More graphics power than an XBOX? Are gaming consoles now in the Apple cross-hair? Sounds right to me.

Sounds more like a marketing gimmick. Doesn't matter if you have more graphics power than a damn NASA lab computer, what matters is how you use it. People will be able to say that they have more graphics power than an XBOX, still doesn't mean anything.

Phil loves to perpetuate the idea that an iPad is going to replace people's computers. We don't really live in a post-PC era.

Depends on whether or not your world consists of short memos on Word or not. There are def. some people where a computer is overkill or a hinderance just as there are some jobs where a computer is mandatory. But the price of the 9.7 iPad Pro makes it a solution for no one. I mean I'd love to be able to handwrite notes on my iPad with the precision of a real pen but a $1000 note pad is laughable. (32GB is worthless and there is no 64GB option). I suspect people who want to draw on their tablet prefer the larger 13" size. So who is the 9.7" version for?

I can't see this replacing my rMB + iMini4 LTE. Might work for some but that cost is a bit "high".

There's a loooot more to it than that. Technically my old iMac has a better GPU (well, higher GPU specs) than the one in a PS4 and yet it can't run games at that quality.
Very true indeed. Yet Apple specifically dropped that statement in there. Never has it made any reference to consoles, so they did this for a reason. Actually I was surprised to hear it on the ipad and not on the Apple TV. Apple is slowly testing the waters and trying to figure out how to encroach on the console market. I think we cannot take for granted the statement made.

Things are getting fragmented. iPad mini, iPad Air 2, iPad Pro, iPad Pro... mini? which is an iPad Air essentially. As for the iPhone; iPhone SE. What will the next one be called? iPhone 2 SE? I don't know. Apple's naming convention has spiraled. The protruding camera on the iPad Pro mini is stupid. Have fun writing while it wobbles.

Everyone saw this version coming the minute the 12" one was announced, which is obscenely huge for most consumers. This was always going to happen and anybody who bought an original iPad Pro should have been prepared for that.
The funny thing is this is nothing new. We all know there's a new one coming... every year. Early adoption is a double edge sword. You get shiny and new but have to realize shinier and newer is right around the corner. Can't have one without the other.

I don't understand people, most of you were happy too see an iPad upgrade now you are complaining, listening to the people here you so hard to be satisfied. Pretty much this blog and others spoiled all that was coming putting all the information a head of time. We do not know when Apple will upgrade the Mac Pro line at this time unless we have more leeks, just hold on tide. And stop winning......

I really tried to be excited today but no. Just no.

More pixels, slimmer, faster, lighter, ultimate PC replacement (what?), 2x more sound (really?), new watch bands (wow)...

Just some blunt marketing talk, nothing really interesting or inspiring. Such updates should be a basic yearly thing without all the hype and cool "let me loop you in" taglines trying to make us believe it's something truly new. Just a basic update and not even a real up-to-date one. Here, enjoy a "new" product with a dumb name, old design and still missing some features other products had since last year (that's your new iPhone SE).

If you can't come up with something truly great, then just relax and do your job. Update (properly update) products on a yearly basis and show something great when you're ready. Such events only damage your image and stock.

While Apple will play these dumb games with selling limited or crippled products to its own loyal customers someone else sooner or later will take its place. Looks like they do anything possible to turn people off. Why no 3D touch? Why SE? Why raising price for iPad update? Ok, we got more speakers and something like true tone screen. CareKit is promising but I have little hopes they will turn it into a real useful thing. Apple Watch could be a bomb with sensors tracking your health, suggesting, alarming about possible issues, being a real smart assistant instead of just "get up every hour, make some steps today and here's your medal". Everything needed to build such thing is already there, it's not a sci-fi tech anymore. What is missing is a will or vision to take and assemble it all together. Someone here proposed a smart idea with EarBuds incorporating some health sensors, but it will take 100 years for Apple to even get to this idea.

And one that might be wobbly if laid flat because of a protruding camera? I agree with what you wrote. People often buy tech that is overkill (tv contrast ratio/resolution, camera megapixels, etc). There is without a doubt, utility with the iPad. I just believe that Apple's "stance on post-PC has always been nothing but rhetoric to sell the iPad. We don't live in a post-PC era. We still very much live in a PC era with options.

If I can sell my iPad Air 2, I'll buy this, but I doubt I will be able to.
Just listed my pristine iPad Air 2 128GB on Amazon. :/

What a load of crap for 13" buyers. My god. 1.2MP front camera on that honker and then now a 5MP AND iPhone 6S camera on the back. What a load of crap and way to shaft buyers who shelled out for a 128LTE model without BAND 12 support from Tmobile - only now to realize you have a 256GB model for $20 more AND band 12 LTE support from Tmobile.

F-You Apple.

That is crap on the memory bump. Should give some sort of rebate to the early buyers.

Many folks I know also do. They are sick and tired with dealing with corrupt file systems, trying to locate documents, and are sick of dealing with MS Windows. Look, the technology world expands many generations now, and I am happy that we have so many different options to choose from. The iPad has opened up stress free "Post-PC" world to the majority of users, outside the tech-geek bubble.

The people I know that tried to use an iPad as a laptop replacement actually had higher stress levels due to the lack of a mouse, limited software, and lack of a file system. In the end, they all decided that for very basic things, it could do in a pinch but was nowhere near ready to be a laptop replacement at this time.

I laughed too. It can't be a PC replacement if it doesn't crash and have viruses.

Well then it's a PC then! I cannot count the number of times I have experienced Safari crashing, apps crashing and actually springboard crashing. Also, I keep seeing reports of malware in apps although I haven't been affected that I know of. All products have problems and Apple is not exempt and not significantly better than anyone else.
