Apple Announces 16GB iPhone and 32GB iPod Touch

ok..someone please explain to me...how do they charge $499 for the touch with 32Gb of NAND flash and charge a grand for 64GB flash memory for the air..????
i mean...the touch is still thinner!!!
A 64GB SSD is different than straight-up flash memory.

I hate to spoil your joy but for 39.99 a month you can use your iphone with t-mobile versus 79.99 and add 9.99 for 1000 text versus 200. Now unlimited nites and weekends. No need for edge too slow it's frustrating so save your money about $30 bucks less a month that's $360 a year almost a new iphone per year
That price is much better. But did i miss something... T-Mobile doesn't have the iPhone. Your's is unlocked i guess????

True... One of my friend, a proud iPod Touch owner, didn't even knew about the $20 upgrade... I guess he's happy with his device!
From what everyone is saying, the 32gb physical size is too big to fit in the current iphone with the radio... so that model shouldn't be out anytime soon.
I know that ipods come out quite often but the iPhone is a different animal. Will we see the 32gb with 3g last this year? Maybe... but probably for $600!
Then when that happens we will have the same response as today. No matter what, someone will always complain about something and want more.

Wireless Sync
I'm not the expert on this, but wouldn't wireless sync for an ipod/ iphone take forever if you have tons of songs? It takes long enough while it is sitting in the dock, especially for movies. Just ask'n. It would be cool though.

question: how many cell phones on the market come with 16 gb of memory built in for under $500?
answer: until today, none.
A few in Asia, but that doesn't really count as they are not mass market. Then if take away the built in part, any phone that has SDHC support of any kind.
October because that's when the ipods are updated? They released the first one in June, I figured a yearly full update (not just extra memory). Is the rumor they will shift to be at the same time as the ipods?

i'm getting my iphone in 9 days. does meebo.com work on the iphone?!?! that would be awesome if it does!
If I drive 20 minutes east, I am out of the 3G coverage area. I'm still waiting for it since Atlanta has plenty of coverage, but EDGE is kinda like the dial-up of wireless data. It's not as fast, but it sure is in a lot more places.
Once 3G hits the iPhone, people will be complaining about the lack of WiMax for the 2 or 3 WiMax towers in the country that may or may not work.
They could complain all they want, it won't happen with AT&T. Sprint is the only American carrier with plans for WiMax. So unless the iphone moves there, no wimax for it.
If $500 is so crazy for a 32GB Touch, why did you pay $400 for a 16GB when you can get a 160GB Classic for $350?

Lets put it in perspective. I bought a Toshiba e755 PPC back in 2003. It has windows mobile 2003, SD and CF card slots, is 400Mhz, and has 62.12 MB of memory built in. Has wireless B, and I can insert a true GPS CF card. It opens Word, Excel, and Powerpoint, and all the other PDA functions. I paid about the same price for it as the newest iPhone 5 years ago. It just isn't fair. Since when does technology get upgraded? I mean come on? I should be going irate, but really...I'm not. My device was outdated about 4 months after I bought it, but it still gets me through the day, and has saved my butt countless times. People that say their older iPhone is obsolete...can kiss it! It will still be worth the money you paid. Just because you can't put your entire music library on it doesn't make me feel sad for you. Besides, nothing has changed on the iPhone but a storage upgrade, it still can't do half of what my PPC can do. I don't know about you, but I can't even get through my 4.3 hour long, 275.7 MB play list on my iPod shuffle when I work out each day! Give me a break about storage...lol.

That's exactly what it's for, it's even formatted for the touch and the iphone. I use it every day, works like a charm. just point mobile safari there.
I agree...even though I have an 8gb iPhone...just means v2 will start out at 32gb most likely. I'm totally pissed though that the new MBPs didn't come out today. I have 8am adv color photo and first thing I did after my alarm went off was refresh the store site. I almost died after I saw it was down. Where in the hell did this iPhone update come from? It's like they are teasing us since so many people expected MBP updates today. I want my first mac! Also...to all the people who say "just buy it now"...screw that. I'm a college student and it takes forever to save up for this stuff. I'm going to get the best bang for my buck if it kills me...and it just might!!

I like meebo, but I like mundu.com even better. I think the interface once you're logged in is much more slick. It is also iPhone formatted.
Hey, qiut complaining. Despite the UK£ being worth almost double the US$ (£1 = $1.965) the UK 32GB iPod Touch costs the equivalent to $646.
Now that's something to get pissed about!
