Agreed but apple needs to market this current HomePod Design well in order to sell it and not release a "Pro" Model to halt any sort of hype from this great product, This is one powerful speaker that packs quite a punch. i'm actually very surprised by its output and i happen to own a high end Definitive technology home theatre setup with an SVS Subwoofer so i know what true power is but given the size of the HomePod i'm quite surprised and impressed.

As do I. A happy owner of old B&W 803 with matching center, and full fledged theater system I am impressed with HomePod for the size.

BUT “for the size” is the keywords here. I feel that HomePod is lacking the refinement and midrange detail of music. Well it doesn’t have midrange speaker so of course the frequency will not be present as in my B&W floorstander. I’m holding the idea of buying 2nd homepod just because my 1st one sound good, but not great to actually replace a full stereo.

I love its functionality as casual Music player, Homekit Hub and controller. Well I might snatch a second one if I can get a hevfty discount or buying a preowned one.

Bought my second HomePod yesterday set it up has a pair and it sounds great.

Although they are not very far apart you can really hear the stereo separation an obviously much louder than one HomePod.

I know it’s an expensive way to do things but I am really happy with it!

Tempted to get another homePod for the bedroom now too ugh

Might wait to see the Siri improvements in iOS 12 first though

Bought one on Thursday, already thinking about getting another one. Really impressed so far. It's even got me using Siri more than I have ever done.

I just moved into a new apartment and brought HomePod. With just one it sounds amazing but I'm still debating if two would be overkill for a small studio apartment

It’s not about being overkill, but you must remember the limitation of HomePod. You can’t use it for anything outside Apple ecosystem.

You buy 2 homepods for your studio apt, you wanna make sure what kind of usage do you expect? You cant connect it to TV or game console and any kind of box, except for Apple TV.

Are you ready to let that go? If you are sure then 2 Homepods will be perfect to be a sole stereo system in your apartment.

I have 2-Homepods in my office area.......
It's incredible sound and if you think one is great 2 in stereo is unreal.

The last 11.4 firmware makes everything sound great but the stereo mode is what shines.......you won't regret getting a seance one.
If it doesn't work to your satisfaction return it within 14-days....

Even though I have a 4th gen Apple TV and all sorts of other Apple products I cannot justify the purchase of another HomePod right now. I was blown away when I first turned it on in my new place. The sound seemed to be coming from the other side of the room. Your'e also right about limitations as well. I already have a soundbar and wireless sub woofer that works just fine for movies, video games and whatever else. The HomePod is here to stay but I'd have to be in a bigger space with more rooms to make sense out of buying more of them.

I'm at 4 HomePods now, 3 rooms with one of them being a stereo pair (which is *incredible*). I could easily see getting another 4-8 of them to cover the entire house. I know that sounds crazy but for example 12 total is $4200 which for an entire whole house audio system covering a large home isn't totally as insane as it sounds and you can do it slowly over time and not have to outlay the money all at once. I'm good at 4 for now, but I'm sure I'll get another couple before the year is up, in particular if Apple shows signs they are committed to improving Siri. Lowering the price to $299 would be a good thing too.

Like the mentality....but my wife probably wouldn't.
You ever think of adopting a mature adult? :)

I'd love to add more over time. It does add up, but you could spend serious money several times that.

A couple for the tv would be good - we can watch quite bit via Apps TV now - iPlayer etc plus Netflix. And another for the kitchen / dining room. And a couple for rooms upstairs. So another five or six should do it!

I got my HomePod, and I am loving it so far. Siri definitely needs major work, but it sounds so good, and as an interface to Apple Music it is amazing. I'd also like some better integration into iOS - like having an option to always show the HomePod controls on my iPhone lock screen if I am on the network.

I have a few Sonos speakers, and everything just feels so manual now, selecting songs in the Sonos app. I know I can use Alexa, but it is always hit and miss for me. Already I am having issues with the wake word - if I am in any room I want to say "Hey Siri" rather than "Alexa" now.

