I told myself I wouldn’t buy one, but I caved on Friday. Really like it so far. HomeKit stuff is working really well and has fixed the issues I was having. It sounds amazing and I find myself listening to music more often. Lastly, it works much better than Alexa for me, which is a nice surprise. I’ll probably end up buying another and replacing my echos. Siri understands everything I throw at it, even while playing music and talking at a typical volume. I’m very happy with it.

I feel like this as well. I listened to a fair amount of music before with the Apple Music subscription, but now I find that I’ll play more music at home.

No, definitely not thinking about getting a second one. I regret getting the first one. The sound is "ok", but the HomePod is much less capable than my Echo. Apple should be ashamed for having such a braindead Siri. Half the time when I ask it to play music, nothing happens.

I feel like something has to be wrong here. I have never had an issue with Siri on the HomePod and it hears me even over loud music. I have found Siri to be much better than Alexa also, sounds great too.

I thought I read somewhere that the current homepod software only allows one voice to control it. Is that true? if so, it seems like a huge limitation. I need everyone in my family to be able to control it via voice, and not through airplay. Any clarity would be appreciated. Thanks....

That’s not true. Anyone can use it with their voice. What it can’t do is tell the difference between voices. Because of that, only one user’s personal info can be accessed by Siri.

Ahh...thanks for clarifying. Hopefully a big update is coming to bring it full functionality...

I just bought my fifth HomePod. My set up, once the multiroom/stereo updates are released, will be a stereo pair in the living room and then one each in the kitchen, bedroom, and office.

I really love these things. I’m kind of glad some people don’t like them, because the last two I’ve bought have been £250 each :)

I am sure that some significant changes will be coming to the capability of the HomePod. Like DNichter said, I am listening to more music and the HomeKit items are working very well. Sound is great. I think of it like the experiences with the Watch, each update provides more...

The girlfriend surprised me with one for my birthday... I think she created a monster... I want to have them throughout the house now. Currently have Echo Dots throughout the house, but I like everything being on HomeKit. Siri does everything I need it to and I find her to be more pleasant sounding. I would really like a cheaper version with sound quality on par with the Sonos One for 199. That would be way easier to justify purchasing. I think the most impressive thing to me is how well Siri hears me. Had the music at 75% and she was able to hear me tell her to turn it down without me raising my voice at all.

I guess to answer the question.. Yes, I plan to get more but it will be some time before I spend $350 on another one. Make a version for $199 or less and I'll buy two in a heartbeat.

We’re currently building a house so the one we have now is in our room at the in laws but when the house is finished I will be buying at least another one one.
One for the living room and one for the bedroom great sound and will control all the HomeKit stuff we intend to fit.
If I’m lucky I should hopefully be able to pick up some cheap second hand.

Did I jump the gun?

Picked up two from MicroCenter for $299 each yesterday. Confident that the stereo update is close, plus multi-room function. Discounts could get deeper, however.

I cant see the discounts being much more than that for awhile, in fact I have never seen it on sale anywhere (other than eBay) for below $330. I think it is more likely they introduce a lower price speaker than this one being discounted any deeper than $300. IMO you got a good deal.

Update:
Just like Schiller said at the introduction, two HPs sound even better. I believe I'm getting stereo-like effects, and together they are the best sounding speakers I've ever had (have had some Bose set-ups, Yamaha and Panasonic, so not really high-end stuff). This only applies to music played through iTunes on a Mac, wherein I can control and play all three HPs at once, and using the EQ available in iTunes on MacOS. I'm now worried about how using Siri to control Apple Music will work with two or three HPs. I really enjoyed playing any of the 45 million selections with just a "hey Siri play Willie Nelson's new album", when I just had the one HP. So, I'm suggesting people should consider both, playing Willie Nelson's new album (Last Man Standing) and getting two HPs.

When Apple announced HomePod I was in two minds whether or not to get one and I did eventually take the plunge.

Must admit I did recently order another one; whilst I'm waiting for Stereo mode etc it is great to be able to use iTunes on my desktop and play my music to both of them in the meantime.

I’m having the same issue. I almost wonder if something is off with my mics. I doubt Apple would swap it out since it is so subjective though...

I will stick with just one homepod. I love the sound on this but after getting a google mini it just puts siri to shame in terms of what siri can do compared to google assistant.

That said homepod does the basics well for what I need it to do and thats playing music/podcasts and setting timers/shopping lists.

I wouldn't have bought the google mini though if it wasn't so much better than siri and lets face it siri will never get to the level of google assistant. Certainly with what google showed off this week.

Let me just repeat... "I believe I'm getting stereo-like effects."

We picked up a 2nd this week while travelling in the US. Brought it home to Canada. The first one is in our kitchen. The second is in our Master Bedroom Ensuite. Always wanted a speaker in there.

At least until the stereo update is released it will stay on the 2nd floor there.

Now that I'm getting real stereo-like sound, after updating to 11.4, I do see how silly that part of my post was. Now I say that two HPs in stereo is quite a treat. If you don't go and buy another HP or two today it is understandable because High Sierra has not been updated to 10.13.5, so there is no stereo-like sound available from iTunes on your Mac.

Just did - we had two and I added a pair in our family room, fantastic decision they fill the room with sound wonderfully when paired in stereo mode.

This 11.4 upgrade is awesome.......
The stereo with 11.4 is done very well and sound superb. Streaming from iCloud with iTunes match sounds so incredibly good!
(2) Homepods is the way to go.....

Still slightly less bass that the original firmware but much better than the 11.3 upgrade.
