Apple decides SUNGLASSES don't exist.

"If your eyes are closed or you're looking away it's not gonna unlock." - Phil Schiller
I don't think you and a whole lot of people who upvoted you understand how sunglasses work. The iPhone X has an IR camera. IR cuts through sunglasses. To the iPhone X, your sunglasses just look like any other pair of glasses. Not sure why this is so difficult for people to understand? It's why remote controls have black plastic over the IR transmitter and yet still work.

I'm impressed that the next version will have 4.3 billion transistors.

That's probably more transistors than my Mac Book Pro.

Perhaps it's time to release a laptop without a processor, GPU, memory or hard drive. You use your iPhone and it broadcasts HD resolution wiressly to the screen and use bluetooth to access keyboard and trackpad. Even power could be sent wiressly. The benefit is that your programs and files will be with you all the time

Since the shell will be cheaper than a full computer, you could have a shell at home and one at the office, no need to carry the laptop back and fourth to work.

iPhone X is such a boring design Apple, c'mon. It looks like the first iphone minus the bezels. Display doesn't even get close to the "edge". Really disappointed from a design perspective. Who cares about how you unlock a phone. Yeah!!! Only 1/1,000,000 people will be able to unlock your iphone X with their face but what are the odds the average person ever loses their iphone AND some bad guy tries to open it?The people have been duped. Now the Watch Series 3 on the other hand is something to get excited about!!!

FaceID seems like a real boon to customs officers and law enforcement that need to get into a suspect's phone. Instead of a passcode or pattern, just hold it up to the owner's face. Voila, unlocked!

What I was afraid for. The notch actually intrudes when watching videos or full screen photos and indeed hides a part of it. It was even demonstrated doing that. Really bad.

This is almost a trillion dollar company. This does not happen.
It does. Apple makes mistakes all the time. And this is an extremely tiny one in comparison to some of their massive mistakes like Bendgate, Antennagate, Apple Maps release, firing Steve, etc.

I also call BS on their claim a face is more unique than a finger print, how often do hear I seen someone that looks just like you.

I have always thought finger prints are all different

And when I need to ask another human to unlock my phone, this will be a concern. Since it's an incredibly-advanced computer deciding what I look like, I'm not concerned.

What happened to Apple? They used to be 2-3 years ahead of the competition. Now they are 8+ years behind? Palm had inductive charging since 2009.

Apple is dead.

Robbery: Okay, so your phone is sitting on a table or something and a person snatches it, slides up, points it at you. You just sit there? No, you're trying to grab your phone back, not look at it.

LE: Ignoring the legal argument for lack of a warrant, they can just stick your finger to TouchID if they are violating your rights anyways by forcing you to look at your phone without closing your eyes or looking away. This doesn't even count the new iOS11 SOS feature to lock the phone down.

One could dream up dozens of scenarios for and against. I err on the side of caution and not chance. I want the option to have to make a face to open the phone or be able to make a face that requires a passcode. This should be possible with the existing hardware.

My 7+ requires a fingerprint if I turn it off and back on again. I don't believe there is a way around this for touch ID, although I think you can delay it with the passcode enabled. I would assume if Face ID is a replacement for Touch ID it will function the same way and Apple will force you to unlock the phone every single time you power it off and on, even if there is no delay. Of course I'm just guessing based on what we have today.

But it is kind of scary to explore that thought, if you wear sunglasses the iPhone X probably isn't for you.

I think you have it in reverse. Your phone requires the passcode when you power it down, not a fingerprint.

I was in front of my Apple TV with an uninterrupted 100mbs connection, but at least 50% of the keynote was unwatchable due to delays, hangups, and video/audio that was not synced. Nice job Apple.

Kind of hard to get excited about these new things when they can't even get this right.
I watched on my iPhone 7 Plus via wifi service from Verizon Fios then via AT&T LTE, and then back on Fios as I got out of the shower, got dressed, walked the dog, fixed lunch, ate lunch, meandered around the yard, and had a flawless viewing experience. I'm not negating your experience, because I had terrible problems like yours last year on my iPad via wifi and had to switch to my iPhone with my wifi turned off, so I empathize with your frustration. I'm just wondering myself why I had a bad experience over wifi last year and a great one over LTE. ??????

I work with Apple. Whenever a new device comes out or even before it's announced, I simply ask them and they make sure I get whatever it is on launch day.

People may scoff at your comments, but this is honestly how it works for business accounts. They get you what you want.

people saying it failed the first try didn't see what was wrong with it. it was the "you need to type in your passcode before faceID will work" message you get when you turn off/on your phone or make changes to your touchID settings.

sadly people will see and believe what they want to.

my biggest concern is now law enforcement can unlock your phone really easily.

so who here has been put off by the price and is skipping?
I wasn't gonna upgrade this generation anyway because I have a 7 and I'm perfectly happy with it for now. But unless the iPhone X successor brings back touch ID, it's not gonna be an easy decision to upgrade next year. That's a lot of $$$ for a device which is not the "no-compromise" flagship phone it should be.

Watched the iPhone X product announcement today. You just have to love MacRumors.com. They got almost every detail about the releases right. If you don't mind being Spoiled this site is awesome!

Will it recognise you if tied down with clockwork orange style eye restraints on ?
