I'm curious why some people are so anxious to get their hands on this. Maybe I just don't get it but I don't know what I would actually use this thing for outside of telling time, especially considering that I'd have my phone with me anyway.

I don't think the Swiss have anything to worry about.

1) watch the keynote if you're ignorant to what else it does.

2) I'll pay you $100 if you can show me where Ive said the Swiss had to worry. not an unsourced rumor, but actual proof.

I just seen the dial action on the Verge and I don't like it. I like the body very much but the dial is old school.

A lot of people seem to be poo-pooing this thing, and it may in fact turn out to be somewhat of a dud- but before everyone jumps to conclusions and writes it off, it's probably good to remember THIS post, from right after the iPod came out...

"All that hype for an MP3 player? Breakthrough digital device? The reality distortion field is beginning to warp Steve's mind if he thinks for one second that this thing is going to take off"

Either Apple makes a Destro version or I won't even consider putting it on, let alone buying it.

Looks cool, but I'll probably hold out for the next generation about when the iPhone 6S is coming out (which is the next time I upgrade my phone).

Don't get me wrong, I love Apple and I am surrounded by Apple products, so far the best. I think the real beautiful thing of all iPhones up to 5 is that the are truly usable with a single hand (iPhone 4 was even better). Sadly that's no longer the case with the iPhone 6.

As for the watch... Well time will tell but for now it is just not ready (I mean, even if they were ready to deliver it tomorrow, which they are not).
No mention of charge duration (clearly something that they are trying to improve between now and release day) and more expensive than the iPhone they need to provide any functionality at all?
I am not sure at all about this one.

I thought it was kind of thick, until I looked at the watch around my wrist. It's a standard digital sports watch, and it's way thicker than the Watch. You can't really compare the thickness to the iPhone. Different product, different category.

As for price, I have an $800 watch that only has one function. So I will consider this one.

Also, that gold version is going to make Apple eleventy bajillion dollars.

That entirely depends on where you live. In NYC, 90%+ of women are wearing very bulky watches. By bulky, I mean the new Apple watch looks very slim in comparison. I'm sure the trend will catch on elsewhere.

I know women who wear men's watches just because they're easier to read.

what? a $350 watch isn't aimed at the $3000 market. by definition.

There are really only two markets for watches: Cheap & Not-Cheap

You're either the kind of person OK with dropping $100+ on a watch, or you aren't (in which case: off to Target you go).

So, yeah -- this watch will be competing in the space occupied by high-end luxury watches (especially the gold models).

... but I think that it is a bit expensive. It doesn't look better than the round motorola one though. I think Apple missed the memo on the whole health thing as well. While they may get a few people to buy this and start acting healthy all of a sudden, most of their potential audience does't really care about that.

where's your market research data that says most people aren't interested in health and fitness tracking? specifically?

seems many people dont realize that the starting price is $349. i cant imagine how much the "Exclusive" one is gonna cost

Wireless charging is revolutionary for me, for Apple.
Hopefully iPhone 7 will have this capability now that it's featured in one of their flagship products.

Too much money for an iPhone accessory... I'll wait until it becomes cheaper and round.

This was the killer product I was waiting for to pin fully to one ecosystem, and I think its an epic fail.

Its plain ugly. The Samsung Gear S even looks a better design.

Everything released today was overhyped and small on innovation. Phone sizes to match the rest of the market, phone design stolen from the 2012 Lumia 925 and a fat watch 18 months behind its competitors, and 30 years behind on looks.
