Where is legal on this?

Im working a conference right now so i dont have time to read the posts... but.. If this was true, would Apple Legal be all over this and force this photos to be taken down?

Hopefully this means that Apple is going back to being a hardware company. This new iPhone is trying hard to compete with the Nexus One and soon to be released Evo 4G, and doing a good job of it.

Hopefully Steve and Ive got together and cried tears of shame for the years of crippled hardware.

We might even get that Mac Mini Tower soon. :D

The G4 Cube to make a return?

Read the article. It boots and goes into recovery mode, but as there's no firmware available for it they can't restore. This is how they know the screen resolution to be so high. And there's plenty of hardware in the device specifically labeled 'Apple', which, in combination with the polish and build quality of the device itself, would be incredibly hard for any single person to dupe without millions of dollars of equipment at his disposal.

Agreed, not to mention absolutely no life . . . given that rumor sites have spent weeks and in some cases months on Photoshopped frauds that cost nothing but time to make.

This is by far the most confirmed prototype that I've seen since the redesigned Mac Pro 4+ years ago.

As anal-retentive as Jobs is about design, I'm pretty sure that if this is the new design for the iPhone, the seams will not be in the final product.

Steve: So, Tim, it looks like we still have a large inventory of 3G and 3Gs iPhones. We need a way of clearing them out before the June launch.

Tim Cook: No problem, Jonny, can you make a really ugly looking temporary casing? We'll put some of the new stuff in there and leave it in San Jose for the rumor mill to spin it. This will throw off people waiting for the new iPhone and they will buy the current iPhones.

Jonny Ive: No problem. I see what you're getting at Tim, we'll make a magical, beautiful device, but make it not so beautiful that it makes people want the current one instead. Bloody brilliant mate.

Phil Schiller: And we can put a 80GB SSD in there to throw people off.

Steve: Make it so.

And thus, the iPhone 3G and 3Gs were sold like hot cakes from April through June.

Well I for one aint rushing out to get a 3Gs- this version is so much better and worth waiting for!!!! The only queue Ill be joining is for this 4G badboy!!!! It sure as hell makes up for the 330m crap in the 17" MBP. Apple I am once again your friend!

But why the front facing camera? Who uses that anyways? Many manufacturers have skipped this because noone ever uses it..

I think this is one of those things that no one ever uses now, but given some new Apple software feature that makes people want to use it, it will take off.

And, I will eat my words on the design based on the previous photos- I think it looks much better now, though I still find the seams odd and the round volume buttons strange looking.

these are much better photos than mr blurry cam before and gives a much better perspective on its design which is pretty nice. much more solid and professional looking.

but i dont like how the sim tray is on the side, i wouldve found some way to put it back on the top :D but supposedly the case is pretty tight for space.

Seriously, what is up with the BLURRY photos? Dude, you friggin stole the camera from a bar, it's in your possession. Take the extra 30 seconds to make a normal photo.

I had this as a fake at first because the awkward, squared design seemed to be obviously NOT Apple. It is either a great hoax, or a step back for Ive and his crew on the design. The guts could be real, but that case is aweful.

How can you say it's not Apple? i'm sitting here looking a the flat brushed aluminum edge on my iPad and the same on my iMac..if its not an Apple product it should be...

Why are you guys whining? This phone looks friggin awesome, Look at the video of the asian guy that's holding the new phone on Gizmodo + the gallery of the phone here:

http://gizmodo.com/5520164/this-is-apples-next-iphone

It seems like Apple really adressed all the stupid issues the old phones had, Buttons look really sturdy now and the whole frame around it looks like aluminium, new camera, flash, front facing camera, high-res display flat flush backside.. No more wobbly iPhone when you're trying to text with it laying flat on a table... less curve edges, It looks smooth and professional in my opinion. This new phone looks slightly smaller and thinner overall So I'm guessing it'll be really comfortable to hold in your hand also it will be easier for manufacturers out there to make good cases and car/bike mounts for it since it's so simple design wise.

Personally I'm digging it, it seems like apple really listened to the users out there this time and I'm ready to fork over money for this device.. The only thing I don't like is the cuts on the edge by the headphone jack, no idea what's that for or if it's useful but it's not THAT big of a deal.

And confirm that this is legitimate?

Sigh, another pet peeve of mine. I like the design, but for the love of God, other people stating that they don't find it appealing is NOT whining. It's voicing an opinion, the same thing you did.

Maybe it's a device to throw people off.

I now have this vivid image of Steve Jobs littering California bars with fake iPhone prototypes whilst giggling to himself. Thank you.

Anyway, the flat back still bothers me. Looks uncomfortable.

that mic on the top might be for noise cancellation, but I have a different theory

... when taking video, the natural orientation of the phone is in landscape. So, you now have STEREO audio recording from 2 mics, one on either side of the camera/phone. ....

Also the top mic is great for dictation using a voice record app for business users. much more usable than the bottom mic.

wow, so this really is the real deal. i think the 3g are nicer looking though. hmmm... wouldn't stop me from getting it. i want a faster phone with better camera. i wonder who lost it and where he is now!! omg.

Does anyone else thing SJ is going to just ditch this version of the iPhone b/c it was leaked?

As a side note, i think the internals are right on. I think the case isn't the final case. They wouldn't allow so many seams. It is very Apple like to put new hardware in a crappy case to allow for "real-world" testing.

Does anyone really believe SJ would allow a fully finished product to walk out the door at this early date?

I really hope not!

Is anyone hoping that this is not the final design? It is awful and a massive step backwards if it is. It looks like something motorolla or LG would design. I can only imagine if it is a real apple product it is a prototype to see how all the internal features will work and how better they can package the internal components. There is no way Steve Jobs will let this go to market looking like that. If this is the final design i will definitely not be purchasing one as we all expect better from Apples design team.

I think, when the final version comes out, the seams will be gone and the battery will STILL be non-replaceable.

If that true, the only thing I will mind are those round volume buttons. Make them 2 separate rectangles w/ concave indents or something.

I hope the seams in the case are just for the prototype design. Hopefully the final production case loses the seams.

Either way I will be upgrading this summer. The battery on my 3G is starting to die. Getting ~2 hours and 40 minutes of usage out of it compared to 3 hours and 40 minutes and have to charge it every 2 days instead of 3 days.

I really like it in general after going thought all the photo/videos on gizmodo, looks a lot better then the original photos. I would like to see different volume buttons, and get rid of the seams though i feel like it really throws the phone off. Regardless though I will be picking one up this summer to replace my 3G.

Any word on the chip or the capacity?
