Have an S10 in my hands now, but like everyone else said, will end up back with my Max. The S10 is nice, but why jump through all the hurdles to switch? Max hardware is equally nice and the software all works so well together. Would have to sacrifice too much. Good job, Apple.

Yeah having to sacrifice your Apple Watch and iCloud is a compromise too far.

Things like spilt screen/ picture in picture/home screen layout

Hoping iOS 13 adds that though...picture in picture is something I like and used on S10. The other two not deal breakers at all just nice to have

I never understood the beef with the home screen layout. You’re supposed to find the app you wanna use quickly, not stare at the screen or show off cause you made a diamond pattern of apps to your friends.

That’s, of course, my opinion tho.

Surely the best way for someone to "find the app you wanna use quickly" is to allow that person to layout their home screens as they wish?

It just works, is both over and under rated.

I don't have time, energy, resources to give Samsung an honest try. I just don't feel the need or that strongly about it.

Will be keeping my Xs Max minimum 3 years. I think once I get a Mac, I'll never entertain another option.

I do want split screen a lot but it's not been a deal breaker as I've not switched to android. I do like the idea of simplicity on my home screen, as things are where I want them to be and are organised. However it would be nice to be able to have on screen widgets.

The only think I wish is that the home screen didn’t have gravity. I’d love to have 4 folders at the bottom row above my dock and that’s it.

They probably spend more time staring at the home screen then using apps.

App quality and polish is higher on iOS than Android.

Plus you can order the apps however you like, so you do know where they are...

Same with iOS, you can place the apps in any order you want. But most iOS users spend most of their time in apps and not staring aimlessly at the Home screen or endlessly tweaking their android devices to behave like iOS, to some that’s a complete waste of time.

Don’t really browse my device out of boredom either. I usually know which app I want to access before I unlock my phone. When I am using airpods I use hey Siri to open an any app or switch to another app, it’s quite seamless when you think about it.

I was referring to iOS.

And it’s out, to answer the ops question, doesn’t look like it, at least for q1 of this year.

Samsung mobile is posting a 40% drop in profit for it smartphone division.
Samsung semiconductor 60% drop.
Samsung display is posting a loss.

Strong s10 sales indeed.

Samsung Posts a 60% Drop in Q1 Operating Profit
https://apple.news/Adkqpf79NM_WStrv5js5slQ
“Samsung said its mobile business posted a 40 percent drop in operating profit to 2.3 trillion won (US1.978 billion).”

Samsung operating profit plunges to lowest level since Galaxy Note 7 fiasco
https://apple.news/AEvFJXzvVQUeR1G3XjI1ZDw

“Samsung blamed the earnings slump on a stagnant global smartphone market and slowing demand for memory chips. Operating profit for the latest quarter was the lowest since late 2016, when Samsung was dealing with the Galaxy Note 7 fiasco. Millions of those devices had to be recalled due to reports of exploding batteries”

Samsung is saying 5g, the galaxy fold, and the note 10 will turn around its current smartphone slump. I’m not convinced.

Q2 results should be out by July.

This is true proof that the S10 is a bad device right here. The big reason why I switched back actually. There’s no way I could dare be seen in public with a Samsung if their earnings report wasn’t strong.

With a 40% drop in Samsungs mobiles operating profit, apparently your not alone.

How much did you sell yours for again?

Absolutely. But the big takeaway here is that I really enjoyed the device. But the minute I saw the earnings report, I stopped liking the device.

Yup certainly looks that way, once more according to the quarterly reports where Samsung mobile lost 40% of operating profit yoy, your not alone. Not counting the other posters in this thread.

Good luck with the sale. $300 discount on such a great device with free accessories thrown in is certainly generous on your part, you know because you didn’t have to.

Should be sold soon.

I think as tech enthusiasts, these earnings are a bad thing. We want Samsung to be successful and continue to push Apple. Samsung helped drive the large screen phone revolution, wireless charging, reverse wireless charging, etc. Competition breeds innovation. Between this and the Google earnings call, it’s been a bad few days for tech.

In addition, that’s quite a cheap shot about his current listing in the market place. There’s no need to go there.

Unfortunately it doesn’t just work when it comes to iMessage :
No direct sync when it comes to iOS, WatchOS, nor macOS (Mojave even). Delete on any of these sync does not occur!!!

This can get you into deep trouble!!

Not American, don’t think that applies to me.
LMAO as if to say this issue is American only Lomé. Post of the day!

I have used the Galaxy Note 9 extensively and while this is not the S10, its software is very similar, as is the user experience, with the added benefit of the S-Pen. I would say that if you have invested in the Apple ecosystem and are using Macs, an  Watch, and an Apple TV, that nothing can beat the iPhone experience. If you do not use any other Apple stuff, then there are certainly advantages in using Android phones. For my needs, the integrated experiences that the Apple ecosystem offers, are just too good to leave for any other device. On top of that, with Samsung devices there are the occasional slow downs and hiccups (especially on the Exynos version).

Frankly I’m unaccustomed to the views expressed by the other poster.

It was not meant to be taken with offense, you don’t find those type of social issues pop up in Switzerland frequently, if at all.

No worries at all, no apology needed, from what I understood (from myself or the other poster). Switzerland is a VERY unique community of people and of governance to anywhere else in the world; quite a marvel to be honest. So I understand where you're coming from.

We good, we cool :D

Switching back to the Max today . I love the s10 plus. I love the sleek design and how smooth it is. But man iPhone has the essentials down packed. Email text and calls . My emails are a mess on my s10 tried 3 apps and all have not been up to par at all. Receiving emails with no attachments having to double check that the email was actually sent it's ridiculous . As much as I love this phone . I can't have these things happen.

Solid post. I do want to add that I think Apple had some rising points with their earnings call, they saw some growth in China, revenue for services is at 16% for an increase (again), iPad was sales were increased by 20%, wearables increased by 30%, however, iPhone sales were down 17%. Not bad considering the smart phone market saturation.
