Think I heard about this argument back in the days when iPad came out and everyone was debating on what color to get lol.

Now I barely see any iPad in black around me in SF Bay Area. All apple ipad ads are featuring white iPads too. I almost forgot that apple still makes black iPads lol.
I haven't seen an iPad ad in years so I'll have to trust you on that.
Where I am in the UK I usually see a definite gender split. Nearly all men I see have the black bezeled iPhones and iPads and nearly all woman the white ones. It's such a big trend here that I actually find I take note when I see a guy with white iPhone, nothing wrong with it but it makes me notice.

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder but IMHO I prefer the matte black to the Jet Black.
With cars nowadays matte black is the trendy colour.
What I would love is a matte black Macbook pro now I will be all over that like flies on you know what.

I pre-ordered the Rose Gold 7 Plus for launch day pick-up. Had the phone for about a week and was enjoying it, but I could never get over the white coloured bezels. I was so used to the black bezels on my space grey 6 plus. The Apple store got stock of the Matte Black 7 plus today and I jumped on the chance to switch back. Loving my decision as it feels like order has been restored to the force! :apple:

While I'm still waiting on mine being delivered, this is still something I can very confidently answer.

I've owned 1 white fronted iPhone, an iPhone 5 silver and never, ever again. I know it's probably a stupid thing but I could never resolve myself with just how much the black of the cameras and sensors stood out against the white. I prefer that they are disguised by the black fronted phones, they just look sleeker to me.

And as for the black back, well I've been waiting years for them to bring that back, I'd get Jet Black if it weren't so easily damaged and I wouldn't want to ruin its beauty by putting it in a case.

wipe down the back of the iPhone so there's not fingerprint or smudges
Okay thought you meant literally polishing it lol.

I do find the back of my matte black hard to clean though. I need several wipes to clean any fingerprints and smudges. Front is usually cleaned with a simple wipe on shirt

Yeah, or will have when the ******* arrives :D As soon as I saw it I wanted Jet Black but I just know what it would end up looking like. I do like the more understated matte phone, don't get me wrong. But if they ever invent a magical nano healing compound that really works and repairs any and all scratches in that lovely glossy finish, I'll be first in line for one :)

Wanting to pull a trigger on a MB I7. Have always had black phones. What I'm concerned about is the lighting port starting to show scratches early on due to the anodizing coating rubbing off after multiple charges. Has anyone noticed that so far? I've taken a look at the in store models and they're already starting to show a lot of scratches at the charging port area.

Your mom shows scratching around the port area. Amirite

But for reals. Yes it is gonna get all f'd up unless you are a ninja at putting it in the hole. Yes the ones at Apple Store get anally raped constantly by 12 year olds.

At the store today I see their iPhone 7jb and someone has obviously taken car keys to the back of it, really hard. A fandroid no doubt.

But me, I just threw my 7+jb into my 6S+'s TPU case, having cut open the camera hole wider.

Main worry is not seeing my phone at night whereas Gold would be visible w/its white facade. So I'll likely get a white case and go storm trooper.

NOOOOOOOO! I am SO happy with my matte black 7+. I have had white iPhones since 2013 and I am so happy to be back to black. My first iDevice was a black iPod Touch, so it feels like I'm going back to the basics. Plus, I love how matte black looks stealthy and sleek!

Exact same experience! Except my first iPod was a white 4th generation back in..2003? Then a black iPod Touch 1st gen.

But after a white iPhone 4 in 2011 I never had a black phone until today.

Its almost like coming home! Since the black iPod Touch I got in 2011 (traded it for a white iPod touch 5g, then a white iPhone 5s) i have had all white phones so it feels good to be back! I am loving how stealthy the matte black is. Its so much better than the iPod Touch 4g's chrome back lol

The matte black is perfect for me. Love the understated stealthiness. The Darked Out Apple logo is truly badass.

YES!! The blacked out logo is AWESOME! Im also a car guy and I am a huge fan of the blacked out look. The car in my profile pic came with a chrome grille and I changed it to a black honeycomb one. I also blacked out all the chrome I could find :D

I could never have a white iPhone or iPad. It's too obvious the whole time. The whole point of the black is that you don't notice it and it doesn't distract from the screen.
They don't build (many) TVs with white/light bezels do they, it's too distracting from the actual screen.

Actually new TV's have they very thinnest black bezel's nowadays. Do you have your TV mounted on an all black wall? Most people don't. This distraction argument doesn't really fly. I have never been distracted because my phone is white.

It doesn't look right to me and I find it distracting, especially when watching videos or looking at photos in landscape. The 'argument flies' if there are people out there who find the same. I'm not opinionated enough to state it as fact or to say that everyone will agree and find the same but I know for sure there are lots of people out there who will agree with me. Choice is nice, if people like the look of the white bezels and don't find it affects their use of the phone then thats great for them, and those that prefer black can buy the black ones.

I prefer the black bezels now that there are actually totally black iPhones available now. When it was space grey, that color was terrible. I'll never go back to a white phone unless it's ALL white...as long as the matte/jet black phones remain an option. The bezels on the white stand out too much. When the phone is off on a black iPhone it actually makes it look like one whole screen. And the white Plus just makes the phone look bigger than it actually is. I had the white/gold 6+...as soon as I saw there was a matte black option it was a no brainer for me...the design of the white 4S was the best, though.

Hopefully next year's phone will have no bezels and this will be a moot point, LOL

a lot of people watch TV in the dark, that is where the distraction comes in to play.
