I wont sweat not owning an (poorly designed and ugly) iPhone either, trust me.
you say an small number always find the new design unacceptable however this time around this small number appears to be the majority of forum members and internet community.
I don't recall such huge negativity about any other previous iPhone (except 5c and we all know they didn't sell good enough).
We didn't see huge disappointment with previous models because they are excellent almost perfectly designed devices.
This one lacks in design and it's not opinion of a few minority.so maybe Apple do sweat after all.
Still these assumptions are based on leaks,we have to wait for the real product and see.

The reaction to the 5 leaks was just as bad as the 6. Lurk more.

It's interesting that Apple China uses "劇透到此為止", which means "the leaks stop here", as their tagline instead of the translation of "Wish we could say more":p

Interesting! Though I think it means more like "Spoilers end here". But interesting that they didn't use a rough translation of "Wish we could say more". Perhaps it's because they're where the leaks are coming from in the first place.

I like that look. Not sure what I would use one for or why I should be buying one, but I'd definitely rather have a band like this than some wannabe watchface.

This is an old video posted back in June. It is CGI. The youtube video description admitted it was fake.

If you think what you've seen up to now is anything like what's going to be announce in a couple days time, save everyone the future bother and just delete your account. The rest of us who actually have thought and judgement capacity plus a knowledge of Apple would like some decent discussion.

There's a few explanations for this apparent working device but the end point is that this is not a production iPhone 6. I was going to go into detail about each possible explaination then I realised there's really no point, who the hell would I even be talking to you're all way too far gone or just dumb from the start.

We'll see at the announcement.

My 'knowledge' of Apple goes back to the 80s...how about yours?

See: every iOS device leak since after the original iPhone.

I'm sure the "real" iPhone 6 will look completely different to this...

I think the problem that seems apparent in this thread is that many think it's real and many are finding reasons it's fake but the point seems to be getting missed - real or fake, this phone is at least 95% of what Apple will be showing us in a couple of days.

I don't mind the design of the phone, I just hope the bezel isn't as thick as it is in that leak. It looks too damn tall.

Yes, strange enough.
I have checked Hong Kong Apple homepage (both English and Chinese version) and other Asia sites, none of them appeared to have this particular tagline in terms of its meaning, except China's one.

It seems this tagline is targeting Chinese audiences only.

This is what I expected:

Beauty and precision.
The Meizu is only rounded on the backside. The iPhone is rounded on the front- and the backside. That's why the iPhone has one more level of symmetry. You could slice it in half and have two equal forms. Beauty lies in symmetry. Whenever Apple designers need a curve, they try to make it a circle first. Because a circle has endless many symmetry axis. The True Tone flash was a pill shape and now it is a circle again. We humans are programmed to love symmetry, because symmetric bodies are healthy bodies. Watch the Paralympics if you don't believe me. We humans run better when both our legs are of equal length. Symmetry makes the iPhone look healthier and more beautiful. Only thinness trumps symmetry in Apples design book.

Yes after visiting MR for a very, very long time I finally made an account to post. Don't talk as if I'm new to modern day technology because I didn't have an account on this site. Me being new to this site doesn't give me any less entitlement to ask for decent and intelligent discussion.

Speaking of intelligent discussion, I said knowledge of Apple, not their history. Like anyone gives a flying USB disk about what Apple were doing in 1995 when talking about this current matter. Someone who worked at Apple for a number of years back in the 80s doesn't have any knowledge that actually applies, what they have is history. Learn the difference.

I guess you've been worn out from going maximum diva on some people in this article's comments to respond properly. Your posts are an odd mix of painful and funny. You sound like someone's bored 45 year old mother talking to people on the internet for the first time in some of your posts.

Actually, keep it up. It's pretty screencap-worthy.

Yet something asymmetrical like this Sharp phone somehow manages to look far, far nicer than the "alleged" iPhone 6 design. Ive's quest for "thinness" and symmetry has been at the expense of good design and taste it seems. Apple are losing it in the design stakes lately...

This isn't a good phone and I'm not saying it is, but at least they can design something that looks half decent.

I don't understand the obsession with all-aluminium casework with Apple either - the rubberised back on this Sharp phone (and others) serves many practical and tactile purposes - no antenna breaks, better grip in the hand and on shiny surfaces, scratch resistance. It's just a better and arguably smarter looking choice.

