I never had issues with ads

Only slowdowns I had was if I had a lot of notifications and tried to close all the UI just crashed and I couldn’t get in the phone

Notifications was the biggest issue. Notifications never came through straight away...yesterday had one that came through an hour after my max. Nothing worse than 15 notifications coming through at once

S10 is a great phone but a few areas let it down...I had to do loads of different things to save battery and got tired of playing around with stuff. Shouldn’t need to. Some reckon I just had a lemon but not convinced I did or if it was just how it ran...oh well least I tried the other side

Don’t think you had a lemon either.
Atleast no one blamed you for not being able to properly use an s10 as though it was your fault notifications weren’t coming in or your phone was crashing.

No need to compromise just for the sake of it.
When spending 1k on a smartphone you shouldn’t be expected to compromise or go out of your way to make things work, it should just work.

The ads are perhaps a North American thing.

Sales haven’t been going great for the s10, hope you can get your money back if you decide to sell it.

Yeah that’s the thing when you spend 1k it shouldn’t be happening. My max even what 7 months later runs as well as it did on launch day and notifications work perfectly and the Apple Watch is something I love too

looking at getting £900 back roughly

Yeah the iPhone lacks some of the features of android phones but it just works really well for most things that people want to do with a phone. If I switched I would start getting frustrated by the little things that should just work like notifications.

I think the S10 is a great piece of hardware and I don't think I would have any issues with it. However I know I would switch back to the iPhone because it's simply what I prefer.

I just don't have the energy for it anymore. The past 3 years I got the latest Samsung phone and tried to use it alongside my iPhone and every time the Samsung phone went into a drawer after a few weeks. In each case the Samsung phone was great and I had no issues with it. I really like the look of the S10+ but I know what the outcome would be so it's not worth all the hassle.

Yeah in same boat

As great as they look and are it just doesn’t work and run like an iPhone

The story of...it just works!

Is so true and even 7-8 months later the max still is smooth as ever

Even if the max lacks some features from the S10 you can’t beat performance, updates, support, ecosystem

I love I can put my air pods in my ears and play music or podcasts from my Apple Watch..not needing to touch the phone.. something you can’t do anywhere else

Yeah it drove me mad. Even galaxy watch was a pain doing something as simple as putting in buds and trying to play Spotify...had to connect phone each time

Exactly why I stayed away. I was really drawn to the S10+, BUT, my Apple Watch was the 1 major thing that held me back. Sure, my iphone might not have the greatest features of the S10+, but it works, and works well with all my other devices.

What is the max missing from the s10?

Yeah, got to admit though never really used reverse wireless charging on the s10. Useful to have though.

What’s funny about reverse wireless charging, is that it basically took away all my methods of communication. Because I would use it to charge my watch, I would then missed notifications on both devices. Granted, I had my phone on silent because I was at work.

Get that, I can see it being useful for Apple Watch though if it’s going to work on new phones as with galaxy watch and buds you can just use any wireless charging pad but Apple Watch you can’t. That said I charge my Apple Watch at night and should never need charging during the day anyway.

Could see it being useful when on Hoilday maybe if I don’t want to take extra charger...I believe you can plug your phone in with a cable and still use reverse wireless charging so that could solve the issues with it not hurting phone battery life.

Im Back! Had the S10 for a month or so and just couldn't do it. The camera and screen are so good. I actually enjoyed the little things the software had as well. My main issue is sending and receiving MMS from iphone users. I send and receive a lot of golf swings from friends, teachers etc and every one of them uses an iPhone. Glad to have imessage back for sure.

Honestly I don’t know of any. MMS hasn’t really changed, so the quality is no different now than years ago. The beauty of iMessage is that it uses data to send photos and videos, just like WhatsApp and messenger, so the quality doesn’t get degraded.

The downside is that not everyone (my 72 year old mother for example) uses anything other than iMessage.

Lol MMS uses data not the voice channel like SMS. Why has so many forgotten this?

