Yup, it's a nice deal. I help sell millions in product for Apple and in turn they hook up some free product for use and testing. Every company does it.

My thought is that Apple is charging a premium for the X model because of its significance (being the 10 anniversary phone) I would GUESS that next years and the years to follow, iPhones will settle back into a price point we are more accustomed to seeing.

Currently I can unlock my phone with one touch of a button. Why does apple think it's a good idea to have to pick up your phone and look at it to unlock? Which btw, is not really discreet if you need to be. And I guess you can always type your password in, but that requires at least 4 button presses. And if you have shades on and you'd like to use face id to unlock then it becomes a two handed job. Not sure what they're thinking other then it's "something new". The maxim "if it's not broke then don't fix it" is very appropriate here.

For FaceID to fail during the demonstration....Steve would have FIRED the entire team involved. I remember how intense he was about the first iPhone unveiling. Everything had to be absolutely perfect.

That aside, I’ll be preordering my iPhone X as soon as it is possible to do so.

I don't understand why the notch isn't part of a black full-width status bar, and videos/everything cuts off at that line..

It wouldn't be perfectly symmetrical in landscape mode, but it would be prettier.

Something that could be easily added in a future firmware update.

Wow. TIL.

I've been to a few of the top clubs here in the United States (mostly in Vegas and Miami) and never once been subject to anything like that.
Haha yea, it seems to be a Berlin thing.. because they want to encourage people to go absolutely wild in there you know? No stupid selfie orgies to disturb people from all sorts of activities :D But seriously, it's worrying, I wont be able to unlock my phone!

I really wish you to be excited for your new xiaomi phone...not how others people phone can't sell.....it's a logic I get you, it's sad but I get it...I think
Let me ask you this. If you are able to chose between two products where one product has better specs, less bezels, super Amoled screen and same quality build but cost around $ 500 and the other with inferior tech around $ 800. Which one should you chose?

They could add unlock using voice identification.

That's not possible. Not with iPhone X. The person is right that using Face ID while driving will be dangerous as you have to look at the screen to do it. One sneaky reason why Apple wants you to buy the Watch for phone calls on it while driving. It's a case of creating a 'behavior dependant' need on a feature. I'm pretty sure that part wasn't well thought out for drivers who end up owning an iPhone X and need to access text or whatnot by voice.

Trust me. I use an SE and tried to access certain apps using Siri or even navigation. The phone had to be unlocked using Thumb ID. There's no way around it.

See the problem?

I think you have it in reverse. Your phone requires the passcode when you power it down, not a fingerprint.

Why would I power my phone on and off constantly like that? I mean simply when I press the power button, and I guess the more appropriate term would be put my phone to sleep. When it wakes up it requires touch ID instantly, but with the passcode I can set a delay. I am assuming face ID will work the same way as touch ID.

They would get dinged for making an S8 or LG V30 clone. They gotta be Brave™

Yeah, the iPhone X is pretty underwhelming to be honest. And as someone who has used Windows Phone for the last 1/2 decade, I really don't see things like "swipe up to unlock" to be revolutionary. In fact, I find the touch to wake to be more of a pain than a good thing.
Those who used windows phones in the last decade know they were useless :)

You can swipe along the bottom to go to previous app and keep swiping through all open apps. It was demonstrated in the keynote

That's app switching same as seen on Palm Pre. There is no swipe to go back inside the app or to previous screen. You still have to tap the <Back on top left corner of the screen which kind of doesn't make sense since Apple wants your gesture at the bottom of the screen.

I suspect the 10th Anniversary phone will return as iPhone 11 next year. iPhone 8 is probably the last in the series as Apple is now jumping into the Face ID era. I wouldn't be surprised if they do it.
It's gonna be very interesting to see how this affects the iPhone line up moving forward. I think $1000+ is too much to be their only phone, so I would imagine they would need to continue offering a flagship phone at the $700 price point. I don't see them offering the iPhone 8 and iPhone X this year, and then next year only offer a successor to the X. I don't know if they means next year the X gets a significant price reduction or if they just continue to upgrade all three phones into their respective S models, and keep their displays as the differentiating factor.

Also, from a marketing standpoint Apple needs to eventually move away from their number system. This is probably their chance. Also, they can't release the iPhone X now and then a few years down the road, release the iPhone 10.

I found it ok, less disapointing then last year, the X looks cool & seems to be a hot tech playtoy, yes the Price is crazy, but it's 1gen, nothing for the working-class except your a tech freak who can't wait. I think next year coud be like this year 9 retina and a XI S-retina and then with XII in 19 all phones have S-retina... I'll upgrade my 5s to a 7 maybe and then go for a XII, i use it mostly for what it Name says, Phone ;-)

For all you lucky guy's with enough money in your pockets, enjoy it..... ;-)
