Apple and AT&T Websites Get Ready for iPhone 5 Pre-Orders

yeah i noticed this too until after i had already placed. they send you a confirmation email and in there should be a "Order Status" link towards the bottom.

I updated my address through mobile safari. didn't work on desktop. heh

just got confirmation email from apple about the change of shipping address.
 
Bizarre. Couldn't access the Apple Store via Safari, but accessed it immediately with Firefox. Doesn't matter, though -- I ended up downloading and placing an order through the Apple Store App once it looked like things were wonky with the website.

Done on Verizon site at 10 minutes after the hour. I checked the Apple store after I finished and it was still down for me at the time. Came up about three minutes later. The is the first time I've used a wireless company site to pre-order - and I've preordered every iPhone and iPad Apple has allowed pre-orders for from Apple. This one was the cleanest by a long shot. Good job Verizon - so far it looks like I made the right decision to switch from AT&T.

Now for the long wait for my new black 64GB iPhone 5.

Flash update - got got pre-order confirmation from Verizon.

16GB Black AT&T with Apple Store App on my iPhone.

Only thing wrong is that it didn't show me the accessories until AFTER purchase. I'll take it into the Apple Store after I receive it to get Applecare+. I read the fine print and you have 30 days to do it if you bring in the phone to an Apple Store, make a Genius Bar Appt and the show receipt that proves it was purchased within the 30 days. Hassle, but better than trying to edit my purchase right now.

WooHoo! New toy in 7 days! Finally, I'll have a phone that gets more than 4 hours of battery. My 2-year old iPhone4 is very battery challenged lately :)

Apple's site is still down for me, but I was able to order it through the Apple Store app easily enough.
 
Well, damn. Two problems.

The shipping address is tied to the account's billing address, which is with my family in another state. Can you change this through AT&T rather than apple?

Trying to use another phone's upgrade, but it's not a current smartphone. Apple is requiring the choice of a data plan... can I just cancel this once I get it? Would that be a problem?
 
For all those who think Apple.com is still down, try another browser or reset cache. Safari seems to cache pretty heavily, it's still down for me there too.
 
i had to wait for apple.com to open up. my credit card linked to the app store app won't hold the 64 gig! :)

order went right through one apple.com opened

I had to do two orders through Verizon's site. One to upgrade my wife's phone and then a separate one to port my number from AT&T. Weird that it needed to do a credit check to add another line. Oh well. Haven't gotten a confirmation number for the second phone yet.

UGH, AT&T site isn't working for me! Need to use it to add another phone to my Family Plan, not seeing the option to do so on Apple's site.

Used iPhone app like others on the thread..got in, ordered ATT 16G Black and going to bed. Just got confirmation email. Good luck to you all!!! (thanks for all the info)
 
Finally worked for me...

Had to use Chrome's Private Browsing Mode... (yeah, makes no sense to me)
 
Went through fine on the Apple website. Had the app showing "loading" until after i completed my purchase. At&t is STILL down, but glad they're working with Apple this time! Buddy of mine ordered at the same time (He's in CA & and I'm in IL), Apple's site was down for him, and he used the app. Looks like it's all about timing... try both.

Went WAY better than the 4S, that's for sure *knock on wood* until I receive the e-mail, tracking #, and phone, lol.
 
I tried the Apple Store app first but it kept timing out so I tried the website and it went without any issues but it was slow.

iPhone 5 Black/Slate 16GB

This was a whole lot easier than the iPhone 4 and iPad 3 preorders. Those took hours to complete.

You can always try the pickup option at checkout. If not, you can change this address by logging into the ATT account at ATT.com. I am part of a family plan even though none of us live together and I had to do this in order to have mine shipped to my house.

I ordered on the app and it let me keep my unlimited plan. Got confirmation email and everything.
