swapped my matte black iPhone 7 for a jetblack iPhone 7 at my local Apple Store.
Besides the masterpiece of design, this jetblack iPhone is super grippy, like its almost sticking to your hand.

I have owned every iPhone since the 3GS, but this jetblack iPhone is the most grippiest one out of the box. The iPhone 6 and 6S is like holding a soapblock.

Using it caseless, obvious with this design, and have AppleCare+

Love the black and would also like to have seen a darker version of space grey.

So after numerous nights staying up til 12:01am and checking istocknow religiously I finally had my new iPhone 7 Plus MB 128gb two days ago.

Love it! Love the new camera, home button, the speed is like a dream. Nothing to complain.

...Except I don't know if I actually like the black phone that much...I've had a white phone since iPhone 4 so wanted a change. But first impression of the black one - feels kinda dirty? Matte Black is equally a fingerprint magnet as the jet black (just takes certain angles to show). The black bezel on the front also doesn't feel as clean as the white one.

I think the whole new color, the scarcity of the black phones really got to me....but now that I've actually had the black phone, thinking of taking it to apple store and exchange for gold or silver.

Is it true that I can take it to Apple Store in 14 days and exchange with no problem? Also anyone else liking their matte black w/o problem, especially girls?

No regret here. Want Black and got black. I can not do white bezels.

Its will get hot as hell here in Florida if you leave it in the sun for just a few minutes.

That's the only thing I don't like about the black.
Exactly what I was going to say. Put a black phone on my bicycle mount or my motorcycle mount and it gets smoking hot. That's why I have a silver SE. Black can't take the sun.

Did Apple charge a restocking fee for the swap?

I bought the jet black and it looks terrible in clear cases. I wish I bought the matte black because all the matte colors look great in clear cases.

But my wife likes to remind me that if I bought the matte, I'd be sitting here wishing I bought the jet black.

I had a black 4, silver 5, gold 6+ and now JB 7. I definitely think the black face makes it look slicker, and I currently have it in a jet black case, which makes the whole thing look great.

I had a gold 6+ and a silver 5, and both of those got uncomfortably hot if left in direct sunlight for more than a few seconds.

I've just learned for the sake of my phone's health to avoid direct sun being on it for prolonged periods.

Edit: Bah, does it bother anyone else when MacRumors merges your comments?

Get jet

Black definitely shows more fingerprints and scratches than white.

But I love singular- and stealthiness of the black phone (even more so on jet black but I don't like how easily it scratches). Screen, antenna bands, and metal chassis all share common black tint, leaving only the flash as the sole non-black element.

On apps with black background, the UI elements seemingly float on the screen. I have home wallpaper set to black wallpaper and it's glorious. The distinction will become even more dramatic when iPhone adopts OLED or MicroLED screen.

On the white front iPhones, there are just too many tints for my taste. The screen, camera lenses, ambient sensor, and speaker are black, antenna band is gray, and touch ID ring and metal are silver, gold, or rose gold.

Having said that, white front does look cleaner and have that classic iPod look to it. Not to mention matching EarPods and Lightning cables.

I'm over it. Happy with my matte black choice. If I get lucky within the last 7 days I have left of this remorse period and can snag a JB 7+, I'll consider it. Most likely won't happen anyway. Whatever. I'm only going to have this phone for a year anyway. Upgrading when the next one comes out.

I've got the black and apart from a few minor marks on the back already I love it. I can't see the back when it's in my hand anyway and out of the available colour options for the 7 the matte black is the only one I like. And in fact the Space Grey 6 looks ugly to me now and I am already wanting a matte black iPad Mini!

I love my black iPhone 7 plus. I would like to see a all matte black device however. With a Matte black front as well. I think that would look excellent IMO.

I love the black. I think it looks so much more clean than the white. On the white, you see the home button, camera and speaker at quick glance. On the black, that all blends into the screen when it's off. I think that looks a lot nicer.

Hopefully we won't need to worry about white or black bezels next year if the whole front of the next phone is the screen
I couldn't tell you the color of my Note 5 which I have to turn into AT&T today to complete my Next purchase of the Plus. I had a case on it the entire time. Turns out to be white and while Samsung does a good job minimizing screen bezel there is still plenty of it.

I have a Jet Black Plus and it's definitely taking me time to get used to (just got it yesterday). What I LOVE is the fact that it looks like just one piece of glass when the phone is sleep. I love that uninterrupted look. But to me, the white face is better when the phone is on. That's the part I'm struggling with. I'm gonna give it a little more time though.

My last black phone was the iPhone 4 and the day the white iPhone 4 came out I have never owned a black iPhone. With the launch of the 5 I've had the silver/white variant every year. My boyfriend got his matte black iPhone 7 Plus and I got my silver 7 Plus and for the first time since the iPhone 4 I actually considered the black phone.

After a few days of thinking about it, an Apple Store not super far had a 256 in stock, so I pulled the trigger and got a black phone yesterday. I could not be happier with my switch. The white phones do have benefits, as mentioned such as less noticeable fingerprints on the bezels and such. However, the black bezels almost make it feel like the screen of this phone is floating. I also just love the matte black, such a sleek device (and I'm going caseless so I enjoy that). Overall, extremely happy with my ultimate choice. If Apple releases an all white phone next year, like glass or ceramic, I will most likely go back to a white front. But right now, I feel the black 7's look the best this year.

I personally feel that small phones like the SE look best in black (a tight, black rectangle); and big phones like the Plus look best in white (it looks "lighter," and not like such a monolithic slab as it looks in black). Guess it's a toss-up for the 4.7" size... :) (When I owned a 6S, it was a rose gold w/white front; but the new black ones do look really cool.)

I don't regret my matte black at all. It is the sleekest and more "stealthy" iPhone I've ever had. I always craved for a totally real black iPhone, never enjoyed Space Gray ones that much
