Did anyone get a 12" Powerbook screen upgraded? I would love a slightly higher resolution on this machine. I could make it last a little longer in my life...![]()
I don't believe I've seen any alternative 12 inch screens. I can't image there is much of a market for high-res small screens.
Cheers,
Thanks for the reply. Think I'll keep the little trooper though.
it seems like lumenlab is not selling lcd panels anymore...
any hint??
Let me know how the new battery goes. I think I maybe needing a new one aswell.
What did you use to check the original battery btw?
I am pretty sure my screen whine is down to the screen timing in windows, since it doesn't appear to do it in OSX. I'll have a look at your screenshot and compare settings.
Thanks
Take the plunge, the mbp 15 is awesome in wuxga. Also the matte screen also looks awesome, less reflection, crisper but less vibrant. Both good for different reasons.
I'm in the uk so can't buy from bliss. Is this the correct panel? I have a 2.33 core 2 duo.

Thanks
New battery is outstanding. I get 3 hours on power saving settings and just over 2 hours of constant work. This is versus about 45 minutes on the old battery. BTW, the battery from China was a genuine Apple OEM battery (must have fallen off a truckfor $64 shipped.
Cheers,
Has anyone done this mod with a MBP that has a LED screen (the Santa Rosa models) yet? There's a few companies (Dell, HP, IBM, Samsung, Sharp and Toshiba) that are selling 15.4" WUXGA screens according to the search on blisscomputers.
I'd love to do a mod like this (the res is my biggest complaint about my MBP ) however since the screens are $350-$400 per screen, I don't really have the money to buy a screen at random and hope it works..
I've decided to get one of the new MBPs or MBs and sell my modded MBP. Anyone interested?
2.33GHz, Samsung HD screen, matte, 3GBs ram, 250GB hdd, etc.
PM me to start a discussion. TIA!
Apologies for posting this in the thread, but I registered just to PM you my interest, only to find out that you need a post count of 5 to send a PM. Please PM me if the modded MBP is still available. Thanks!I've decided to get one of the new MBPs or MBs and sell my modded MBP. Anyone interested?

I just completed reinstalling Leopard and no Mods were required to have the screen run properly. I have the Samsung L-04 screen. I am wondering if the others who have had the high res screen working without any mods on Leopard have use ATIInject at least once in the past.
I am wondering if a PRAM reset will break the functionality.
Just wondering if anyone is interested in modifying their PB 15 of MBP to fit a Hi Def display in there. I've had a bit of a look around and I am pretty sure this hasn't been done before (until now) - but I could be mistaken
If there is interest I'll post some pictures and information about how to.
Well, in "preparation" for selling my MBP, and to make sure that I'm selling a solid working mod, I just _had_ to reset my PRAM to see what would happen, as that was the one issue I had in the past resulting in the "BSOD" (Black Screen of Death) prior to installing Leopard.
Guess what happened? Yup, BSOD!!! Argh!
My first attempt was to simply attach an external, and try to "detect displays" but that didn't work. I then botted into Windows XP and that worked fine (although with the same semi funky colors as I had before), but rebooting into OSX the screen was still dark.
I just couldn't understand why my seemingly patchless screen was no longer working. I didn't want to resort to the "sleep method" or some other method that I had never used in the past.
As I looked back over this thread, and read about all of the ways to get this mod to work, I came across jeeb75's posting about no longer needing the ATIinject. This made a little sense to me. Perhaps my earlier tinkering and use of ATIinject somehow set the initial display to be recognized by OSX and it got set into PRAM, and stuck over the course of my Leopard upgrade?
I gave it a shot. I reintalled ATIinject through an external display, set the perms for it, then rebooted.
Voila! Got my screen back!
Of course, now I had to test my "theory". I then deleted ATIinject with the command 'sudo rm -fr ATIinject.kext' and rebooted.
Well, I'm typing this post on it right now, so it looks like ATIinject does have something to do with getting the display into PRAM.
Thanks jeeb75! I owe ya! ;-)
