Yeah, you’re probably right but you’d have to ignore the fact that Americans gave us computing, the internet, the combustable engine, radio, film, telephones, helicopters, flight in general, the polio vaccine and 10,000 other cures, nuclear power, automobiles, HVAC, modern finance and the damned Dewey decimal system ….. just off the top of my head. Oh, and America saved the world from communist domination and pulled Europe's ass out of the frying pan twice at tremendous cost in blood and treasure. Also, without question, America is the most generous nation on earth. Actually, if you think about it in a non-biased and clear headed way, America is actually pretty smart, brave and generous.

You know an empire is dying when their citizens have to resort to talking about 100 years of past (arguably incorrect) history to convince people they're still great... The past, is as they say, in the past. It's the trends that are important, and good lords, look at where the Titanic vessel that is the US is headed.

Time to turn off the lights and close this sucker down, "this thread is dead, Jim."

Looks like someone got triggered…

Ok well.. America, the land where every invention ever just magically popped out of a cheeseburger wrapper. Flight? America. Internet? America. Cures for diseases? Definitely not the global scientific community, just pure, unfiltered American genius. I mean, forget the rest of the planet’s contributions.. if it didn’t happen between Walmart and a Waffle House, it doesn’t count, right?

Let’s unpack this myth of American exceptionalism with the tiniest pinch of reality.

The combustion engine? German. The telephone? Invented by a Scottish guy who moved to America. Computing? Ask Alan Turing..uhh.. British. Nuclear power? A team effort, led by European scientists, many of them fleeing from the chaos America eventually showed up late to stop. The internet? Born in global research labs, not just in someone’s garage in Ohio. But hey, if Americans used it first, that’s basically the same as inventing it, right?

Now onto the “America saved the world” routine. The U.S. entered both World Wars late, after a whole lot of other countries were already on fire. In WWII, the Soviet Union took the worst of the casualties… but sure, let’s pretend the U.S. parachuted in like Captain America while everyone else was just helplessly flailing. History books must be really short in some places.

And the average American? Absolute intellectual powerhouse (lol) if we’re grading on a curve set by a reality TV show. This is a country where millions think the sun revolves around the Earth, can’t name a single branch of government, and believe vaccines are a government tracking system.. all while claiming they “did their own research” on Facebook. But yes, definitely a nation of scholars.

As for being “the most generous nation on Earth”? Only if generosity includes bombing countries, installing dictators, and calling it “freedom.” Sure, the U.S. gives foreign aid, mostly when it aligns with its interests. And it gives less per capita than plenty of smaller nations. But hey, if you throw pennies at problems after causing half of them, that’s charity, right?

Look ..America has done some incredible things. But let’s not confuse national pride with historical amnesia. The world is a group project, not a solo act. And if America wants to keep its “we’re the smartest and the best” crown, it might want to start by getting its own citizens to pass a basic geography quiz… or, I don’t know, stop eating laundry detergent for TikTok views.

Well said! American "finished off" or commercialised a lot of these things but the scientific boom that led to most of them was led by the UK and other European countries around the time of the Industrial Revolution, and that work depended on the great scientists throughout the world long before America even existed as a country.

The only way Apple moves manufacturing back to the US is if it's fully automated, and it's not going to create manufacturing jobs in that case.

Manufacturing moves where it's more cost-effective. Tariffs are a way to make manufacturing more cost-effective in a country than normal.

It's a strategy, but people should not only focus on the manufacturing returning: they should focus on how much the strategy is going to cost them.

Basically tariffs are intended at least on paper to subsidize US manufacturing either directly or indirectly, but whether that's going to be a win depends on whether the gains will be worth the price.

Going forward with this strategy consumer prices will rise and then we'll see whether people will still think that's the right direction.

We will love it.

I kind of doubt that. The country is actually changing. For at least 20 years now, people who love America were afraid to say so. But now they are not. That's not just a groundswell, it's a movement of a mountain, and it should not be underestimated.

This actually IS sane. What wasn't sane was allowing 20 million people invade our country and crush our financial, health, and public service institutions. That insanity has stopped, and many are going back to their country of origin. And right there, that alone will afford the President a lot of goodwill once some of our institutions can go back to taking care of American citizens.

And that is the sane thing.

You keep going back to the "felon" thing, as if you think it will have some magical or hypnotic effect on the rest of the country. Most people now see that as a weaponization of the country's entire system of laws. A weaponization that COULD be turned on a citizen, like you or me.

As for "The Epstein Files", Epstein's own attorney has said that Epstein never kept a list, diary, or "little black book".

If Trump had ever had anything to do with Epstein and Epstein's crimes, surely the democrats would have used it by now. After all, they had control of "The Epstein Files" for 4 years while Joe Biden was President. Right? If it existed, I have no doubt that Biden's people would have paraded it out on CNN during the 2020 election season. And the Biden-then-Harris people would have used it AGAIN during the 2024 campaign.

