How many cellular signal dots do you have? Where I live, it's around 3 to 4 dots. I turn off my wifi router when I'm going to bed, so the phone is on 3G. Maybe that's why it's draining more.
If you have 3 or more signal dots it shouldn't drain faster. My phone has an average of 4 dots of 4G (LTE) when it's sitting on standby over night.
I find it only makes a real noticeable difference to standby drain if my phones sitting on a table with 1 dot of cellular signal.
Maybe something else is causing excessive standby drain on yours.

I will do this test again and report back. I usually keep my phone inside a cupboard. Maybe it's hard to get a good signal in there.

2 things to try next time you leave it for 8 hours over night

1) don't put it in the cupboard
2) close all apps down in the app switcher before leaving it to rest on standby for the night

Cheers

Inside a cupboard? Umm why? Lol

I typically have 2-3 bars of LTE signal but I am on wifi when I am home so the overnight is almost always on wifi.

Haha I take extra care of my phone. How much battery do you lose overnight? I am going to leave the phone out today and check how much I lose.

Here is all I had running in the last 24 hours. It's a pretty typical usage except Facebook is a bit higher due to my checking the replies to a thread about my "pup's" 16th Birthday yesterday. She is My Grand Old Lady.

Wow. That is unreal! Do you have Facebook, WhatsApp and the likes installed?
Not really .. it's what I would consider normal too .. my 7 also loses 1 or 2% over night and has the usual suspects installed. Anything more than 6% drain over night is excessive standby drain in my opinion on iOS

Ok I just checked mine, and this time I kept the phone out in the open lol. Over a period of 7 hours and 15 minutes, I lost 6%.

The phone was on 3G though. Tonight I'll check with wifi on.

6 percent is still on the high side. I will turn off wifi and see how much it drops.

Good luck.

Yeah agree 6% is on the high end of normal .. what I would consider borderline.
The most my iPhone 7 has ever drained over night is 4% (it can vary) but it's normally just 1 or 2%.
My Mrs iPhone 7 averages about 4% over night though and I'd say the most hers has drained is 6% in 8 hours if she's left a dozen apps open in the background etc.

Try it on wifi and don't forget to close all apps down with the app switcher while testing, otherwise it's more possible you have a rouge app causing drain.

I just looked it up, Apple advertises up to 10 days of standby for the iPhone 7 (under ideal circumstances I guess). That translates into 0.42% per hour. So losing 1-2% battery over night is not realistic, even by Apple's Marketing numbers.

Another observation: I didn't touch my iPhone for 10 hours, went from 52% to 45%. The day before, I did the exact same thing, only this time I charged it to 100% before. Only lost 1% in that case, dropping to 99%.
Maybe this explains some of the inconsistency we see in this thread.

Oh yeah! If you guys are going to bed with 100% battery, it'll only lose 1 or 2% overnight. It's really slow to go from 100 to 90%. After that it speeds up.

Yes, mine is 100% when I go to bed.

I left mine on LTE last night and got an interesting result, somewhat proving the fact that it's slow to discharge initially.

There we go! It takes forever to drop to 99%. You should try leaving it overnight at around 70%.

Yeah if I leave mine at 70% then it's 68% the next morning ... fact! Do I have to god damn video it for 8 hours to prove it on here lol

Regardless of apples marketing ., if I leave my iPhone 7 over night it only loses 1 or 2% battery and others on this forum have experienced the same. If I leave it on 100% it drops 0% over night as the first 1% From 100% to 99% is equivalent to 5 or 6% actual.
Anyway According to Apple it should lose just over 3% in 8 hours on standby going by the 0.42% per hour formula. Mine averages 2% and my Mrs averages 4% over night, so I guess mines slightly better than it should be and hers is slightly worse, either way I'm right in saying that anything over 6% drain over night is not typical.
Cheers

Not gonna . I am perfectly happy with my battery and of course smitten with the phone itself. Lol

I think you should get the 7 Plus but not for the battery, for all the other reasons mentioned in this thread and elsewhere. If you don't, no big loss the 7 is an excellent device. My launch day 7 certainly was.

Good luck on decision making.
