I reset my AppleID p/w.
I've got 2 factor auth on.
When I login in to "Manage My Apple ID" it says,
"An Unknown Error Occurred"

Can sign into iCloud, but can't sign into iMessage on any devices b/c can't generate passcode for 2 factor.
Very frustrating.

Dear loyal customer,

Please pick "the right time" for us to plan to have our servers accidentally fall over, by selecting and submitting the attached survey, and we'll ensure we book you a downtime slot, and will push it to you iCal for you (in advance of the outage, not just after it) so that we ensure the sporadic, unforeseen errors won't ever affect you.

Your sincerely, Tim Cook.

Apple ID issues still remain for me, "Unknown Error Occurred", 6:21 PM PT. Very annoying, Apple show all systems green.

You shouldn't need a generated passcode to sign into iMessage even with 2 factor on. Sign in with your normal iCloud username and password and then choose which device to receive the 4 digit PIN. From what I've seen the 4 digit PIN still works, only the Manage Apple ID page is broken (still).

A recent updated made it so you needed to generate a temporary password for Messages and FaceTime. To do this you'd need to log into the AppleID page, which is down.

Le sigh.

I'm still not sure I understand the problem. If it works like all other Apple things that use two-step authentication, Apple texts you a code when you try to log in and you enter that code at the prompt. Other than turning on two step to begin with or generating an app password for third party programs and apps, I've never needed to log in to My Apple ID to get past the two step authentication.

That doesn't excuse the fact that the Apple ID page is still broken though.

You're absolutely correct in how it works. However, this morning the text system was spotty or unavailable. And for some reason, two step authentication was not working either. Even when I logged in to the site to re-issue a new recovery key, the newly generated one was not working for a while.

Normally I wouldn't have cared so much, but I restored my phone late last night to unlock it, and woke up to a useless device due to inability to authenticate. It's mostly just bad timing, but frustrating nonetheless.

Logged into which site? You can log in to the appleid.apple.com site? I'm still getting the "unknown error" message even now.

Yes - I was on that page this morning and it was extremely hit-or-miss (mostly miss) for getting a code sent to the device I chose. It took me a half dozen tries to get the phone to take my recovery key.

Wow, I would not want to be the guy that brought down the global iTunes Store... I can guarantee you they know exactly how much money the downtime cost them.

I still have problems connecting with feedback assistant. Now wondering whether it's an Apple issue or something in my setup.

Seems like all of my iCloud email accounts are not working correctly. I have emails that I sent to my other iCloud accounts that are showing up hours to a full day later.

I tested this by sending the same emails to some of my Gmail accounts and those showed up instantly.

Interesting, or maybe not.

While this outage was happening, I was trying to update the Microsoft Remote Connection app, and that's when I couldn't log in. Well, now the app shows that it's not finished downloading, and I can't seem to get it to finish.

I deleted it, emptied the trash, and tried to have it re-download, and it STILL shows as not finished.

Is there a way to fix this?

Thanks all!
