Blah blah blah

Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah.

What processor does it have? That might settle whether or not this is real. Come on, tell us!!

The wife and I have already decided to leave Sprint this year and go with the iPhone, despite AT&T's rep. Seeing the new design (if real) of the iPhone makes the decision that much easier. I love the new look, seams or no seams. I ain't buying the thing to show it off to people - I'm buying it for the quality and the OS.

why don't you wait till the refresh and see if verizon gets the iPhone

If Apple doesn't remove it. . . it's not real.

If apple does get it removed then it is real. They would have pretty much confirmed it by taking it down. If it was fake then they would have no reason to remove it. It's a no-win situation here for apple.

Perhaps the guy who took this thing was the one who snapped the iPad. Maybe he saw the phone nearby, grabbed it and ran.

That is the most plausible circumstance, given today's technology

Being a prototype, it was likely wiped by Apple's corporate remote wipe feature and not MobileMe. Therefore, they know which employee lost it.

You know Jobs has to be furious.

I'm more in favor of this circumstance, just because of the awkwardness:
Venue: Monday morning recap for all iPhone prototype testers
Jobs: OK, everyone pull out your iPhone HD and hold it up in the air.
(everyone raises hands with iPhone HD)
Except Ted in the back of the room.
Jobs: Ted, you're fired. We will not be providing any career services for you. You are not allowed to purchase any Apple product ever again. Go Away. Forever.

So what was up with the initial report of it being 80 GB capacity? Did someone actually SEE this? When they open the phone up, can't they see the flash chip and capacity?

I sure hope it's at least 64 GB - 80 GB would make me drool.....

Tony

Why? The iPad hype is gone, apple doesn't appear to have anything between now and WWDC coming out. They need something new to hype and the next product to be refreshed is the iPhone. This is free advertising of their products, which since at this point would be a prototype, may not even be the final product.

It gives the competition a two month head start to copy it. Two months in technology is significant, very significant.

has anyone thought that maybe since this is a prototype apple needs to have the lines there for quick access to the battery since they are still testing everything, but the final product will have the same non-user replaceable battery???

Too funny!!!!!! All those people making pompous declarations of how this wasn't Apple's design language, etc. have to eat some serious crow now.

Personally, I thought it was very ugly and plain--just like the unibody MBPs. So it seemed entirely possible it could be from Apple. They have been trending towards more and more stripped down and dreary designs. Even their iPad has that ugly, boneheaded bezel which nobody uses to hold it with.

Well, as ugly as it is, it's entirely possible I may get one when it comes out, strictly for its functionality. Apple design, R.I.P.

i thought a portion of the "apple tax" was design. I like the unibody MBPs, i like the iPad. This design is years behind.

Apple master of viral advertising

Apple leaked this device on purpose knowing full well that it would create buzz and get them heaps of free "advertising" in the Worlds newspapers. They do it every time and Mac Rumors et al. take the bait - always.

Kinda sad ...

If this is the "real deal," I'm not totally sold on the design. It has, however, grown on me a bit after seeing the high quality pics and videos over at Gizmodo. I was also looking forward to a larger screen like the HD2. I must also say that I really like the look of the back on this device - almost like a black onyx.

That case design looks like a step backwards imo :-\

This could be a prototype case where they are able to test the hardware/software, where the actual design hasn't been finalized yet.

I wonder if this is a PR stunt by Apple. It certainly will get the hype train moving....

If it is real I think the design is disappointing.

The glass-like back is cool but the overall device looks rather clunky.

I was hoping the next gen iPhone would be much thinner - like the iPod Touch - the sides of the device just look out of sync - not very Apple at all.

When it was said that this was a Chinese replica yesterday I was not surprised.

I give praise to Gizmodo for having bawls and spilling the beans. Engadget never would have. Props to Gizmodo :D

I think it looks great!

All you people saying 'this is just a prototype it won't look like this at all' are wrong. There may be some very subtle changes, but this is how the next iPhone will look. The announcement/launch is most likely around 2 months or less away and Apple needs to have the design finished, tested and manufactured by that point. This is how the next iPhone will look.

I remember everyone crying about how UGLY the 3G was compared to the 2G, and then they all went and bought one. Now the 3G and 3GS are 'beautiful' and this is ugly.

Watch now as Jobs orders the new iPhone to reuse the old case once again out of spite. :D

glad you are in the minority with your thinking. Apple makes some of the cleanest designed products in the industry.

Interesting...

Apple hasn't resorted to the usual Cease and Desist? Maybe they've learned that doing so only validates the Rumor Sites findings?

or

Apple just put out an early prototype to get their competitors scrambling while Uncle Steve launches an even more feature-rich version on the release date?

ROFL! :D

This actually is thinner than the current iPhone.... Read the article.

Love the look of it. Looks like a serious phone, and not the Fisher Price molded plastic that is the current iPhone.

Im Still quite undecided if it is real or not. I read good arguments from both sides.....ahh i guess we will have to wait and see
