Since im working with motion 120hz is the bare minimum for a pro display..but im not working on my phone so its a weird thing

yes when I'm on location filming a music video or commercial with my professional grade iPhone Pro it's very important that I watch the footage at 120hz. Professionally.
It's shot in 59.94, but watching it at 120 tastes better.
If you‘re shooting professionally on a professional filming location, why aren’t you using Professional camera gear and doing it right!😂

Having features on some models and not having them on others is called product segmentation. Every manufacturer does it. Some of us disagree with which features are included and excluded from different products, but that's always the way it goes.

If a camera manufacturer offers two similar lenses but one has a faster maximum aperture than the other, then they are providing different products at different price points for different buyers. But complaining that the less expensive lens doesn't have all the features as the more expensive one is just silly. I don't buy a base model kit lens expecting pro features and quality, and the same goes with computers and phones.

Just out of curiosity do you live in a area that gets a lot of snow and gets very cold because that ev won’t be much use to you in the winter
Nope - very warm year around So Calif.

Never see range loss here even when the rest of the country is freezing.

EV's do best in warmer climate.

The difference is, I expect the faster lens to be more expensive. It’s a better lens. AOD and 120Hz in my opinion as well as other phone manufacturers put AOD and 120 on their base model and mid tier phones. They are not “pro” features. They are standard features these days.

Apple is free to do whatever they want. I’m as pro-capitalistic as the next guy I just disagree with them on these two features being limited to the pro models.

As someone who doesn't care in the least about those two features, I'm fine that they're missing from some models. Different strokes. You buy the phone with the features you want, but don't expect all the phones to have all the features.

This is the equivalent argument of, “I don’t care if the government spies on my iCloud account because I have nothing to hide.” Whether you use them or not, just because you don‘t care for them, they should be on the base models. They are not pro features.

Really specious argument that conflates your personal desires for certain features with privacy protection and the government spying on your data. I don't know how anyone can think these are remotely comparable.

Just because you or anyone outside of Apple think a certain feature "should be on the base models" doesn't matter. It's how they segment their products in the market. Buy the phone with the features you want.

They're not Pro features, but Apple wants to milk it.

When iPhone XS had two rear lenses, the iPhone XR only had one. When iPhone 11 Pro finally got three, iPhone 11 was updated to two lenses.

60Hz is borderline unacceptable today, sort of how single rear lens was borderline unacceptable in 2018.

Single cam might make a comeback with slim ultra

The point was, because YOU don’t care for 120hz and AOD, you don’t care if they are included in the base models. You should want Apple to do better, I do.

I do buy the products I want. Hence why I don’t own a base model IPhone.

Apple may see this and include these features into the future, for a small base price increment. (Was there an expectation of adding a feature set without an increase in price)

'Pro' is just branding, a way to get people to buy the 'real' iPhone in stead of the gimped basic one. It's a classic sales technique.

That's the only reason (AOD) why I had to upgrade from my loved 14+ with the longest battery life to a 16 Pro.

My new EV car needs AOD for the phone to unlock it....

If my EV didn't need AOD then I'd keep the 14+....
Pray do tell sir, madam, why dost thou electric chariot need thine device to be always on? 🧐
Or did you use this argument to convince your significant other you truly needed a Pro iPhone? 😋
Curious minds want to know.

Man, I must be the only person that thinks a dedicated button to camera control since cameras are one of the main features on iPhone is awesome. I like the placement of it, functionality seems cool, and I’m excited to try it out and have it next year on 17 Pro Max.

FYI - the placement of the camera control button is to subtly get you to start taking landscape spatial photos and videos for the emergence of Apple Vision as it grows in the coming years. If you didn’t know or realize that, now you do.

I get your point but air conditioning in cars was not an upgrade 30 years ago. I bought my first car brand new 40 years ago and air conditioning was standard. Air conditioning was pretty much standard in the 70’s.
30 years ago was 1994.
I do remember A/C as an optional upgrade on the Honda Accord DX back as late as 1988. A/C was not “pretty much standard” in the 1970’s, but it was prevalent on mid level trim and upper trim levels. Hell, I remember when a sunroof was an aftermarket option for a lot of cars, not something the factory installed.

I don’t care about 120 hz. I don’t care about AOD. If they were to add them to base models I would be disabling them first thing to save battery life. It would mean extra hassle for me when setting up. It would especially piss me off because it would add cost for features I couldn’t care less about. You need 120 hz and AOD there are Pro’s for that. For me base models is “Pro” because it doesn’t have all that extra crap and it’s lighter. I hope they go back to base models with “worse” cameras and remove that hideous camera bump. Also remove Camera Control. Make price little less. Perfect.
The 120 hz doesn’t affect battery that much as it is variable down to 1hz

It's called ProMotion, and only appears in products with Pro in the name. This is a marketing decision. The iPad got ProMotion way earlier than the iPhone and it still only appears on the top-of-the-line iPads.

AOD and 120 Hz refresh rates are not Pro features.
“Pro” does not mean professional. It is now just a marketing term to make a more expensive version of a product appear more alluring. “Pro” is just a sticker label that is used as an excuse to charge more money. Companies (including Apple) select features that people will pay extra for, lump them all together, put a “Pro” label on it and charge more money.
