That iPhone battery case still blows me away. That was carefully designed, meetings were had, very highly paid people gave their input and... that's what they all agreed upon.

Mind boggling.

It looked odd to me at first but now it just looks obvious. It's the only battery pack that I know of which easily slips on and off and it's classic Apple minimalism with no wasted space.

This article was poorly timed for April 1st. Are we sure this isn't a link to The Onion? What incredibly absurd pricing. You can manufacture a $50 coffee table book and make a profit.

Which is incredibly frustrating because a very simple design alteration could have made the mouse usable while charging. Nothing worse than getting no meaningful warning on the office computer and the mouse dying during an important project.
What simple design change? Adding a port in front of the mouse and breaking this nice curved surface? i'd rather keep the port where it is.

I know, it's not a big issue. But I think we all can agree it just looks really funny. :p
I disagree.

A cynic would say something like:
"This book should be called Designed by Apple in California, Manufactured in China, and Assembled in Texas Where We Use to Assemble Mac Pros but Since We Haven't Really Updated the Mac Pro in Like... Well, Forever, We Have Capacity in the Plant to Glue Pages in a Book."

A cynic would also say something like:
"No trees were harmed in the making of this book. The special paper used in the creation of this book was made from ground unicorn and griffin wings. Thus, justifying the price."

Cynics are the worst.

I, however, am not a cynic. I say this is a great thing Apple has done for Apple fans. This is something to be treasured for years to come. The entire family can get repeated enjoyment from perusing this book over and over and over.

Full disclosure: I am drunk.

"The idea of genuinely trying to make something great for humanity was Steve's motivation from the beginning, and it remains both our ideal and our goal as Apple looks to the future," said Jony Ive, Apple's chief design officer."

By which I guess he means **** loads of cash for main shareholders - humanity is indeed indebted to Jony et al.

$300 for a book... you can buy Iconic which is very similar for £40.. http://iconicbook.com/work/

(I can't possibly justify $300 on a coffee table book)

I'm going to assume that either you ARE Ive or this is missing the /s at the end. "OMG I can't stand looking at that mouse with a PORT in front, if only I could turn it upside down and not be able to use it instead"?

Steve Jobs would be appalled. He made a point of never looking back. There was no sentimental corporate museum for a reason.

(Don't get me wrong, I'd like the book. Just that Steve hated the idea.)

History book. Seems ominous.
Is anyone really that into old Apple crap that's all now in a landfill to spend another $200 to look at it again?

Really?
What happens when you won't be able to read PDF's in the future?

I get that the future is digital.
But the printed page, especially coffee table quality stuff is timeless.
Nothing like a tactile perfect bound book that will last for 100 years...never obsolete...unless the pages get stuck together. :)
You do know the windowing system in MacOS is based on PDF right? So you are basically saying, MacOS won't exist in the future, which suggest, Macs won't exist in the future, which suggest Apple devices such as the iPhone and iPad won't exist either.

Charging once a month or so during the night is inconvenience? Stop right there.
