Does anyone use Airplay? If so, in what situation?

I often wonder this myself, though I do use Bluetooth to transmit to my Jawbone Jambox. I suspect if I could use Airplay instead, it would be much more reliable. But I can't, so I don't.

Hey that's weird, the FaceTime call doesn't show them moving in 3 frames per minute, followed by the green 'Call Back' button and "Call Failed" stuff I always get.

Yeah... I uses AirPlay ALL THE TIME!!! Really!.

I have 2 AppleTV 2G (and 1G 160GB too), iPhone 4 (and 3GS too), iPad 2 (and 1 too), Macbook Pro and iMac... and 3 AirPort Express connected to Active Speakers around the house.

When arrives to my house from the work everyday i send music from my iPhone to the any Speaker (connected via AirPort Express) or AppleTV, later send a couple of music videoclips from my iPad to the HDTV (connected via AppleTV 2G).

The weekends enjoy with my friends the photos and personal videos taked with my iPhone (or from my Friends iOS devices) on my HDTV... is AMAZING and SIMPLE!
Even directly from the AppleTV plays the contents of iTunes Libraries of my Macbook, the iMac of the house or the PC of my sister.

The AIRPLAY for me is ANOTHER WORLD FEATURE.

Is my PREFERRED feature ALL THE WAY!!!.

I forget the iOS to iOS AirPlay feature... Is Freaking Amazing... Yeeeeah!.

I LOVE AIRPLAY.

Greetings fron Chile.

¡Saludos a Todos!

Actually, I didn't like the I'm a Mac ads as good as the newer ones. Mostly because the newer ones concentrate more on just showing what you can do on the hardware, and how easy it is. This is instead of the even more smug "I'm a Mac" commercials. They just seemed more like they concentrated more on "Making fun of the other guy" in them. So the attitude of the Mac guy seemed a bit irritable. Though, the "I'm a PC guy" was always quite funny. He, in a way, made those commercials. But I think it speaks in more volume to just show how this device simply allows you to do "this" easily instead of making them talk down the other guy.

That's what I think are the more effective commercials, though yes, without the "I'm a PC" guy's humor.

Yup! Many see this as Steve's mindset since the development of the original Mac. Supposedly, Steve had heavy connections into the "progressive" social psychology community from Berkeley in the early Apple days. The alleged strategy is this psych crowd has been trying to replace organized religion with technology for the past thirty years via Steve and others.

At one time, Steve even called the Xerox PARC hires to design the original Mac his "disciples." When you see what Apple is doing for what it is; actually it is pretty funny. But God doesn't need system updates and technical support, you just need faith. A few articles documented that Scully saw psych influence inside Apple that is one of the reasons why Steve was kicked out of Apple in 1984.

Steve in the meantime has become older, wiser and not misguided by those who are anti-God. He has been heavy into his Buddhism and that allowed him to turn the corner away from the dark side. Be interesting to see if any of this makes it into his authorized biography.

dude! I just learned so much! thanks for that post

I use it mostly for music. My ATV2 is hooked up to my living room sound system through the TV. It works great and is very easy. I also often use it with web videos. A surprisingly large number of them are Airplay enabled. Just one tap and it goes to my TV.

I use AirPlay all of the time! When my friends come over, they often pickup the iPad that I keep on my living room table, select some music and just seconds later, it's playing through my entertainment system. It's so easy, and enjoyable.

Good point, haha. I wish I had the wi-fi network with which they demo these features.

Yeah, I find it very useful to show my photos/videos taken on my iPhone to my family on our TV (with Apple TV of course) when I get home.

Sometimes to play a youtube video to the TV.

Why would apple release an iPhone ad if the iPhone 4S/5 is coming so soon?

Because these ads are about software features that are independent of the whole iphone 4 v iphone 5 issue

When I add a person to my contacts and I specify that they have an iPhone, it should put a small "video" icon next to their name on my contact list so that I immediately know that they have an i-device.

given that you have to start up a phone call to use facetime between phones, the lack of a selectable facetime icon on the six button keypad after you hit Call should be a huge clue

Every time I see an Apple commercial, I get this weird, tingling feeling in my heart and I feel extremely happy. I believe in Apple more than I believe in Jesus. Apple stores are like church, the ads are the scriptures, and Steve is like the second coming.

WTF??? Mate!!

just to keep on topic... i liked the commercials to bad those features do not act the same way as in the commercials... :(

I do

My music is on iTunes on my mac mini in my home office - when I'm in the living room I send it to my entertainment Speakers connected to an airport express (I had it left over when I got my TimeCapsule)

I control the music/volume etc with the iTunes Remote App on my iPhone

These smug commercials are really annoying.

If you don't have an iPhone you're probably not a douchebag.

(yes I have an iPhone and I'm a douchebag)

For some reason I like those ads even though I hated the previous if you don't have an iphone ads.

(no iPhone , possible douchebag)

I love Airplay. I use it all the time. When friends are over, I play music over the speakers and can control the volume/song with my iPhone (Pandora or regular iPod app), or I can use the same apps on my iPad to let friends control the music and volume. Or, I just use it when I'm around the house and not on the computer, so I can have the remote (iPhone) in my pocket. Airplay rocks.

Wow - extremely misleading advertising.
You can only send music via airplay if you have an airport express connected to speakers or a compatible stereo system - both of which are expensive and which isn't mentioned at all.
Want to send your photo's or watch a movie from your iPhone on TV?
Then you'll need an Apple TV for that - something else that isn't cheap and isn't mentioned.
I have 2 airport express in my home and an Apple TV and it works just great, but I think this iPhone ad is VERY misleading as it would suggest that all this is possible just via the iPhone itself - which it isn't.
Shame on you Apple! :(

The Apple TV doesn't count as cheap? Does Apple make any products that are cheaper?

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 4_3_3 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/533.17.9 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.0.2 Mobile/8J2 Safari/6533.18.5)

Awesome, I use AirPlay with my airport express to listen to music all the time.

The also did not mention you would need a tv or electricity or eyes to watch the tv and ears to listen to it. Shame on you apple!

did anybody else notice that on the first contact the tag for the phone number said "mobile" instead of "iPhone"

i would think that they would have changed the tag or the name of the phone number...
