Apple Announces 16GB iPhone and 32GB iPod Touch

Memory upgrade? Yes we were expecting it. Don't remember if a rumor was out or not, but everyone expected this based on having iTouch with 16 gigs and iPhone with 8 gigs, everyone ex[ected the iPhone to be bumped.

I don't think people expected the itouch to be bumped and I don't think people expected that apple was going to have a different price. Most people expect more mem for same of a split (50).

the new iphones have come at the same time as the new tariff changes...thats probably why it was delayed until now, to correspond with that
 
Jobs has to answer to shareholders after the 1st quarter...coming of Holidays, MacWorld and MBAir release....they don't want to look bad.
Apple had this in their pocket...waiting to release it. But, probably didn't want/anticipate releasing so soon.
 
I can not put into words how PISSED I am at Apple right now. Now my 8GB touch, which I got for Chirstmas less than 6-7 weeks ago is basically.... S**t.

I bought my iphone right after macworld. I fell kinda shafted on this news. :p Anyways... I believe i'm still in the 30 day return period with a 10% restocking fee. Should I do the upgrade folks? Guide me!

If you're so mad at Apple for the extra storage added today, why didn't you get the 16GB version? The 8GB Touch is the same price it was yesterday.

So let me get this straight...you're pissed at Apple because you're an ungrateful receiver of an iPod touch? Really showing your true character there, pal...:rolleyes:
 
Awesome. I knew Apple would double the memory of the Touch sooner rather than later. If only I had the money to buy one!

If the extra memory matters that much to you then eBay it and upgrade before you pop a blood vessel in your angry little head.
 
Deal with it being outdated, how would you like a macbook pro that was outdated....

I understand your bitterness. But what if you shelled out nearly 3k for a macbook pro and within 4-5 weeks it was updated?

It sucks, but it is still a great product. Learn to wait for new releases then buy.

The 8GB Touch is still the same price as before.

I can only think of two reasons someone would vote this negative.

1) Waaaah, it's not a new MacBook Pro with (insert wishlist here)!

or

2) Waaaah, Apple upgraded the 6+ month old product I just bought two weeks ago, they should have warned me!

I'm sure when the MBP is updated, all the folks who couldn't wait a few weeks after MacWorld will be whining and voting negative on that announcement. What a bunch of crybabies, it's ridiculous.

Or WAHHH can't fit my 60GB of music on my iPod so the concept of a real honest to god juke box, which was the original design of the iPod, goes right down the toilet. For work I spend about 3 hours of my day in the car Monday - Friday. Sometimes more if if have to make the 2 hour trip down to Iowa to do some repair work on a server. Having my entire collection with me after having it for so long on my iPod Photo isn't appealing, its an outright mandate. Apple's use of smaller capacities comes back to Jobs's outright fetish for all things thin. And I know someone is going to bring it up so I will address it now. Don't give me this crap about battery life. Drop 512MB-1GB of cache on the thing and the hard drive will spin up once every couple hours. Nope this is Jobs's obsession which impacts feature set in the name of having it as thin as possible.
 
What pees me off is that investors think that Apple won't sell 10 millions iPhones at this rate.
At this rate no, but they don't realise a 3G one will probably be out in the summer.

How does Apple explain these prices over here in Germany??!!

iPhone 16GB 499$ = 499€
iPod Touch 32GB 499$ = 459€

Can´t they calculate?!?! :mad:

Nope. There will be no more updates to any iPods or the iPhone without an 18-month warning.

Seriously, folks. You're talking about brand new products. Did you not pay any attention at all the to high definition optical disc market last year? The cheapest Blu-ray Disc players (not ps3) were $800 in January. I got one for $300 in December. You want on the bandwagon early, you pay more. Go ask people who bought HDTVs circa 2000 how much they paid for them.

On a personal note, stop bickering so those of us waiting can get price drops! I guarantee you Apple drops the prices if not for all the early-adopter whining last year. I just pray they don't drop the MBA with SSD prices more than $50 a year or else there will be riots.

a) The original iPod only had a 5GB Hard Drive.

b) You can still buy an iPod Classic.
 
Very nice, but the iPod touch still fails to sync wirelessly. Even my mobile phone syncs wirelessly with my Mac, why on earth doesn't the iPod.

Not exactly modern technology is it.....