But they didn't. Instead, they keep going back to their worn out "felon", "racist", "dictator", and "nazi" accusations.

It's all just bluffing. They have nothing from "the Epstein files" that would implicate President Trump. You can believe whatever you like. But just know that continuing to call him a "felon" isn't having the effect you think and hope it does. And the things they tried to do to that man...well, I sure hope some powerful politician doesn't try to do similar things one day to you or me.
Democrats had the Epstein files for at least 4 years. Specially the crazy far left side of the democrat party that hunted trump for over 50 wacky allegations before the elections with charges at various courts and ALL OVER THE country would never have any hesitation to release any kind of Epstein files if they had anything. Let them cope my friend. Some people can’t handle that US is becoming great again…… they prefer Latinos and Arabs to take over their jobs and life’s. Pure disgrace!

Yet, here you are on an American based forum based on products from the United States 🤦‍♂️

You’re welcome to join an Ericsson and Nokia forum to talk about how great they are. Oh, wait…they couldn’t compete and have been reduced to, essentially, a mere shadow of their former selves 👏

From your European high horse, do please to continue lecturing us. The world can’t exist without the trademark snobbery and elitism.
They aren’t American products. They are built in China. And will continue to be built almost entirely in China because they have the skills, resources, and capabilities that the US simply doesn’t. Really falling for that “Designed by Apple in California” marketing? It’s true Apple is based in the US. But it couldn’t function without its Irish tax loopholes and Chinese sweat shops.

Window dressing covering for the fact that they will never manufacture the iPhone in the United States because it's prohibitively expensive. It's all about appeasing the administration just enough that they can feel like they were respected and can claim it as a win for America. In reality Apple was likely to do this anyway.
No they weren’t lol

All of this came in the 20th century, when America was only the superpower in the world and basically was compelled to do this so that it could propel and bolster their own economy...

Do you have any modern examples (like in the 21st century) of America's ingenuity and generosity that has done more good than harm? The list is quite thin and short...IMHO...

Most of the good (in the 21 century) can be seen elsewhere in the world, not in America...hence why anti-Americanism is at an all-time high and American soft power is dwindling...

Serious question, do Americans factories also hang the US flag so prominently like houses on July 4? It's fascinating from a German perspective where you don't see the flag anywhere other than when the national team plays soccer.

So all those EU countries that had tariffs on the US for decades are fascist regimes?
EU had long time no tariffs, only import rules: no modified Corn, no flesh with hormones, no eggs. For foodsafety. That’s another point. Make America Healthy Again.

In a Wednesday blog post, Apple said it would spend $600 billion on hiring workers and buying from U.S.-based suppliers during Trump’s term, expanding a commitment made in February by $100 billion. Much of that spending will go toward regular business operations such as paying employees and producing TV shows for its streaming service.

“We’re a proud American company,” Cook said at the Wednesday event, where he also said Trump had been “a great advocate for American innovation and manufacturing” and gifted him a glass sculpture of a silicon wafer mounted on a 24-karat gold base.

🤮

We've gotten to the point where hate for one guy is enough to try and poop on the fact that an American company is investing $600b in the US to create a bunch of jobs?
Not even close to that. The hypocrisy is just insane with Trump and his admin.
Did Trump have a large number of undocumented immigrants working for him while railing against them? Yes.
Did Trump have money hidden in Chinese banks while telling others to invest in the States? Yes.
Did Trump have his cheap crap made in Chinese while telling others to produce in the States? Yes.

How about leading by example? HE could have personally had HIS affairs conducted in the states and he'd not have noticed the few extra dollars it would cost
When are people going to take off the blinkers???

More political theatre and baseless LIES from the pdf, whilst the USA is literally going down the toilet. Amazing how places like Fox ‘News’ will just repeat his lies and BS which in turn the uneducated MAGA’s will, not realising that EVERYTHING done is in favour of him and his billionaire buddies for their enrichment. That and white supremacy. the American ppl will see none of this money or ‘investment’, all they will do is pay higher prices for everything, whilst at the same time having all their public services slashed. But ‘winning’. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Not just "the uneducated MAGA's" believe this idiocy is making 'murica great which is by far the most alarming aspect of all (textbook facisim).

I don’t care about the politics, but I do care that manufacturing is coming back to the US. It’s not so much about the jobs that will be created (which is great, BTW) but that there are real security issues with having some of these products made and assembled by potentially hostel foreign nations. Even chips made in Taiwan are at risk if China decides to invade. This isn’t just good for the US, it’s good for the world.

People need to realize it's all coming back to the U.S. This is just the beginning.
Lol……yes alienating your key allies and putting financial markets into a tail spin all whilst shamelessly lining your own pockets really is going to bring “it all back to the U.S.” just not in the way you think. You reap what you sow.

Amazing to see how far such a great nation can fall in such a short time.
