I did a review the other day of a selection of Headphones and found the Beats to be very average.

Yeah, I actually had never heard of him until Beats by Dr. Dre were advertised.
For bluetooth speakers, the Logitech UE Boom is far superior than the pills (and cheaper...).

As you add more headphones to the top tier, you will realise how average beats are for thier price.
Beats sound incredibly good compared to most headphones in the market. Users should stop trying to compare these to Senheiser or audiophile devices. These are cools, sound good, have a high volume and bass and young people want this kind of sound.
PS: i don't have Beats, i don't want it, i'm just tired of all trolling against Beats.
By the same token, its also interesting when a brand is a separate company, then everyone has their negative view, yet when that same brand gets acquired by Apple, all of a sudden, everything changes, and we all like it... regardless what was said before.
Anyone notice that ??

Well Apple probably already has you, and has advertised with The Beatles, Paul McCartney, and Bob Dylan before. People who you might be more familiar with. Perhaps they want to capture a different audience, generation, or demographic since they don't really need to advertise to you anymore.

His always been part of bands or associated with acts, hence why he is not that well known as an individual in mainstream prior to Beats.
Though you would have heard of some of the below. He was either part of or associated with.

Yes they want to sell to over 40. If you have kids they know and if they are fans they probably listen to music on beats.

Beats headphones are aimed at over 40s?...... Is that the old dudes who dress like 20 year olds ? Still thinking they are cool...or maybe living with their mothers still

Product red did very well for apple.
So did the U2 iPods.
Beats sound incredibly good compared to most headphones in the market <- Yes, when you compared them with headphones under $100, BUT Beats headphones are not under $100... they are $150 plus.
You can buy Grado SR80e for less than $100 and it outputs better sound than the Beats Solo series. Both Sennheiser Momentum On-Ear headphones for less than $200 (its less than $150, on sale), and V-MODA XS headphones for $199, can produce much much better sound (including the bass department) than the Beats on-ear headphones.

As a professional sound engineer, hearing Apple say "listen to music the way the artist intended" is just painful.
There is no way in hell that's how the songs sound when they come out of the studio.

Or they could give us a global graphic EQ with the same effect for free, like android has had for 4 years.

2 years go, I was looking for something better than my Sony earphones. A friend of mine told me to look at Beats. Then, I went to a local headphones store... the owner showed me what good pair of headphones is (I bought a pair Klipsch S4 at that time).
Then this year, after saving some money, I bought a Fiio E17 with BeyerDynamic T51i (both on sale)...

I am using CanOpener for Headphones for my iPhone. It is a music player with great EQ.
