Can anyone tell me how homepod works with Radio? One of the things i love about Alexa is how easy it is to get on BBC radio. Is something similar possible with Siri and home pod?

When you have supporting apps installed on your iPhone. I'm from Belgium so there's no support whatsoever, but I've heard someone in London (where I bought mine) say that it works with Capital Radio because he had the app installed.

I was really excited about the HP, then my excitement declined after some initial review, but decided to get one for my birthday anyway. I now own three, and have swapped by Hive lightbulbs to Hue, to get the most out of HomePod/Siri/HomeKit and I love it!

I really want stereo to use with my Apple TV, have you figured this out :)

Don’t know.

But even if you could it wouldn’t be good because the lag would be so bad it would put it badly out of sync.

The stereo setup I made was only for music. And that works quite well.

I think we will have to wait for the update from apple to get stereo homepods via apple tv with no lag and in sync.

I already have four HomePods, and I love them. One in the living room, one in the bedroom, one in the kitchen, and one in the bathroom. I'll consider adding to my HomePod herd when AirPlay 2 arrives. In the meantime, I am absolutely delighting in the sound of my HomePods. They are much better than the Echos I got rid of recently.

I just bought my fourth HomePod today. I think they’re great speakers, and it’s audio quality and ecosystem integration that are the most important criteria for me.

Costco has them reduced to $329, so I think this is a good time to add. I think there are a lot of folks waiting for stereo and multi-room capabilities, but for now, I am enjoying them individually in different rooms. I also like the way they look.

I have a very open floor plan and one HomePod does an amazing job. I would consider another one if the need ever arose.

maybe. i honestly think that although it is rare for Apple to do so quickly, the HomePods may end up being the exception and repriced at $299 for the upcoming holiday season (combined with airplay 2 and somewhat improved siri functionality).

Can someone answer me this cuz whenever I ask an Apple freak they cannot answer in a dignified manner. So Apple HomePod can only play audio out of whatever Apple approves of correct? Meaning of you have a non Apple phone or TV or Bluetooth Blu-ray etc it won’t play through HomePod because Apple doesn’t want you to?

You are correct. The HomePod will only play though Apple’s devices, to include ATVs. I am currently using my HP’s on both, Sony & LG TV’s.

Are there any issues with using HomePod in the bathroom?

I know Sonos has a speaker that’s useable in an area with humidity, curious how your HomePod has performed.

This is not entirely true. For starters, you can officially use the HomePod as an AirPlay output device from Windows PCs via iTunes, no Apple hardware required here. Furthermore, there are some unofficial (but from what I heard, still pretty good) solutions to use AirPlay-enabled receivers like the HomePod as audio outputs for all the audio a PC is outputting. There are even some software solutions like that for Android, and there are Android phones like the HTC 10 that are natively compatible with AirPlay without additional software. I've even read of someone streaming audio from a Raspberry Pi to a HomePod, though that is more experimental terrain.

Yes the HomePod will still work best when used within the Apple ecosystem and when streaming from other Apple devices because of how well it all natively works together, but it's by far not true that it can only used as an audio output for Apple devices. It works with basically any device with AirPlay support, whether that's natively (iTunes on PCs, select Android phones) or via third party software.

I recently picked up another HomePod for $263 when eBay had a 20% off coupon (up to $100 off). I will definitely get a third HomePod if that deal pops up again.

No issues so far, it's right next to the shower. I keep the bathroom door open when showering though, and I make sure that the curtain on the HomePod's end is closed so spray doesn't hit it. So humidity doesn't seem to be a problem for it the way I shower. The open door lets a lot of it out into the kitchen and other areas.

Added benefit of giving the folks spying on you at Apple and the CIA a nice soundtrack of your pooping.

Only if you make a habit of starting the process by saying "Hey, Siri."

I won't ask for a show of hands on that one.

The fact that it's listening for you to prompt her with "Hey Siri" means she's listening all the time.

It’s a two-level listen though. There’s a local part that basically throws everything away that doesn't begin with “Hey Siri.” Only when that part wakes up does it send any message on the wire. No “Hey, Siri,” nothing on the wire.

I got mine months ago but because I was traveling didn't get to use it until recently. I have to say I'm quite disappointed with the volume max and the overall sound quality. I had two, they let us take one back because it was just bork'd as heck, didn't want a replacement.

It's also not a very good sign that I see the HomePod on my latest Costco newsletter, I think they're clearing out excess inventory. Yikes!

I’m sure the NSA can turn on any web connected microphone anytime they want to.
