This is what Apple products will look like the day Steve leaves Apple ( not a day I'm looking forward too). Inelegant, partially realized ideas.

This... is... a... PROTOTYPE. And you need to realize that Jonathan Ive has a LOT to do with Apple design.

It seems that nobody is considering the possibility of Apple pulling the article from every website IF it was real.

I can imagine it now, steve jobs is looking over these threads and laughing his ass off because its not the real thing.

This was already discussed. If Apple issues a C&D - it automatically confirms that it's real. Might as well keep their mouths shut and let everyone speculate.

Looks strikingly similar to (a smaller version of) Hp's recently revealed SLATE...

Or the Ericsson M600i...

Or the Canon SX 210 IS...

With the notable exception that those are all plastic painted silver.
On the (supposed) iPhone 4G it's actually part of the aluminum chassis, so it will feel very solid and sturdy.

Yo, just asked three designer friends: yep it's ugly.

It's not even close to Blackberry's "professional" and classy feel, and it doesn't look like a finished and clean product.

Otherwise, of course it's a prototype. It means that all c*cks*ck*r who are all ready bragging about buying it, don't have any taste, and they are the stupid consumers needs to BS us.

I think I'll like the final iPhone 4G.
Haha, we don't care about your designer friends. Trust me, if we wanted to form opinion based on what your friends think, we'll come to you.

"My friend's a mechanic. He doesn't like your car."

"Oh REALLY?! *takes back*"

No.

Anyone who thinks this doesn't reflect Apple refinement needs to look at this excellent Gizmodo photo of the back:

Now that's clean! Compare and contrast with the back of any other smartphone on the market. My question: how do you protect the camera lens from getting hazed? The slightly recessed lens of the current model is hard enough to protect from scratching - I use a case on my iPhone for that reason alone (though I would much prefer to just carry the phone "naked"). The new design, if real, makes a case even more critical for camera protection. Unless that new plastic/ceramic/glass back is super scratch-resistant...

The back is ceramic so it should be fairly resistant to scratches. Not sure about where the camera lens is though (obviously not ceramic).

I'd be inclined to think so too, except it has an FCC badge on the back. Can you print those without an FCC ID? (half the ID is X'd out, so you can't look it up).

Of course they could have gotten approvals for several designs...but still, it would mean they're thinking about it at least.

re: new iPhone

I find that it is kinda silly that the YouTube blogger actually showing his face for this video... Aren't he concerned about legal repercussion with this???

This is no prototype.

We know exactly what the prototype looked like - because there are photographs of it.

These are not opinions. Okay it looked like it, so I'll be more clear: the reason Apple succeeded in getting more and more customers and followers who's amongst the first were artists and designers, it's partially because of...the design.

And design is not art, it's a science with technics, researches, criterias, theories etc...
And according to such criterias this model is not likely to meet the taste of a big enough customer base.

Especially if they aim at the iphone not looking like a ridiculous toy that everybody has, but more like Blackberry's who's design is actually researched and done by designers...with the same criterias...

No micro SD? No replaceable battery?

Hello HTC Incredible.

If those are your required features, then naturally this is a poor choice. Though, when have iPods/iPhones had either, and what possibly made you think a future one would?

I've been a consistent Apple early-adopter whenever my hardware needs replacing, but this thing looks incredibly ugly from what I've seen of it...

I certainly hope that the "look" is a prototype designed to house the new features, because I was planning on holding out to replace my first gen. iPhone when the new one came out.

Look up the SAMSUNG T509 PLUM

I had that phone for a long time when i switched to the iphone.and it looks exactly like it!

Hopefully this is just a spec and we are all blasted away with a new designed phone.

Any chance of an early announcement if it's the real deal? Ride the wave before it's too late... :)
