This has NOTHING to do with their equipment. Why do people keep thinking Apple wants BEATS for their gear?

This was about Iovine and BEATS/DRE was part of the package deal.

I appreciate the idea but if they wanted one man, they could have just bribed him to join Apple for less than what it cost to buy all of Beats. I find it hard to believe that Iovine is worth $3B regardless of his connections. But even if that can be justified, why buy "the rest" if they really just wanted the one guy?

This does not please me. Another Browett situation? Dr. Dre is not professional. Just look at that silky drunken video of him. Yikes.

The only thing I can think of is that they couldn't get Iovine unless they bought the bathwater too. I just can't see Iovine or Dre worth $3 billion. At least they'll get that back in Beats revenue in the next year or two.

I don't see it being "Apple-like".

Just what every Apple fan has been longing for...That Dr. Dre would actually "join" the company....

Does anyone know about how a business runs?

Facebook paid $1bn for WhatsApp.

$3bn for a profitable company is nothing... plus the streaming technology and knowledge that Iovine and Dr Dre can bring to Apple all makes sense.

Forget about the background and the product, they built a billion dollar business in 8years!

Excited to see what happens.

Again, I remind folks, that Tim Cook is smarter than you and I when it comes to running Apple.

Your opinions are moot and shortsighted.

Sit back and see what comes of this.

Or . . . . watch Apple's stock plummet . . . . either way it will be interesting.

It would be funny if in a couple of days Samsung announced a great deal acquiring one of the respected headphone manufacturers.

Worst move ever by Apple!

Insane amount of money for headphones and a few accounts on subscription and links to the music industry, unless there is something under the hood! 3B, really!

You don't know what you're talking about. You don't know what apple plans to do with the company or talent they acquired or what potential future products they have access to. You don't like their headphones so it's a bad deal for apple? They know what they are doing.

I have Monster Beats that I use on the plane when I want to see a crappy movie played on the seat in front of me. I have PSB when I listen to lossless on my home iMac and Ultimate Ears when I listen to lossless on my travel MBP.

The quality difference is enormous, the price isn't. I know what quality can buy when you want to pay a lot of money for music listening.

Beats aren't in that category. Hence, they have no place at Apple imho.

Correction: Facebook paid nineteen billion for What'sApp.

If you want to sell Computers - You need Designers, Technicians
But If you want to sell Music - You need somebody inside Music Industry!

If Music is a Hardware these guys can act as Software! :apple:

Some of you seem needlessly worked up over this. Might I suggest that we all calm down and watch a movie or something?

Oh, I know. How about this one?

Your opinion is far from humble, it's absolutely, 100% right. Nobody who knows half a thing about audio quality would disagree with you.

:( why, Apple :(

SJ doesnt matter now, what should matter is logic and apple's vision. If apple felt Beats is an essential part of its future path and which also means that to its board of directors approve (who also agreed to hand over the $3Bil) then we just have to wait and see wants instore for the rest of us.

Apple vision is SJ vision. In this case where purchasing crap with huge amounts of money is the future for Apple, then Apple has lost its core vision that SJ brought back. Now that he's gone, you are absolutely correct that SJ doesn't matter anymore. Moving forward, the Apple we all know and love from SJ time is gone and Apple is heading back to irrelevancy and protecting its current revenue stream by purchasing junk rather than innovating.
