Depends, if the engine is off?I'm pretty sure that's illegal in almost every country; at least video apps are.

thankfully Apple made this whole ordeal super confusing and difficult to do 😀Thankfully, it isn't up to you to tell people what they should or should not buy, or should or should not expect to get out of the hardware they buy.
sounds like a massive fail for the user experience
"hey you want our app?"
"yeah but I don't see it on the App Store"
"nah you gotta go to the website and download because we want more money"
"terrible"
"oh and type it correctly or else you might go to a scam site"
this is so stupid

You say this like it’s a badge of honour. It’s not.Well, Apple has to pay the fine and comply first. It will take years before the decision comes. Even if the decision favors Apple, it will be useless by then.
How can it be like the Mac when the EU fined Apple $2 billion because they believed EU iPhone users wouldn't know that app developers have web sites? So like the Mac?
you mean like how Fortnite wasn't on the App Store anymore, people couldn't stand it? 🤣 your argument would have worked if it wasn't used against you in 2020.If your favorite app is not in the appstore, just do without.
already answered this question. So like the Mac?
Apple started with the most strict reading of the law
I don't think people who played Fortnite thought App Store was pretty worthless but here we are.
When they got kicked off, they lost millions in revenue.Epic already risked/left the App Store. Matter of time before others do.
I’m against government being this involved honestly because this is not 100 percent fostering competition.
In the case of search this is further giving google more power for example.
What do you think those other options are going to provide? Prices aren't going to go down because mobile is already the cheapest platform for apps.If that's how you truly feel then iOS developers and users deserve other options even more instead of being forced to only be able to use the undesirable App Store.
Still waiting for real side-loading. I want to be able to install my own software directly built on and loaded from my Mac!
Not even Epic would fall into that which is probably why they worded it like thatNice try, but "being a member of the Apple Developer Program for two continuous years or more and having an app with more than one million first installs on iOS in the EU in the prior year" isn't going to be accepted by the European Commission. These requirements still block new or small developers from exercising their rights under the DMA.
exactly how I would have done it as people's first impression will be a lasting one even if it becomes easier which results in people giving up on it.
You really don't understand the difference? One owns the platform the other doesn'tSo let me get this straight…
Apple’s App Store was a monopoly but Game Companies who create game stores that solely have their own apps in them is not an exercise of monopoly power? WTF?!!!! What was the point in going after the App Store if this is where it would lead?
What do you think those other options are going to provide? Prices aren't going to go down because mobile is already the cheapest platform for apps.
It's never been forced on anyone. Developers could look at the terms for iOS and decide not to release an iOS version. The EU doesn't care how many apps are deployed outside of the app store. Even if zero are sideloaded it isn't the point. The point is the consumer, and the app developer, should have that choice. It shouldn't be forced on them by Daddy Apple.
