The wife and I have already decided to leave Sprint this year and go with the iPhone, despite AT&T's rep. Seeing the new design (if real) of the iPhone makes the decision that much easier. I love the new look, seams or no seams. I ain't buying the thing to show it off to people - I'm buying it for the quality and the OS.
If Apple doesn't remove it. . . it's not real.
Being a prototype, it was likely wiped by Apple's corporate remote wipe feature and not MobileMe. Therefore, they know which employee lost it.
You know Jobs has to be furious.
Why? The iPad hype is gone, apple doesn't appear to have anything between now and WWDC coming out. They need something new to hype and the next product to be refreshed is the iPhone. This is free advertising of their products, which since at this point would be a prototype, may not even be the final product.
That case design looks like a step backwards imo :-\
Again, there were 200 field testers for the original model. Those here who say production models would not be given out, are historically incorrect.
I'm more in favor of this circumstance, just because of the awkwardness:
Venue: Monday morning recap for all iPhone prototype testers
Jobs: OK, everyone pull out your iPhone HD and hold it up in the air.
(everyone raises hands with iPhone HD)
Except Ted in the back of the room.
Jobs: Ted, you're fired. We will not be providing any career services for you. You are not allowed to purchase any Apple product ever again. Go Away. Forever.
Too funny!!!!!! All those people making pompous declarations of how this wasn't Apple's design language, etc. have to eat some serious crow now.
Personally, I thought it was very ugly and plain--just like the unibody MBPs. So it seemed entirely possible it could be from Apple. They have been trending towards more and more stripped down and dreary designs. Even their iPad has that ugly, boneheaded bezel which nobody uses to hold it with.
Well, as ugly as it is, it's entirely possible I may get one when it comes out, strictly for its functionality. Apple design, R.I.P.

If it is real I think the design is disappointing.
The glass-like back is cool but the overall device looks rather clunky.
I was hoping the next gen iPhone would be much thinner - like the iPod Touch - the sides of the device just look out of sync - not very Apple at all.
When it was said that this was a Chinese replica yesterday I was not surprised.
