They have clearly lost their grip and are trapped in a reality distortion field.

Power bricks without cables, smartphones without headphone jacks, and now a book for a whopping 300$.
What's next ?

Wauw, sounds cool. I really like the first photos. But I do wonder if they're gonna add these marvels:

:p

You know the mouse and pen change in minutes right?
Case - nothing wrong with it functional an minimal.

These have to be winners...

Or some of these crazy 80s Apple concepts.. .most are pretty cool.

What a ridiculous thing to do at a time when everyone is waiting for updated desktop hardware and the MBP has gotten such a mixed reception. Bad optics patting themselves on the back right now.

This article was poorly timed for April 1st. Are we sure this isn't a link to The Onion? What incredibly absurd pricing. You can manufacture a $50 coffee table book and make a profit.

Which is incredibly frustrating because a very simple design alteration could have made the mouse usable while charging. Nothing worse than getting no meaningful warning on the office computer and the mouse dying during an important project.

2 mins charge = 9 hours mouse use. Go make a coffee.

I'm surprised they want to release this book... It only shows how their innovation and authenticity to the customer has declined over the years with the new MacBook Poo, being the strongest example.

I love all the people who have justified to me over the past couple years that Apple won't make an anniversary edition iPhone next year because they never look back and are always focused on the future.

Well, here's your proof.

This doesn't mean Apple will make an anniversary edition iPhone, but it does mean that they might. There have been other signs leading up to this, such as the anniversary videos and vintage "Hello" references. Apple has been looking back lately more than ever, for better or worse, and now it can no longer be denied. Again, I'm not trying to spin this one way or the other, but I'm just telling the naysayers that yes, this is happening.

Gosh, there's a lot of hatred against Apple. I'm one of the people pissed by the lack of "pro" hardware news but this is an amazing piece of inspiration. I'm pretty sure a lot of designers (and not only) will buy it. Ghost ink, handmade, 8 colors, dudes, that's very expensive. It looks like a very nice homage to SJ. And, I tell you what, this is going to sell a lot. Maybe prices can drop when they get the numbers.

I actually agree with you. Many educational institutions and design houses will definitely be placing orders for their copies. I just love the level of trolling Apple is receiving these days :p

Hey Apple, how about you figure out a way to not waste your time and money on your bragging rights and instead use those resources in getting your god damn prosumer products ready to ship.

Yah, I'm not liking this new Apple very much. Sorry Tim, but the excitement is lost when you take years between product updates, and then those updates come with compromises in the name of form factor.

Regarding the price, if you were to buy 450 8x10 photos at Walmart, it would cost you around $1200. And these images are larger than that... even if you take into account that they may be printed back to back and drop the price in half, that's still $600. They are large photos and they are probably pretty good quality (better than instant machines at Walmart, anyway). Just a thought.

This is actually a great price for a professional quality design book. This isn't something you read on the toilet.

Anyone know when preorders start? Probably midnight pacific time? Get your browsers ready.

Funny thing is when I saw the price I immediately thought a large portion of the money was going to some kind of charity/foundation. Turns out I'm wrong and this absurd pricing is just Apple's way of doing business now.
