"...it feels even nicer in your pants..."

The author must have been too excited to notice how funny it sounded when reading the article. I'm sure someone already pointed this out, but I don't care. lol

:apple: FTW

That's highly unethical from Giz, it's either astroturf of the highest order, or plain theft.

Or it's a hoax, but frankly with the amount of ad traffic they just got, I think they're past caring now.

I don't think it's that serious. I am sure Engadget and Arn are getting just as much ad traffic from regurgitating the same news piece.

It's a rumor that might be confirmed, nothing more.

I've been following apple since 1993. I've been following the desing work since the iMac came and they actually started doing design more deliberatly. this is way off the design blue print of apple...maybe it is just a dummy case.

I've been an Apple user since I first used an Apple II in 1985 in 2nd grade. This is nothing like an Ive design but it is more than possible if you consider that Dieter Rams was Ive's favorite designer. Dieter Rams is one of my favorites as well.

That being said, it is a drastic change even when you go back to the original iMacs from Ive.

ugly

I'm sorry, but to me it looks like a crap. It actually reminded me my nokia n81 phone wich I had 3 years ago with it's cheap plastic design with those rounded buttons and brown sides. I also don't understand why would Apple get rid of it's unique metal frame that even nokia nowadays puts in it's every new product (but for they are cheap plastic there).
I really hope these photos are either fake or 10 years old prototype, because to me this iPhone looks a huge step backward, especially for apple

I was thinking exactly the same thing... plastic.... Nokia N81... no metal frame??? ...

Another reason why CDMA/Verizion is better than GSM/AT&T for this single purpose. Once phone is reported as lost or stolen it is unable to be re-registered to the network and becomes bricked.
Apologies if I misunderstood what you were saying here, but if AT&T don't do that it's their failing, not that of GSM. There's a global blacklist of GSM IMEI numbers for exactly that purpose.

OTOH it would just turn your (hypothetical) stolen iPhone into a chunky iPod Touch, not brick it.

Gruber doesn't think it's real. Here's a tweet from him :

"Remote-wiped iPhones still power on. This thing is a total hoax, and if it's true they're charging money to see it, shameful."

It does power on supposedly. No pictures posted of that yet though. They said they were able to connect to iTunes and see the 'connect to itunes' screen.

Who knows what was remotely done to the phone or what security measures Apple has implemented. I doubt they were just using mobile me.

I was actually gonna buy my first iPhone this summer. I guess that's not happening. That has got to be the ugliest thing I've ever seen.

Might pickup a 3GS though...

... this must be a dummy case. Fingers crossed!

Oh and I dunno how I feel about the design. I think the current rounded one looks better, but the seams on this one are really killing it for me. Hopefully those are gone by June.

This year marks the fourth iPhone, and this design is drastically different than any one ever released. Why the hell would they totally revamp the design of the best selling phone of all time?

Agreed. You don't see Porsche or Ferrari making radical changes to their desgins. Apple doesn't need to.

This new phone looks great! Why don't they just load up the OS 4 beta on this thing?

I'm glad I waited to upgrade from my 3G model.

just had a thought, could this have been leaked to bring the attention away from the bad publicity of the delay of the ipad across the world?

throw them a bone to keep them happy if you know what i mean:confused:

I know. So why didn't Gizmodo show that photo ?

I smell rotten all over.

We all have opinions. you MH,Gruber and I.:)

So you think Gizmodo is lying? (Genuine question, not being accusatory) I think that would be super embarrassing for them if it came to light that they had fabricated everything? But who knows... they might just want the page views + ad revenue that comes from a billion clickthroughs.

I didn't read all 14 pages of comments so it may have been mentioned but could this be a prototype component case? The outer case is made to come apart for easy access to the insides for possible hardware changes and to keep the final case design secret.
