As a videographer myself, the 16 Pro/Pro Max are definite no brainers. LOG/ProRes video recording and external ssd recording are huge gamechangers [i have a 4TB self-made SSD that does this well, meaning i can keep my phone at 256GB instead base]. 4K 120 also is an added bonus, as i shoot pro res on my main rig which costs a lot more... this is a huge addition that i can utilize in my workflow.

For the extra 200$ [base spec phones], that's a lot of features you'd get [that even on modern cameras you'd have to fork out an extra 1.5-2.5k+ for that functionality. If anything 16 and 16 Plus are expensive and the Pro/Pro Max is much more better value.

You do know they will raise the price of the non-Pros.

I need to stop reading the forums.
I guess that’s kind of my point. I will and do pay more for things with features that I enjoy or find beneficial.

Camera button? Sure pay more it’s a new feature. New screen tech like mini led, sure pay more. Bigger camera sensors (not really new tech but an upgrade nonetheless) pay more.

AOD and 120Hz are pretty much standard across most phones these days. They are not new features or tech. So they should be standard.

One does not applaud the Tenor singer for simply clearing his throat.

No, I haven’t bough one. Don’t need one. My 15 Pro Max is going strong.
15 Pro Max is more than sufficient, even people locally have been asking me if its worth the yearly upgrade i said don't be silly, theres not much diff... I mean you should be able to get 4-5 years easily out of it.
And the chip is way more efficient/potent in comparison say to the 11 Pro Max (A13 Bionic] which i came from to the 16 Pro Max.

Agreed. I’m kind of at the point where I don’t need or want yearly upgrades or the latest and greatest anymore.

The iPhone 16 has received a significant upgrade already.
At this point put everything the Pro has and kill the Pro line.
Yes and no. I don’t mind a Pro line. Give the Pro camera control and leave it off the 16 non pro. I just don’t think AOD and 120Hz are features that separate or distinguish Pro vs non pro

Just don’t buy it. Don’t be a “Debbie downer” on those who did. Everyone has a right to spend their money on what they want.
Easy there buddy. I never said it was a bad phone or told people what to do with their money. I don’t care what people do.

I just want Apple, a company whose products I enjoy, to do better.

AOD and 120 Hz refresh rates are not Pro features. They both should have been included in the IPhone 16/16 Plus models. Apple needs to stop gimping their “lower end” phones. At $800, they both need AOD and 120hz.

Regardless of wether or not you can tell the difference between 60 vs 120 or you don’t use AOD, these are both standard features these days.

Vehicles in Az come with air conditioning. It’s not a “Pro” feature. Leather seats are a ”Pro” feature. 30 years ago, air conditioning was an upgrade. Now, it comes standard.

Apple withholding basic features like these is the kind of thing that is driving me away from Apple products.

Discuss….

I get your point but air conditioning in cars was not an upgrade 30 years ago. I bought my first car brand new 40 years ago and air conditioning was standard. Air conditioning was pretty much standard in the 70’s.
30 years ago was 1994.

I see what you are saying, but you should vote with your $$$ to get what you want. Of course Apple wants you to buy a more expensive model, but they offer less expensive models for sale as well. Apple, for all it's secrecy has a ton of data, imo, backing up what it should include as options/features in it's phones. Those who think they are gimping have multiple other choices.

You mentioned air conditioning. Car sales people want you also to buy the most expensive cars as well. Air conditioning 30 years ago in 1990 was standard. It wasn't standard 50 years ago. My first two cars did not have air conditioning. Tech has a trickle down effect to continue with cars. Lower end cars today have features found only on luxury models 20 years ago.

I expect AOD and 120 mz or more to be standard in the future.

I don’t think we needed a technical analysis of when ac in cars became standard.

Regardless, it just reaffirms my point.

Also, in 1994 I was 18 so there’s that.

If you want all these items, get the Pro's because that is what you are asking for. Problem solved. There are 2 tiers of phones. Sorry you do not like it but it is reality. Whining about it because you don't want to spend the extra money doesn't make it a problem.

Apple should give you features in products that they created / made up and positioned cheaper? And if they didn’t have that standard iPhones, would you be even saying this?

Mad. Why aren’t people more open minded.

Apple don’t need to do anything! They created those products.

yes when I'm on location filming a music video or commercial with my professional grade iPhone Pro it's very important that I watch the footage at 120hz. Professionally.
It's shot in 59.94, but watching it at 120 tastes better.

Don’t need too. I already have a Pro 15 max. It’s not about the money. I can afford to buy any phone I want outright. It’s not about Apple charging more for Pros. It’s about using standard features on most phones as the distinguishing point separating the non pros from the pros.

It goes to a larger point about where I think Apple is at as company - but that’s a topic for discussion at another point😂

I don’t have a problem with having higher end models. I’ll pay more for higher end models. I just don’t see AOD and 120Hz as a higher end feature these days. AOD and 120 come on most base model phones these days.

I think it speaks to a larger point about where I believe Apple is at as a company today. That’s a topic for a different discussion though😂.

I have at different times, but that’s when I have been comparing cell service providers coverage areas. I’m not really a two phone person.
I'm not a two phone person either.

Starting a thread like this maybe there are two outcomes. 1) Apple sees what public sentiment is and makes some changes based on public sentiment. This is not very likely. 2) People claim to vote with their $$$ and Apple will lose sales. This is much more likely.
