Hard no...will use my AirPod Pro and Sony xm3. 780 cad.....should be max 500cad.

All of it I would dismiss, if it weren’t for audio sharing.
Having the kids share an iPad for a 10 hour drive is invaluable.

the lightning port is not a surprise but if Apple is shifting away from lightning ports on the phone, why not give us a little extra convenience in usb c? I have tons of those by now. The iPhone lightning is the outlier in my life. Not the standard. I’m not being pulled back in for that.

I’m half a step out of the ecosystem at this point anyway.

As an avid headphone collector (20 pairs and counting) I dont have one apple pair in my collection - not going to change now as these are fugly, overpriced and dont support any lossless codecs ?
Yes... $550 for SBC codec with every device other than Apple products (H1 chip and AAC?)?
I would consider trying them if they supported AptX HD/Adaptive and/or LDAC...

Maybe someone should tell Tim Cook there's a global pandemic and people are struggling financially.
Mostly people who were struggling financially before the pandemic. The rich are getting a lot richer. If anything, Spple should increase prices to appeal to those.

$550 American? Holy crap I just bought some Bose QC35s for $209 canadian a few weeks ago. About $165 american. True they were on sale but they go on sale multiple times per year unlike Apple products

While these are expensive three things will be 100% true!
1) These will sell like crazy and despite the price complaints many people here will cheerfully buy them so let's be real about it.
2) The people buying them (especially here) will report amazing sound and no doubt will say these are perhaps the best they've heard for headphones in this class category.
3) Many of the same people here on MR laughing about the price will be the first in line to buy them so stop pretending they are "overpriced" because Macrumors members know they will buy them.

Once again Mr Cook says: Why all these complaints about price, I don’t get it? We make these for the average Apple Music enthusiast.
Maybe we need to add a color Touch Bar, yes they love that on our MBP, that’s a good idea.

I don’t get the outrage.

$500 for headphones is nothing to an audiphile.

Audiophiles spend thousands. This price range would barely be considered mid-range. Something like Beyerdynamic DT 1990 would be around this price.
They also have a wire so you don't lose any fidelity over bluetooth.

Audio over bluetooth either has high latency or poor quality, pick one.

I would buy Apple's worse headphones before considering the Bose QC35's. IMO they are crap. No thanks.

With this price, my theory is they’re preparing for hyper-inflation with all the currency printed this year because then $549 wouldn’t be that much.

Guess the rumored right/left orientation detection didn't make it? Too bad; that was a novel feature and I was looking forward to seeing how it worked, at least.

$549 isn't a reasonable price point for me personally, but otherwise I might be interested.

That case, though... I'd never look at it and not think "lingerie."

Without having used this product, I can verify that they are overpriced. No amount of computational audio is worth more than, say, $200. Maybe $250. Why buy an overpriced M1 MacBook Air when you can buy a superior and more afforable Chromebook? Why buy Skippy peanut butter when Walmart Great Value brand is just as good and far cheaper? This madness needs to stop.

Are we meant to be impressed by $50 worth of engineering?

5 years ago I purchased a Sennheiser wireless headphones for $375. These have way more features than that. If these headphones also last 5 years, then I think its worth it.

Only question is, does it support Windows via bluetooth?

Go wired - try a "decent" pair of similar priced wired headphones and then try these for a laugh :) But for wireless you will be paying the apple tax for convenience. It will be interesting to see these pitted against half-the-price Sony WH-1000XM4
when they are out in the open. They wont win without lossless support on the audio front...
