Is there a list of what is available with this service?
Agreed...I pay ~$30 for WSJ monthly now. It's a not-bad price for the WSJ alone, depending on how much of it you can access.
Before you delete the apps for your other magazines, I’d recommend comparing the content to Apple's. Not only is the New Yorker a totally different format, it’s completely missing entire features.Well for me the value is tremendous. I just canceled EIGHT magazine subscriptions that are all covered by News+ and it will also reduce to near zero the number of one off issues of magazines I buy at the store that I don't subscribe to.
THAT SAID...
Ouch the app kinda sucks.
1. Performance is slow and framerate stutters... on a brand new iPad Pro 11 inch with the A12X! Huh?
2. There doesn't seem to be an option to view the magazines as printed, ie. with the identical page layout to the actual publication... instead you MUST accept the heavily reformatted, and to me uglier, reformat of the magazine with some poor font choices in the table of contents etc.
3. There is no easy way to "favorite" magazines. The only way I can find right now to use the search tab to make a magazine appear by name then click the heart icon... if you are browsing the magazines by category, or alphabetically, or just see one promoted on the front page of the magazine section... you can select and read the issue but there are no options to favorite the magazine ANYWHERE. You can only access the favorite icon from the a text search. So, so weird.
4. Your magazines appear in a tiny strip across the top of the screen and you can swipe sideways across them to view more of your selections but it is beyond ugly and tiny leaving the bottom 80% of your screen underutilized. So un-Apple, viewing your list of titles is UGLY.
5. Right now we are only seeing the current issues. Ummmm? Fine but what happens next month, do the current issues disappear from our iPads to be automatically replaced by the new issues and I can't refer back? That would SUCK. I don't care if this starts "today" but moving forward they should always have the last 6-12 months available! I see absolutely no interface that is prepared for this right now.
The whole thing seems like the deals were brokered then they started working on the app like 3 days ago. It's a mess and embarrassing to Apple IMHO, hopefully this gets resolved quickly because I LOVE THE CONTENT, but hate the way it is presented and accessed.
A Shame it’s not available in the UK. I would give this a shot.
[doublepost=1553544091][/doublepost]I actually signed up to a similar service on a reduced price trial. I didn’t continue with the subscription as it ran out at the end of February because I was waiting for Apple’s version. I’m going to sign up again

This combines about 8 other subscriptions into one for me, and saves a ton of money. Definitely not complaining.
That doesn't sound pleasurable at all.i mean the deal is outstanding, but the app is just so bad. and magazine typography and how it is different from magazine to magazine is what makes them enjoyable to read and now it seems like all the stories from magazines are run through the same processor so Outside, Time, New Yorker, Cosmo whatever all look like the same font, same format wall of text with pictures inserted randomly between paragraphs. in other online magazine apps i've always had an option to read it exactly as formatted, almost like a .pdf of the magazine, and on an iPad i've always chosen that option and enjoyed it. i could understand on a small iPhone but there is no reason not to at least have the option on the iPad.
First of all this is blatantly made up.I just called the WSJ to cancel my direct subscription with them, which is currently running $15/month but was scheduled to go back to their usual price of $35/month starting in April. The customer service rep asked why I was switching and I told him due to today's Apple News+ announcement that includes the WSJ. He seem well prepared for this and listed a bunch of WSJ features that wont be available on the News+ subscription, things like crosswords and Lifestyle stories, none of which I use or read. After finally giving up on that he offered to lower my subscription price to $20/month. I literally laughed out loud for a few seconds into the phone. I asked why would I pay twice as much as News+ to get the same content I need, not to mention a bunch of other magazines I may read on occasion. He finally relented and I could almost feel his head lowering on the phone as he quietly said he would process my cancellation request.
I subscribed right away. WSJ makes it easy. As much as I read it’s 10 well spent. The video thing is a different story. That whole segment did nothing for me.
I would like to know more about the WSJ portion. My WSJ subscription just went to $20/month, and I can only access through a browser. If I have full access to at least the day's articles, I would be tempted. I have an iPad 10.5" screen, so large enough to use.
Safe to say your knowledge and perspective are grossly dated. You have no idea what you're talking about. The WSJ has broken countless news stories across a wide range of categories. Just look into a little story about a company named Theranos for an example. Their corporate board was stock full of corporate and political heavyweights yet they found out about the fraud at Theranos the same way WSJ subscribers did - by reading it in the WSJ. That story involved nearly a year of investigative journalism.
Only $9.99 per month to consume Tim Apple approved propaganda? What a deal!

I'm in. There are a half-dozen I was thinking of getting subs to alone.
Yes, I have a feeling that the young Apple crowd is not that thrilled. They seem to be targeting an audience outside their optimal demographic.
And... Older folks like me know that most of the writing is boring, tedious, and generally useless in everyday life. People will try this, but find after a couple of months that they are wasting $10/month.
Where do you check to see what is available?
According to this CNBC article, WSJ content will be limited. It's a not-bad price for the WSJ alone, depending on how much of it you can access.

Secondly - "the WSJ will provide only "a specially curated collection of general interest news from The Wall Street Journal" to Apple News Plus subscribers" - you will only get a selection of articles, not the full WSJ. The Wall Street Journal without the financial news is not the Wall Street Journal. Bit premature to cancel unless you only buy the WSJ for the politics and general news sections
