Does anyone know what items will be on sale and whatever...

And how much they will be discounted?
Apple has traditionally kept secret exactly what will be on sale that day. And Thanksgiving in the U.S. is certainly a time of tradition.

However, somebody usually posts a list of items on sale here in the forums early that day.

I got an email from apple "announcing" the sale, but no details. Directs to this website:

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APP...re?family=TheFeastAfterTheFeast&cid=CDM2311-1

Can we assume this sale will be online?

Anyways, let's break down the graphics again: iPod Nano, iMac, Apple Universal Remote, iMac again, digital camera, iPod, headphones, iPod Shuffle, Mighty Mouse, G5, iSight, AirPort Express, G5 again?, MIDI keyboard, digital camcorder, Apple Keyboard, CD/Software/Media, another mouse...

How about sales all across the board? :D I could use a Mac Mini or iBook (or maybe even the low-end G5) and maybe a iPod Nano or AirPort Express. Ahhh... decisions, decisions...

EDIT: So, how about a LOT LESS politics and more Apple rumors, mmmkay?

Didn't rate it negative. Was talking about these thanksgiving sales, and also you can still get apple merchandise cheaper online by not having to pay tax. YOU embarrassed now?

Tax? What's that? No sales tax here in Oregon :p

I ordered my iMac last year on the online Apple Store and got a discount with the Black Friday sale. It was about the equivalant of the educational discount, so it was as if Apple opened it up for everyone - not that they keep you from using the discount at the online store anyway.

BTW, BF is the absolute worst example of American consumerism anywhere. There is nothing Christmas-like about rushing into a Wal-Mart for $29 DVD players and getting trampled to death. If you are shopping that day and think that you are viewed as anything other than cattle with a wallet, you are sadly mistaken.

I work in retail and dread that holiday rush.

wtf, when the hel is apple going to start pushing for som desent games ie (battlefield 2 / quake 4 /need for speed-most wanted) or something to that standard, ok i know they got doom 3 but how long did that take? and i know its not apple that make the games, but i dont see why us mac users have to suffer not getting to play the top games as they come out (totally lame).

Q...when apple change there architecture next year to the microsoft maninfacture, is that going effect games and applications that we can read?
ect (3d studio max for mac), and games like i listed above.

anyway anybody that can answer any of these Q's or has some feedback, please help. ide be very very greatful...thanks

For the record; for those who don't want to "go shopping" the day after Thanksgiving, last year, the Online Apple Store also had the discounts. (of course I can't guarantee it will be the same this year)
Yeah the online store is in on it this year. The e-mail said.

Their "sale" simply eliminates on a few piddly items the tax you'd pay on it over simply buying it at another online Apple reseller where you're not slammed with hundreds of dollars in taxes.

As for the poster who asked about doubling down on the sale price AND the edu discount, if the post three years are any indication, no. Someone accurately pointed out that Apple rarely (read: Never) combines offers. There were some things I contemplated getting with my edu discount plus the xmas sale price, however they never would combine them. Last year I bought two Airport Express at the $99 sale price and specifically asked even the manager re: edu pricing and he said "Apple never discounts and item twice." Sooo with that, fat chance. Sorry.
So, what no chance on buying a refurbished iPod for even cheaper?

Not slightly; I still believe that Apple's sales are much more genuine than other sales. You used an example where your company RAISED prices, THEN DISCOUNTED THEM to say they were on sale. Apple does not RAISE prices, then DISCOUNT them to say they are on sale. Bad comparison.

But I don't really care - I don't want to pursue this any further, if thats ok, so don't bother replying...:)

Save 8% Everyday - Amazon

Why would anyone EVER buy anything in a retail store? My office is two blocks from Apple's Soho NY Flagship store, great for playing with the new toys they make - but why pay full retail price plus tax? Amazon usually has a rebate on Macs ($125.00 on iMacs right now) with no tax and free shipping - I'll eat some extra turkey and sleep in.

Couple of odd things about this sale:

1) I view this email in Safari (via Gmail) and the links on the image don't work, yet when I view the same email via Firefox the links work?

2) I live in Canada, registered with Apple using a Canadian address - yet I get an US Apple store advert, which I can't use, since the US Apple Online shop doesn't accept non-US credit cards or Canadian delivery addresses.

Oh yeah, we had our thanks giving a couple of weeks ago - yet I didn't see a sale for that.

if apple reduces the price of lets say an ipod (cause i want one) to about the price of the edu. discount, does this mean i get more off because i'm a student? Or will they only take one offer

I'm pretty sure they are "not available with any other offer." - But I guess it could happen. :)

Does anyone know if Apple has iven away grab-bags or anything free at these events? Anything worth waiting in line for?

:)

I think we would have heard something by now. Stores that have "give-aways" will advertise them weeks before, so they can get as many people to come as possible. If you don't tell anyone, then no one will come (that wouldn't have anyways) and everything you gave away would have been a waste.

But you should have come to the grand opening of the $.99 store in my area. The first 9 people in the store could buy an iPod Nano for $.99
The first person got in line at 8pm the night before.

Going to any retail store the day after Thanksgiving is insane!! I would rather have a root canal! No savings is worth the hassle of gazillions of people in your way all trying to buy the same thing for just a few dollars less. No way!! If you like crowds go to the DMV on a Saturday or.....go to Disneyland on a Holiday or go to the Post Office the week before Christmas, Hey...move to China! Anything....... but the hords of people trying to save a few bucks the day after Thanksgiving? No @#$%&* way !!!!!!

OT: but you know... China is overpopulated. Which is where I think he was going with that... just like the DMV is over-crowded on a Saturday.

Which is why I asked. I certainly didn't see anything on the advert I recieved saying "free mac mini's!".. so I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

Do coupons count? Because both times Apple sent me $30 off coupons for the online store, I used them with my edu discount.

I would guess that coupons are okay because they're probably sort of processed like gift cards.

I wouldn't think so, as I wasn't allowed to use my gift card from my parents online. And my school didn't give me a student ID because the satellite campus didn't use them, so I had no proof for the store to get my edu discount, there. :(