I'm 23 and also do not see the point of Snapchat lol

Snapchat really is for “working girls” and the guys that support or goto them virtually cause their married. It’s another major income for narcissistic females or for females to make another by income under the grid. Plain and simple. No I’ve never used Snapchat yet I’ve seen a few on the bus uploading all kinds of content to this end over the last year or so. Hence the term “check out my premium”

I really really want an Apple version of OSX in a virtual space on iOS just like Samsung Dex! It’s a polished offering and making a big dent in locations across the globe where people don’t have a computer yet can afford USB-C hub, monitor, mouse and keyboard in order it work in full fledged office documents or run Windows 10 or Linux therein.

I love my iPhone and I love the polished mobile focus of iOS yet I just keep feeling Apple is seriously limiting all of us in terms of features every year more and more with very minimal polished offerings and too focused on animoji mimoji items. I want more power and a bit more flexibility in this tech.

Honestly I feel the A10 CPU inwards have not been fully used for its computational power beyond taking photos.

Did the same

Sold my series 4 and got another one a month or so later

I picked up the S10+ on launch day and while it is a great phone, like others said you had to tweak it to get the same battery life as my XS Max. I'm not even that invested in the ecosystem although I do have a MBP and ATV's, I rarely have anyone on iMessage as most of my friends all talk over FB Messenger. Just having everything run right is more than enough for me. I had always been an Android guy making fun of Apple users for as long as I can remember until I actually picked one up and used it for more than a month. Its nice just knowing that I never need to worry about anything and I'm going to get my messages/notifications. Only downside is the WiFi Speeds. I was getting 500Mbps down with my s10+ and my iPhone ranges from 40-300, just one test right after another so no idea how to fix it.

That's my biggest problem with iphone the wifi speed and LTE signal..

My new XR is having weird dropping LTE signals. I hate this exchanging game.

I dunno if iphone8 is better than this X xs xr iphones.

Anyone who invests deeply in an ecosystem developed by one company is a downright fool. This year more than ever, I'm seeing plenty of tech reviewers, many of whom are long time iPhone/Apple users/fanboys, say that the S10 is going to be head and shoulders above any other phone released this year, except for the Note 10, and that they are making the switch. Yet many of you can't jump ship even if you wanted to because you've gone and locked yourself in a prison by buying an Apple watch, air pods, Apple TV, an iPad, a Mac, a hundred apps and a thousand dangles, plugs and connectors because Apple keeps changing things, all for the sake of starting a message on your iPhone and then finishing it on your Mac, and other silly conveniences like that. Honestly how stupid can one be?

Do yourself a favour, get yourself the Note 9, or better yet, wait for the Note 10. The screen will be big enough that it virtually passes as a tablet, so no need for an iPad. It is powerful enough, comes with a mouse (S-Pen) and has a filing system, meaning that the device can be used as a computer if need be, thus eliminating the need for a Mac. And because you will always have it on you, there will be no need for a smart watch. Get yourself a Note device and free yourself of this Apple baggage because that's what your Apple ecosystem is, baggage. Not only have you paid a fortune for this baggage, you have to maintain it, it discourages you from buying other great phones that are out there and you are dictated to by one conpany.

Get yourself the Note 10, put it in your pocket and you are good to go. You will have in your pocket one device that can do it all with a beast of a battery and a terrabyte of storage. In getting rid of the baggage, you will feel free, like a weight has been lifted off your shoulders. It will change your life for the better.

Nah. I’ve been investing in Apples ecosystem for years, solely to them because of their security, the communication between other devices and the longevity of support with the hardware. I’d say my decision isn’t based off ‘brand loyalty’, but the service and the consumer which Apple keeps in mind.

Additionally, instead of investing in the apple ecosystem, you now need to invest in the Samsung and Microsoft ecosystems anyway. You trade off two devils you don't know for the one that you do. Of course, one should do what's best for them, but the quoted post doesn't really make the case of "don't get tied down" to an ecosystem.

The Note 9, 10 and Galaxy phones all run Android, so for most people here is a big no no. People value their privacy and don't want to be used and abused by Google's data mining/targeted advertising business practices.

I just ordered the Samsung 10+5G will try it (also moving from ATT to Verizon If Apple dont do something with the Notch I will have to move to samsong very sorry to do so as an Apple buyer for long time

Have an S10 in my hands now, but like everyone else said, will end up back with my Max. The S10 is nice, but why jump through all the hurdles to switch? Max hardware is equally nice and the software all works so well together. Would have to sacrifice too much. Good job, Apple.