So my point is, I really want to buy a HomePod for every room now. I think I'll at least wait for the AirPlay 2 update, my main annoyance now is how laggy airplay controls are. I am also considering selling off my play:5 as well. Anyone else feeling the same?

How does Siri compare to Alexa? You say Siri needs major work, and then you say Alexa is hit and miss. What do you mean by hit and miss? Is it worse than Siri?

I have a Sonos and Alexa works fine for me. Wondering what the difference is.

IMO Siri does what she does better. She hears things better, shes faster, shes more reliable with HomeKit. I have both and while Alexa has a wider range of commands she can perform I feel Siri is more reliable as long as you're asking her something that she can do. I don't have any overly complex that I am throwing their way. Weather, a timer, HomeKit, added some stuff to my calendar.

I now have 4 HomePods 1 in the Kitchen, 1 in the living room and 2 in the bedroom as a stereo pair. The sound is outstanding and no complainants at all. The stereo pairing is amazing. I also have a home connected with Phillips Hue lights and NanoLeaf. I love the controls I have with scenes like, "Read in the living room" or "Sunset in the Bedroom" however Homekit and Siri have a very long way to go. What I would love to see fixed or added soon is:

* Ability to include control of music on HomePod within a scene, Like Hey Siri "Relax in the living room" the lights change to a relaxing colour and smooth Jazz plays on home Pod.

*Ability to add Apple TV as an accessory to homekit to be able to create a scene like " Hey Siri watch Netflix in the living room" then the lights change on the back of the TV, Room lights change and Apple TV, the TV and receiver turn on. Apple TV 4K already has the ability to control the TV and receiver through HDMI CEC so it can't be that much of a leap.

Being able to use HomePod and Apple TV as a true accessory would be outstanding and worth every cent for the higher premium we pay for Apple products IMO, and I would like to see this natively and not though Homebridge

And that's all I have to say about that...

*me* I want a third HomePod!!!
*my wallet* ST*U

But I really do want another one :-( and already know I'll want a fourth one when I ever get me a third one... I really like those little rascals...

I got one on release day and thinking about a second. I have a £50 voucher for a uk electronics store and I can get another 10% of through my company rewards scheme.
With the Siri/Alexa arguments, it’s swings and roundabouts. Alexa is miles ahead in many aspects including smart home accessories but HomeKit integrates beautifully with the Philips Hue.
Last night I asked Alexa for the times of the first five World Cup games and Alexa didn’t know what I was talking about. Same question to Siri and she gave me the full schedule

I believe your requests will be achievable this September with the release of iOS 12. The ability of the new "shortcut" system with app and Siri integration will allow the system and any 3rd party app to create detailed multistep workflows that are assigned to a user defined siri phrase that works with any iOS device, Mac, Apple watch, or HomePod. For example you could have a Philips Hue scene and a playlist from Apple Music for Jazz tied together with your own personal phrase, "Relax in the Living Room" and HomeKit would then do both items in order. You can be much more complex and assuming (and its so simple it seems it is "the" thing 3rd party app developers are adding to their apps this summer for iOS 12) 3rd party apps from the likes of philips, logitech harmony, etc. add this support that combined with built in system support the sky is the limit for these new automations.

See the following video beginning at 6:40 and especially the part beginning at 8:50 ...

I just bought my third - now have the two originals as a stereo part in the living room - excellent for such tiny enclosures - and the third to replace one of the originals in the bedroom. I may get a fourth to stereo pair in the bedroom for both music and for the single-source TV (Apple TV).

I bought two HP’s over the weekend and set them up as a stereo pair in my great room.

After listening to several different genres, I have to say I’m not that thrilled with the sound quality. They were fine for jazz music and vocals, but anything with guitars carrying the melody is lacking.

I am comparing them to a Diamondboxx Model M bluetooth speaker, and the Diamondboxx is just plain better with a more dynamic range.

The ease of just using Siri to play music is appealing but for me the sound quality trumps everything else. For Blues and Rock music the HP’s need improvement.

Have ordered a pair of KEF LS50 wireless speakers as a replacement. I’ll try the HP’s in the master bedroom (which is a smaller room) before deciding if I’m going to return them.