Yeah man...It's like a weird collective MiB 'flashy-thingee' hits these people or something. Did we *not* do this with the 5S, 5C, 5, 4S, 4, 3GS, and 3?!

Each one same damned crap...but let's break 'em down:

"Apple would *never* make a plastic phone!"
"Apple wouldn't DARE do the same design as the last one!"
"FAKE! Apple would *never* make an ugly, flat thing like that. And all glass? NEVER"
"Apple wouldn't DARE do the same design as the last one!"(Wait...what...but they...)
"OMG Look at that screen size! It's too long! Apple would NEVER make something like that!"
"HAHAHA FAKE! Apple would NEVER make a 'fake gold' Phone!"
"LOL Apple would NEVER make a PLASTIC phone! And Um, sorry no...COLORS? Apple doesn't make stuff with stupid COLORS, hahaha" (Yeah but they already...)

...and now, this new ******.

I can't *wait* to hear about the next thing Apple would *never* do from this lot :)

I absolutely hated the iPhone 5 when it first leaked. I really didn't like the two toned design compared to the seamless glass of the 4. It took a while to start liking it, by the time I got it in my hands I quite liked it. I expect the exact same thing to happen to the 6, I for one am happy for the return of curved corners. This square thing is pretty sharp sometimes, I preferred how the 3GS fit in my hand when it comes to pure feel (ignoring the plastic).
Also this guy leaking is surely an idiot showing his face without any issues. Reminds me of the kid leaking the HTC One and basically showing his GPS coordinates and everything (unique codes of the device too and so on).

He just posted a 7 minute video of the iPhone in use on 9to5mac.com. Still skeptical but looks pretty real.

This would all be valid if in fact your post actually was intellegent or indicated that you knew anything about Apple, their workings or what they've actually done for the last 30 years.

As for the first time I "posted on the internet"...that would have been around 1992. Usenet.

Now that we've gotten past that, my point still stands:

If YOU think what has been pouring out of China for the last 6 months is a big red herring or misdirection, the onus is on you to demonstrate why as it flies in the face of all historical evidence and rational thought.

My knowledge of Apple comes from building software on their various platforms since the early 90s...not some goddamned Internet forums or my cousin that knows an Apple retail employee.

My knowledge of Apple comes from friends and colleagues that are current and former engineers there.

My knowledge of Apple comes from actually being on the original team of dedicated hackers from the IRC that composed and released the first unofficial toolchain that allowed people to build software on iOS before the official SDK was released with iOS 2...including being on the team that built anySIM. Remember that, Sparky?

My knowledge of Apple comes from when they sent a film crew to our studio to shoot a promo video of our work, which is still on their website...today.

And NONE OF THAT makes a bit of difference with regards to the actual point of the discussion:

YOU posited that what we've seen will be "nothing" like what we will Tuesday and we should all "go away" because we clearly don't know anything 'about Apple'...and I called you on your BS.

Feel free to screencap *that*

May as well be confirmation bias. You should trust your first impression. The two toned design wasn't Apples best.

THIS.

The weight difference was like..."whoa". I just donated an old 4S i had laying around and when I packed it up, smiled because i remember that "whoa" feeling from when my 5 arrived...just in reverse. I was like "I can't believe I used to think this was 'light'..."

Very true. I think the weight difference and the actual "thinness" (Gotta love Apple for that phraseology, heheh) was what really won people over...

Jimrod, I really think a lot of why Apple has stuck with what I'll call the "iconic design" is because to them, that's what makes an 'iPhone Product' an iPhone...so much so that they have a design patent for the front facia configuration.

For them it isn't about if or not it is technically possible to get rid of the extra. If they did, it wouldn't 'look like an iPhone'.

Does that makes sense to you...even if you don't prefer it?

People that think this phone is nice for its bezel clearly haven't ever used a phone with a thin bezel. The skin almost always folds over the edge of the screen when you're holding the phone...accidental input galore.

If you want pretentious thin bezels for the sake of having a phone looking cool on a table, go for the Sharp. But the bezels are there for a reason. After owning the LG G2, I can never go back to having a phone that's over-obsessive about its thin bezels.
