This is bad, because it's proof that Apple simply can't improve Siri without acquisitions.

Take a look at all of Google’s acquisitions that deal in AI. There are quite a few. So are we now saying Google can’t improve Assistant without buying things simply because they’ve bought more than one company that deals in imagine recognition?

Who is using shazam still?? it was a neat bar trick to show off to non-techy friends... but that's it. I deleted this off my phone years ago... such a rarely needed application.

Spotify is in perfect health, so I don’t see how this could be a ‘death’ blow.

I'd hardly say "perfect health" since they're hemorrhaging money and its difficult to see how their business model can ever turn a profit, but I also don't see this as a "death blow."

worked for amazon. They only recently started turning a profit. For the vast majority of it's life amazon lost money.

Amazon was throwing money into investments. They could have been making money. Spotify, on the other hand, is still holding out that putting more free (money losing) users will somehow equate to making money.

Amazon has a plan to make money, Spotify doesn’t seem to have one.

Apple will buy everyone and Apple will have monopole
What does a monopole have to do with anything? :D

I wish Shazam could listen in on audio played through other apps. For example, if I'm listening to a podcast on Overcast, and there is a song playing, I can't Shazam that song.

Hoping stand-alone app doesn’t go away. Asking Siri is a lot less convenient than opening the app and pressing the button. Especially in a loud venue.

Edit: also secretly hoping I get my £2.99 back for going ad free
