I love the design, but I have no idea what advantages I get with the X over the 8. I might have missed something during the keynote, but all I caught wind of was animated emojis and amazing front and back cameras.

What else? Especially if this is truly the future of the iPhone, then next year this design will be standard.

I can't believe this big crowd gathering around a... phone release! A p-h-o-n-e! What's next? A kitchen coffee maker event? GEEEZ... Humanity is going backward and fast. And this "we make peoples life better". I'm sorry Apple, you DON'T make my life better. And no phone will, ever. Neither an Apple TV or watch will. Pfff, still can't believe this. An iPhone mass with a priest celebrating the coming of an iPhone on earth.

The problem is that you're still calling it a phone. That's like calling your car a chair because you can sit in it. It's an always-available super computer and high-end camera in your pocket. It can tell you the weather, run applications, play videos, play music, remind you of appointments, tell you where to drive...the phone is probably the least impressive functionality on the iPhone at this point. It's a phone in name only.

Question is who grabs their phone not looking at it? If you think about it, like never....
Every day in my car when it is in my pocket. I hit the Touch ID and unlock and summon Siri to override my car Bluelink. This allows me to dictate and listen to messages. FaceID can't be used in my situation, unless I pull the phone out and look at it when driving which I very much do not want to do.

That first demo of Face ID on stage with Craig was a total bummer. "Here, let's show you just how easy it is to use Face ID...errr, let's go to plan B and enter the passcode." (My paraphrase)
Yeah, Craig probably thought to himself after why didn't it work like it did previously 7 out of 10 times.

Samsung played Apple. Apple copied the S8, made it better....though apple fans prefer the iPhone 7 or any before it due to home button and touchid .

Mistake apple. You just gave up your biggest advantage and over priced it at the same time.

The note 8 is much better value, at least that still has a home button

My next phone, but I will wait for next year when the price comes down (and if it doesn't, I'll just get this year's). And hopefully by then they'll figure out not to be dumb with fullscreen videos.

I wonder what will happen to the iPhone 8's new beautiful glass back after you drop the phone for the first time???
It'd be pretty stupid to bring out such a device if the back glass cracked the first time you dropped it on the sidewalk. The glass is supposed to be super strong--they mentioned that, and I take it to mean that it's not so easily broken. But, hey, we'll find out next week with iPhone 8. Everyone will be doing stress and crack tests on that phone--front and back--and posting them on websites.

Everyone complaining about the top notch and FaceID....Everyone still buying the X over the 8 PRICELESS......

As usual, the engineering feats are impressive in all of Apple's products. However, aside from the AppleWatch's health uses, in what way has an iPhone improved One's quality of Life? What must-have ability did smartphones create?

Personally, I found the practical implications of today's advancements underwhelming. Pre-6 phones had shortcomings that compromised their use. Since then, the phone has been good enough. Frankly, I'm relieved that there's no compelling reason to upgrade. I can finally get some mileage out of this expensive toy I already own. In fact, if the new AppleWatch doesn't rely on a phone, I may ditch the phone altogether and use a watch instead.

Does FaceID work with sunglasses? I’d go no, but not sure if it was covered.
OFC, because faceID works with 1000000points from your face..
faceID in iOS11, continui from 5 to 5 seconds scanning the user, if its not you, it will lock the phone

Hopefully in next years iPhone we'll have the option to use all three (pin, Face/ Touch ID)

I haven't posted on this site for quite awhile, mostly due to the ignorance and immaturity of so many of the users here... and it's sad to see that it hasn't changed one bit.

For all of you who didn't get what actually happened; FaceID did NOT fail in the presentation. Just like TouchID, if you haven't used it for a few hours, then you have to unlock it with your Passcode. And that's exactly what happened in the demo (it even gave that message on the screen of the iPhone; that you must enter your passcode to use FaceID.) Always so much FUD here anytime a new Apple Product is released...

As for the Notch, yeah, I have mixed feelings about it, but I will actually wait until I can see it in person and have hands-on experience with it before making any judgments... you know, like a reasonable person.
Even if this is true (and I don't know if it is), it doesn't matter. They f'd up big time. They have a new way to unlock the phone and it didn't work the first time. That's a monumental screw up, whether or not the technology works.
