I had this app before and after the easter egg and I can tell you that using the volume buttons is so much better than trying to tap on the screen.
Apple should give the option to use these buttons if a user so desires.
All they have to do is allow it as an option that a user can switch on or off.

Of course it's better. It's ridiculous to think that you have to poke the screen to take a photo.

So, they knew it was wrong right from the beginning, they did it anyway, they got told off, then they did it again more quietly, and they get told off again.

A four year old learns faster than that.

Even a four year old doesn't need Apple to do the thinking for him or her.

You're a "Customer" not "Customers". What you want isn't going to be what everyone else wants, and I can tell you right now, I don't care that much where the button is, even when I take photos. A physical button would be nice, but lets analyze that for a second.

Lets say the volume buttons are remapped, and I'm listening to Pandora in the background. I would have no way of changing the volume, without leaving the App, which would be extremely annoying, and would pretty much defeat the purpose of multi-tasking.

Lets say the Sleep/wake button is remapped. I would have no way of turning the phone off without waiting for it to do it itself, which is inconvenient.

Lets say the home button is remapped. Well, anyone who doesn't understand why this would be problematic has never used an iPhone.

No matter how you look at it, remapping the buttons is a problem and not a solution. Apple could add a programmable button that does nothing but let itself be mapped, I had a palm phone that had that, but remapping an existing button is bad news.

LOL. This is wrong and not how things should be done. I am sure Apple will make a camera button in another iPhone, and charge for the privilege. It's yet another reason why I am not interested in the iPhone any more.

Indeed. I don't see Apple's issue with this. It's quite hilarious, as a non-iPhone user.

pretty sure in 4.2, if you double click the home button and swipe left twice, you'll find a volume control.

or they could just be reasonable and put a dedicated camera shutter button on the side of the phone.

Somebody explain again why these Apple App Stores with their draconian restrictions are a good thing for consumers & developers?

Finally! I started getting desperate… Everyone has praised this app and now I can finally find out myself why. Not bad, EUR 0,79 for the app and another 0,79 for the I <3 Analog filters.

True, but it's less convenient. Anyway, they should add a programmable button for things like this because it DOES make sense, it's just that, i don't think remapping the existing buttons is a good idea at all. I'm not going to even respond to koobcamuk, he seems to think the worst of Apple, so there isn't much point in arguing with the likes of him.

Thats why you have choice. Steve has already made his stand...if you don't like it get an Android device.

It is sad that this kind of useful features or options are cut off by Apple the Ruler.

What should they care about this like a control freak? Really hope Android grows bigger and better so we can vote by feet.

What a fantastic app, got me taking a lot of photos that wouldn't have otherwise. If you haven't bought it get it at 0.99 and hide Camera.app in a folder.

All you have left to do is to quit posting in forums dedicated to a product you no longer use.

Actually, you would, as have been pointed out. Furthermore, who would be confused about the functionality after typing camplus://enablevolumesnap into the Safari browser to enable this feature? It's not something you do on accident.

Your points on the home and sleep button are moot, as they are not comparable to volume. They are the only way to access crucial OS features, which is not the case with volume.

Apple likes OS consistency. I don't think remapping would be a good idea, but regardless, arguing is pointless because Apple is never going to do it. They want the overall experience to be consistent between Apps, and allowing this will make it inconsistent. You wont make me forget about my suggestion though. Make a dedicated button for things like this, and everyone will be happy. That's what they SHOULD do. Remapping buttons is asking for trouble. Just add a button that can be remapped to do whatever, and problem solved. People seem to only quote where i don't make this suggestion. It's interesting.

Jump to the Multi-task bar, adjust the volume slider.

All Apple needs to do now is open up the HDR API and I bet taptaptap will add that functionality. A movie mode would make this take the place of the default Camera app on my iPhone.

Jailbreak your phone and you can with SnapTap.

Best part about SnapTap is that you can put the phone on a tripod or just set it up somewhere and use the volume buttons on the headphones to take pics so that you don't have to worry about holding the phone steady. Not sure if most people are aware that you can do that, it works great.

thank you for the tip. downloading now

This is one area where Apple falls down. No one who downloads and installs this app would ever be confused about volume vs. shutter button. Apple is just plain wrong here. In fact Apple should have built in the ability to use a volume button as a shutter release.

Again, you ignored the solution I mentioned that solves everyone's problem. I'm done with all the ignorance. I keep telling you guys a good solution that i think everyone would be happy with, involving an added hardware button, and nobody takes note of it, which leads me to conclude that all you guys want to do is complain, making my arguments not worth my time. I'm done here.

What's so difficult about "tap the camera icon"?

Consider for a moment why cameras have a physical button rather than requiring you to tap the viewfinder.

Because, they don't have touch screen ...
