vendor.

I read through the thread and did a search but I couldn't find any information on the Samsung LTN154U1-L01. Does anybody know if this LCD will work for the mod? Also, I have read a few reports of peopls trying the Sharp LQ154M1LW02 panels. Has there been any success with these?

Sorry for the late response I have been away. Anyways Could you throw me a decent price? I have a MBP C2D 2.2. According to the thread I should be safe.

Hey everyone, this thread has gotten HUGE!!! Is there a wiki or something? Or somewhere we can have a list of all the known working monitors?

I hate to crowd this thread, but I'm looking for a 15 inch 2.16 C2D matte screen a well (dropped mine.. onto hardwood:(). If anyone upgraded and is willing to sell there old one shoot me a PM.

Edit: Found one, thanks!

I figured I should post my experiences with this mod here. I want to confirm that the Sharp LQ154M1LW02 worked for me without much of a problem. I saw nothing at all at first, but then I booted off the Leopard CD and \ installed the ATIinject kext and rebooted, at which point the screen was recognized in OS X. After that, the screen was fine and the colors were correct, even in rEFIt.

Help

So I ordered my LP154WU1 from Bliss computers. I made sure my MBP was compatable but when I took it apart the inverter and the cable for the inverter are not the same. My old screen is a LP154WP2 (TL)(A1).

Any help please did I order the wrong one?
