I don’t get the outrage.

$500 for headphones is nothing to an audiphile.

Audiophiles spend thousands. This price range would barely be considered mid-range. Something like Beyerdynamic DT 1990 would be around this price.
Sure if that’s the market Apple is going after. But most likely they’re going to be compared to cheaper options just like the HomePod was. I will be curious to see who gets review units.

Wow, unless these are the M1 MacBook of wireless consumer headphones, those are priced OTT even by Apple's standards.

Without having used this product, I can verify that they are overpriced. No amount of computational audio is worth more than, say, $200. Maybe $250. Why buy an overpriced M1 MacBook Air when you can buy a superior and more afforable Chromebook? Why buy Skippy peanut butter when Walmart Great Value brand is just as good and far cheaper? This madness needs to stop.

Are we meant to be impressed by $50 worth of engineering?

So when the battery no longer holds a charge do these become as worthless as my first general AirPods? And no professional is going to use Bluetooth headphones, especially if they have “computational audio” it’s clear that these are meant for the iJustine YouTube influencer market dummy’s.
They last a whole long longer because the batteries are a whole lot bigger.

This isn't really new technology.

They are going to get pretty grubby in no time at all. Especially with that 'case'.

They look painful. Angled in at the bottom quite a bit, too much space at the top. Like the ear parts don't pivot, or pivot enough. And without a full case, that 'canopy' isn't going to last through TSA lines and hustling between gates. It must be made for those that have private planes, and can avoid TSA, and running. They are priced at that level too.

Yikes...

Apple releases a 60k 'pro' computer' 1k mounts, .8k wheels. What's the perfect accessory? $560 headphones with a bra case and no protection. Apple isn;t 'for the rest of us' anymore. That ended long ago apparently.
OK, you’re exaggerating quite a bit.
First of all, the wheels are not $8000, they’re $400 pre-installed, and $700 not pre-installed.
The Mac Pro starts at $5999, not 60,000.
You even got the price of these wrong, they’re not $560, they’re $550. Yeah, that’s just a $10 difference, but still.

Here in Sweden they cost 6 695 SEK with tax so it's about $740.
549$ * 1.25 (VAT) = 686$

Seems priced correctly to me (import tax, 2 year standard warranty additional cost and currency fluctuation margin not added to figure above).
