Quick question: What is the benefit of having an Apple watch? Why is everyone so excited about these new changes? I had a series 1 that i got for free when i signed up for a new checking account. I sold it after a month since i used it for about 2 days then never put it back on. Screen wasn't that responsive, really small (i had the bigger size), and didn't really help with anything. Replying to messages was extremely limited and didn't work well.

The only thing that i think is a great thing is LTE. If I can leave my phone in the car when i go to the beach and still have access to my phone, that might be worth it, but how often do those situations arise... I will most likely pass on the watch, i don;t think it's for me unless someone can explain why it's so useful and a must-have. I don't think they look particularly aesthetic so looks wouldn't be a reason to buy for me.

Well, each case is different. Apart of the technological, nerdy wonder you have to see if it fits your needs and wants. It might, it might not.
I was unconvinced by the AW at first. Actually, I still don’t have one. However, given my wife’s job (special ed teacher) I decided to give it a try and I bought an LTE AW3 for her. At first she told me to return it as “useless”, and I told her to try it for just a full work week. Result? She can’t live without it now. Literally, she does all her activities with it. It also helped her greatly with workouts, keeping track of things, being in contact with the world while she can’t use her phone due to her job, and even with the find my iphone feature (she forgets her phone in the purse, or somewhere around the house). It keeps track of her sleep, her general health (although we DO know it’s not a substitute for a doctor), it helps with the reminders and so on. Even the GPS is somewhat useful. The AW transformed her life for the better.
Now, is an AW a tool that everyone should have? Nah. Is it a great tool to have availavble? Heck yeah.
I am not really interested in an AW myself as I am kinda of a digital minimalist (zero notifications, just a few apps, empty iPhone screen etc.), but I do have a heart condition. Nothing huge, except that I had open heart surgery at 17. Am I at risk of dying? Most likely not more than anyone else (I mean, 100% sure that we will die somehow... but my heart does not require superextra attention or medications). However, since the new AW is coming out and my wife really uses it and loves it, why not? I’ll buy the AW4 for her, I’ll get her old AW and I will also keep monitoring my heart, sleep, excercise (or, lack of thereof) and so on.

As with any technology, any tool, or any machinery, it’s all up to each single case.

I hate leaks. Takes away the fun of the surprise. And no doubt some folks lost their jobs today.

Anyway, watch looks great. Love that new watch face. I skipped last generation mostly because I don’t want to deal with another charger. But with the upcoming charging pad, maybe I will upgrade.

What a day.

Too complicated FOR YOU maybe. I'm rather loving it myself, I'm super tempted to switch, honestly.

A sensor would be covered up by your sleeve a lot of the time, plus be rendered useless by indoors ceilings... :p It's very likely weather info supplied by Apple's data provider.

Another way to deal with this is to also have UV sensors on airpods. Then the system fuses the signal it receives from any possible source (two airpods and the wrist) and hopefully most of the time you have good data.

No-one has mentioned new AirPods but I think they are also possible at this event.
The original AirPods used the W1, and Apple now has a W2 chip; and they are popular enough that it would make sense for Apple to already release an update improving them and implementing the various improvements people have suggested.

Leak pics of the new iPads next please!

Here you go

I just wnat to know how much more storage does it have, Tired of the messages of my watch storage being full
Seriously? Full of what? I'm just curious what one can do to fill up aWatch since most of the usual suspects (picture and movies) are not an issue, and, at least in the past, there was a cap to how much music you could put on the device.

Oh yes, these are "accidental" leaks.... Really?

Of course they leaked teases, how else do you get the world excited about the keynote? You could call these advance photos pre-release publicity -- and don't forget -- Samesong's new Note hits stores this week, no better way to distract than this...

This was no leak but good solid strategy..
I actually agree with you. The new Galaxy Watch looks nice as well, so I am not surprised about the leak. I see new reports showing how fast the new Galaxy phone is and they compare the the iPhone X which came out 50 weeks ago. Nothing wrong with that either - just smart sales pitches in my opinion.

Holy crap. That watch face is busier than most of my chronographs.

Understanding that it's just drawing attention to 1. new size of screen and 2. the amount of data packing that possible (not required), hopefully it portends 3rd party watch faces. If Apple can overstuff the screen then it shouldn't be that big of a deal for 3rd parties to do so.

It does track flights climbed rather well. I use this as a timestamp for when I arrived at work (on the second floor) everyday.

Rather well? I had 6 flights climbed yesterday morning before 8am....I climbed ZERO steps. LOL

Pretty bored of these incremental updates to the look. iMac, MacBook Pros, iPhones, iPads, and especially Apple Watch have remained largely unchanged for years. With the exception of the new screen on the iPhone X, nothing about the devices makes me have that old "gotta have the new one" feeling any more. :(

My wish is that Watch 4 add sensors for UV measurement and temperature but this for sure is just lifted from the weather app.

A bit chaotic watch face but also gives us lots of customization! This is way more interesting than a bigger iPhone X.

I absolutely love the look of the new Apple Watch 4. For sure I will buy it on day one...Cant wait for September 12
