For the record; for those who don't want to "go shopping" the day after Thanksgiving, last year, the Online Apple Store also had the discounts. (of course I can't guarantee it will be the same this year)

That's nice to hear...does anyone know if the discounts at the online store will exactly mirror what is offered at the retail stores? That'd be nice if it did...although I wouldn't mind venturing out to the actual store if there are nicer deals/offers/freebies/stocking stuffers there :)

Oh...and does anybody know if the discounts usually for stock configs only...or does BTO get some sort of discount too?

I love Black Friday. I'm looking forward to the huge crowds of rushing people. That kind of stuff excites me. I won't be going to an Apple store that day, though. I'll be shopping in my local mall area rather than in Delaware (I don't like crossing the bridge... especially on a day like this!). I hope to get some good deals at Best Buy. :)

Anyone who does go to an Apple store this Friday, please post impressions. Pics would be nice! :D Thanks.

I'm guessing he's the negative. I still don't see how you could rate this negative (Apple's sales are different - you actually save money off regular prices, not some scam like you describe. Please use relevant associations for comparisons to prevent yourself from embarrassment.)

Didn't rate it negative. Was talking about these thanksgiving sales, and also you can still get apple merchandise cheaper online by not having to pay tax. YOU embarrassed now?

Thanksgiving Date Information

Thanksgiving is celebrated on the 4th Thursday of November, which this year (2005) is November 24th.

Thanksgiving is Thursday right?

I wish we had Apple sales over here, proper ones, not the pissweak "cheap pink 1G iPod mini Valentines Day Sale" they had over here in department stores. I don't think the AppleCentres even had that one.

They could have one after the Australia Day long weekend but they may have to hold it off for a while cause most of us would much rather spend the day after the long weekend in bed with a blindfold on and earplugs in being fed fluids through a drip. After we recover from the hangover we'll think about discounted Apple products.

Turkey is for christmas not for this.... what do you call it? 'Thanks giving', what do you exactly give thanks for??

Hopefully we offer thanks for our nation's incredible blessings and disturbingly abundant wealth and prosperity. Just think...the 'toughest' decision many of us Americans will have on Black Friday will be what to wear shopping.

:(

A pity we don't have thanksgiving in Australia. :(

It doesn't matter - Apple wouldn't hold a sale for you. Apple didn't put on a sale for Canadian thanksgiving ; Apple allow holds sales for the states.

Their "sale" simply eliminates on a few piddly items the tax you'd pay on it over simply buying it at another online Apple reseller where you're not slammed with hundreds of dollars in taxes.

As for the poster who asked about doubling down on the sale price AND the edu discount, if the post three years are any indication, no. Someone accurately pointed out that Apple rarely (read: Never) combines offers. There were some things I contemplated getting with my edu discount plus the xmas sale price, however they never would combine them. Last year I bought two Airport Express at the $99 sale price and specifically asked even the manager re: edu pricing and he said "Apple never discounts and item twice." Sooo with that, fat chance. Sorry.

Yup. Always on the last Thursday of every November. ;)
That's wrong. It's always the 4th Thursday in November. Thanksgiving can fall out on Thursday November 22, which means the next Thursday, November 29th, is NOT Thanksgiving.

I'd love to visit my local Apple Store; alas, that's at something called Mayfair Mall (Wauwatosa, WI) which is an unholy zoo the day after Gobble Day.

I've never seen Mayfair as a zoo...however I always go down to Chicago to visit my Grandmother the day after Thanksgiving. Try, just try getting to the Michigan Avenue Apple Store on Friday.

.... I bought an Airport Express like two days ago, if they go on sale for Thanksgiving do you guys know if they'll give me the difference back since it would be within the return time frame? I know a lot of stores do that kind of thing so don't call me crazy for asking... well I might be crazy anyways but that's not the point :p

Oh and I love Black Friday, great times, but their doesn't seem to be much I want this year, which is really sad.

Can the savings from the previous yrs be combined with the student discount as well? Some of these 8% off isn't better than the discount, but if you could combine it....:D
Some Edu prices were discounted further last year (for example, the Edu price on MS Office was discounted)...

For the Macintosh of course :p

Why couldn't Apple have an on-line sale that encompassed all their on-line stores just once in a while?
There's no Apple Store in Ireland and all we get on-line are a few promotions. No Refurb store and even though there's a limited refurb store on-line at their UK site it can't be used without having a UK address and a UK based credit card.

First of all, you are very confused, Ham is for Christmas. ;)

Thanksgiving is the Holiday where Americans celebrated a good harvest when they first arrived over here (from England) hundreds of years ago.
(Wern't they also thanking the Native Americans also?)
