I'm left feeling like the Apple Watch 3 with LTE was the real big step towards the future, or as Apple put it: "....where the puck will be next".

and the first live FaceID unlock failed....
hopefully it's gonna work in real life...
I'll stay with my Galaxy S8 with Iris scanner (You have to raise it and look at it, same as iPhone X) PLUS touch id.
Hoping Galaxy S9 will have under screen touch id.

Why does Apple have a such high markup for iPhone when they literally have billions of dollars in the bank. Do they really except the average person to spend $1000 on a phone, even $799 is still a stretch.

The amount of money a company has in the bank does not drive product pricing in the slightest. It's all about margins, and companies are judged by Wall Street and its analysts by a company's gross and net profit margins.

"Do they really except the average person to spend $1000..."

No. And that's why Apple offers several different iPhone models for purchase, similar to car and appliance manufacturers. As an example, I cannot afford a Chevrolet Corvette, but I can pay for a Chevy Malibu auto.

Gonna get the X 256GB, but wish they had an even larger model, one the same size as the Plus. That would have been a home run.

So what's so special about this thing that you can't do with an iPhone 6s or 8? Cool, it has a 5.8" screen. But it still runs iOS which means you can't do many useful things with it and it's treated and used in pretty much the same way as an iPhone 6s. A 2 year old device.

"Unless you have an identical twin" you see, TouchID doesn't care about that since even identical twins have different finger prints. So there's that. Now we're waiting for a price.

edit aaaaaand it's $1000. $1000 for a ****ing phone. What a joke.

I really can't decide. It looks awesome but I really don't like Face ID. It seems like our engineers couldn't figure out how to implement Touch ID in a timely manner so lets make up some nonsensical statistics showing how finger prints are stupid. Then a year later they'll back pedal like they did when they bashed Intel for years. I just want my 3.5 mm jack back. If they're not doing IP68, then what gives? Why the huge camera bulge? Make the thing 1 mm thicker!

Apple product demonstrations always show the stuff I might be getting in 3 years lol.

I really wanted to update to iPhone X, you know what? I still might get it in a few months.
But 8 Plus is 200$ cheaper, and honest to God what are the distinct differences that warrant such price hike besides the screen and that amazing poop emoji thingy?

Is there wireless charger bundled in? Heck I'd take Apple care or maybe Music subscription too?
I guess I will be waiting for the official reviews and the hands on experience, and I really had an open mind about face ID but it did fail on stage? Did that ever happen with Touch ID?

To be extremely honest, I wish I could just live off my iPhone 6 by just replacing the batteries lost 15% cycle.
But my 64GB 6 is filled upto the brim, and I don't think I can get without losing stuff.

There this funny feeling in my head that tells me 8 and 8 Plus might actually outperform the X, also the fact that 7 Plus would be really enticing now for its price.

What have you been smoking. It's not that hard to learn your mother how to use those gestures. Imagine a couple years ago that your mother would been using a smartphone. People forget how easily humans can learn new things. Even your mother probably. From tech perspective it's great how Apple are using the full screen.

She still to this day asks me how to do something as simple as copy files on her computer. Could she learn all the new gestures? Yes. But I wouldn't put it past her to get confused when she can't figure out where the home button went.

Does the new all-screen display look pretty? Yes. Is it usable? No. Again, quit drinking the Apple Kool-Aid.

Super excited for the X. Going to be a huge step up from the 6S I've been using for the past couple years!

Lets be honest anybody who thinks that the iPhone X, when you consider the alternatives, is impressive might aswell be handing over their cash to Apple without even seeing the phone. They were going to buy one anyway.

Here in the UK you can buy an S8 for £460 (yes you read that right) cheaper than the iPhone X 64gb. Four hundred and sixty pounds difference! Absolutely insane.

Crazy stuff. As in, you need to be crazy to spend 1400 francs on it. I think the Mate 10 will be sold for half that and it will be a much nicer phone, with a fingerprint reader, better camera, notch-less design, microSD support etc.

What I find the most impressive is all the levels of innovations that came into the iPhone in the last decade, from the original iPhone up to the iPhone X.
I remember my first iPhone 3G, I couldn't even add a wallpaper without jailbreaking it. And now, ten years later, we can do so many things. It's really a privilege to be able to live such exciting times.

It is nice that eyeglasses are supported.

It's not "nice" that eyeglasses are supported, it's essential. No one wants to take their glasses off to use a phone.

Do we know that sunglasses aren't supported? It's possible the infrared will suffice, for at least some sunglasses.

I have a question, please somebody read this:

They said the iPhone 8/8s has 25% louder speakers with more bass and stereo.
The iPhone X only has a very small speaker at the top.
They did not say a word about speaker grills at the bottom, because there might be not enough space.

What do you think. Is there a speaker disadvantage with the iPhone X.
PS: The top notch is horrible for photos and videos IMO.

That was my first observation. Why would they let videos play behind it? Just cut it off and leave it black. Worst aesthetic decision I have seen from Apple in a long time.
I hope Apple gives us the option of leaving it black if we want and I definitely want that.
