Been down all day for me here in UK. Still down now.
Cannot stream any media from iTunes, nor update apps, as cannot connect.

Good job I bought an Amazon Fire tv last weekend, so have lots of free Amazon Prime shows lined up to watch.:)

I'll say this for Tim, lotta firsts under him ....
Like a, um, "internal DNS error". Yeah. That's what it is.

Also, Tim will fire NO ONE because of this, so look for it,
or something as big as this, to happen again very, very soon.

Ironically when I go there I get a page not found error.

I have stated before one concern I have with a curated ecosystem is the problem of a single point of failure with widespread consequences. Where's the fail over, anyway?

When we do a mission critical task we use the buddy system to prevent stupid problems. Perhaps when doing DNS adjustments of any kind, which propagates worldwide almost instantly and resolves slowly, a buddy system is justified.

Very odd - I got briefly into iTunes and downloaded parts of the album, 2 tracks until it failed again...

Seems to be back now on East coast of US, download of tracks completed...

Didn't you post basically the same thing a few hours ago?

Thanks for enlightening us twice in the same day. With much appreciation,

The current error message for me is:

And it has been changing from time to time. With a DNS error, you wouldn't normally expect the error screen to change over time, it either reaches the server and works and doesn't reach it with a given error. Odd.

There's more than one server that is involved in providing a specific service. The server that actually provides the data would not be the one that handles the passwords/logins, etc. With a DNS problem, it is possible that various servers are reachable or not while they try to fix the problem - hence the changing error messages.

came on to ask for help with the "cannot connect to itunes store" and saw this, glad it wasnt just me

Then what do you think what it was instead? Tim Cook tripping over the cable? You have no idea what "DNS" means and how it works, right?

And people can complain about Tim Cook all they want - as long as he doesn't release an iPhone with a messed-up antenna design and tells me that I am "holding it wrong" when it doesn't work, he will remain my favorite Apple CEO ever.

All my services are back up and running here in SoCal. Quite funny when I tried to download app updates this morning and it wouldn't work.

Someone is getting their head chopped off today.
