I smashed the screen on my iPhone 7 about a month ago. First time I've ever cracked a screen in the 9 years I've owned an iPhone. I've been holding off getting the screen fixed thinking I would be getting a new phone next Friday, but it looks like I might have to bite the bullet and get it repaired now...
An iPhone 8 won't do?

Wouldn't they need some kind of top bezel anyhow to house the hardware? I love that they actually ended up saving space by using the sides, but absolutely hate that they are not blacking out the ears.

Exactly! The UI changes I was expecting, a blacked out top bar or the use a quick black to transparent gradient.

Looks nice but way too big, I hope they one day give the iPhone SE the bigger-screen-slightly-larger-body treatment, till then it looks like I'll be switching to Android for a non-phablet flagship phone to replace my aging SE.

Oh, no...It's Face ID Failgate. Where's the slide to unlock, headphone jack and keyboard. And there's still no animated dandelion on the lock screen. This thing will never sell. :):):)

So, it won't be possible to unlock the iPhone X while driving (or at least it will be VERY dangerous). Now I can send a message with Siri without looking at the phone, just pressing the button, unlock with Touch ID at that´s all.

They could add unlock using voice identification.

LMAO....really. I have not missed it, not once.
Have not used corded ear pods since I got the Air Pods. Always got tangled in wire before. Glad they got rid of 3.5 mm jack.
I rapid charge with lightning to UCB-C cable and 29 watt power adapter. Below 70% I get one percent charge increase per minute. 15 minutes gets me 15%.

Have drawer full of corded ear buds and adapters. Never used em once.

There is no way I'd buy one of these until its been proven in the field. I think Apple is taking a very big risk abandoning the TouchID for FaceID with no backup plan. One of my favorite features of the iPhone is TouchID. They just removed it. It would have been better for them to introduce FaceID while still leaving TouchID there somewhere... either on the back or side... as a transition device. I am expecting its not going to be as slick and quick as TouchID in its first iteration. For that reason alone, I would not buy one.

And as an FYI, my Surface Pro has facial authentication for Hello Windows and it works very well, so I'm definitely not opposed to facial... its just that I don't know that its as good as TouchID for a phone. I have to handle the phone to pick it up, so using a finger is not an extra step really. I can just imagine it getting confused too when i didn't want it to wake up and unlock.

Que all the people that said wireless charging is all gimmicky. But now that it's on the iPhone it's better than sliced bread

Imagine if Steve Jobs came back to life and said, "and one more thing," and out pops Tim. You can just hear the ughs!

The BS, utterly self-congratulatory pseudo-benefactory tone of this was revolting. If Tim Cook believes half of what he says, he is delusional.
Apple as benefactor. Please.
Apple as humane, boon giver. Try not to laugh.
Apple as anything other than a pretentious, hypocritical cash machine, not so much.
Time to start looking around for other options.
Ones without the self-righteous nonsense of Apple.
I will try to learn to deal with Windows. Because this crap is intolerable.

Wrong! I'm an Apple fan neglected for years by Apple and the reality distortion marketing from Apple isn't working for me any more. Just comparing products by specs, possibilities and price. What's your excuse?
Same here. Apple's losing a lot of their core fans. I still use the products, but the excitement is gone. They are good products, but not much fun anymore. And I hate how they lose some of their aesthetics, esp. GUI.

Impressed that Craig didn't throw the iPhone at the off-stage tech staff after the Face ID glitch. Although this may have been appropriate for the inauguration of the SJ theater ;)

they could've easily integrated TouchID into the power button like Sony has it...

But they couldn't sell you a dongle then... ;)

Take them off, no. Lift them, yes. And I don't imagine you'd have to do it *everytime* you used your phone. It depends on how you set the lock screen. If it shuts down quick, then yes, you'd have to lift off the glasses a lot. If you set the lock screen so it takes a long time to shut down, then you wouldn't. But yes, if you're a person who uses their phone while wearing sunglasses more than using your phone without sunglasses, then iPhone X probably isn't for you.

My 7+ requires a fingerprint if I turn it off and back on again. I don't believe there is a way around this for touch ID, although I think you can delay it with the passcode enabled. I would assume if Face ID is a replacement for Touch ID it will function the same way and Apple will force you to unlock the phone every single time you power it off and on, even if there is no delay. Of course I'm just guessing based on what we have today.

But it is kind of scary to explore that thought, if you wear sunglasses the iPhone X probably isn't for you.

What if you are an international spy but your head has been reconstructed to make you look like a Russian dignitary?

What if you are a serial killer who wears the faces of your victims and you can't take a call from your mother?

What if you have an accident and have to replace your face every morning with Lego?

What if you're Rorschach?

So many problems...
What if you are Nicolas Cage in "Face Off" ?
