Great features and UI, but it looks ugly. I couldn't wear one. Shame it didn't look like the Moto 360. Thats a fab looking watch, crippled with Android Wear. Perhaps version 2 will look a bit better?

Hmm...seems like something Apple felt they had to do rather than something they wanted to do. I still think smart watches are a solution looking for a problem. I'll be curious to read hands on impressions. Not being available for Christmas is a bummer, especially if the reason was so nothing leaked prior to today.

A lot of people are going to die when they are killed for their 18K gold iWatch. It won't matter if Apple locks down the software--they thieves will just sell the gold.

I'm assuming its solid gold and not plated.

The app universe on the watch looks like a mess and not as beautiful as the iOS finder. I'd want someone to develop a 3rd party app with the watch kit to put some organisation into the app universe.

I think the phablets released today by Apple are the same. A solution stilling for the problem it's trying to solve. The world wants phablets and smart watches. Certainly does not need them. I think one day the need will come. But till then they will be simply vanity items.

Didn't like the design at ALL, but like most Apple products in person it will probably look and feel better. I'll at least look at it.

I wish it were standalone with no tie to iPhone. The market would have been huge. I really thought they would try to take a swipe at the fitness band and medical markets.

Fitness bands also don't work standalone (or have very limited functionality standalone). They also usually need an internet-connected device with which they communicate via Bluetooth.

I really wanted it to have integrated GPS so I could stop running with my iPhone. Other sports watches have this, so...not sure why they left it out.

The step-tracking stuff never seems accurate enough at all, and if I still have to have my iPhone (now an even BIGGER phone) strapped to my arm, what's the point?

Why would you strap your iPhone to your arm if you already have the Apple Watch there? Is GPS with the iPhone in your pocket not precise enough?

I'm wondering if it can stand alone for workouts. Like can it track your heart rate etc and keep it stored and then reconnect to the iPhone after. If it can do that that would be good enough for me. I bring my phone everywhere anyway.

I am wondering this too. And also wondering if one day it'll work with the iPad. If that ever happens I'll buy the watch ASAP.

I will by one, for sure. Love many many things about it, especially health/fitness related stuff. But I already see how outdated and thick it will look when the amazing :apple:WATCH 2 is released in about a year. :)

It's really too thick and screen bezels are also much too big. Of course, I understand it's the 1st gen device and the best possible with current technology. It just funny that I already dream about the second gen... :D

There were announcements between the countless dropouts of what they call 'live stream?'.

Live streams have always been spotty, so it's not that they didn't know there was work to be done in improving that.

But as with all things 'cloud', they failed miserably. Why should I trust them with anything else cloud-related when they can't get a simple video stream right?

not to mention the auto-Chinese translation that went with the audio. I couldn't turn it off.

And one more thing - not mentioning battery life and Cook specifically talking about charging "overnight" most likely means a day (not even 24h) long battery life. Really a shame. So bringing this watch to even a quick 2-3 day camping trip will be pointless. :(

Might as well just do this if the watch is wirelessly glued to the iPhone.

From Ricky Gervais.

The watch is totally wirelessly glued to your phone. So without your phone on you the watch is mostly useless. That kills all point for the watch for me. I wanted something for the times I do not have my phone on me. Unless I use it as a pure timepiece. But I have an iPhone for that.

I really want the watch. But without a way to use this without being wireless glued to the iPhone, no sale from me. A real shame actually.

Standalone it is probably as useful as a smartphone in airplane mode (of course with additional limitations because of the much smaller display).

The point is to be able to run *without* carrying the phone at all. Have you ever tried running in running shorts with a phablet in your pocket?

If your camping area is outside 4G/LTE signal then 99% of the watch's functionality is not usable. So your old analogue watch is looking better every day.

Because a gold Apple Watch is worth more than any other gold watch?

I purchased a Suunto Ambit2 some three months ago. I regretted that purchase while the Apple Watch's features were being presented. When I heard that it requires an iPhone, I couldn't help but slap myself in the face.
Sorry, Apple. You lost me with this product. If the watch had a GPS chip and a cellular data connection, I would have kept my regret.

And what next, are you gonna remove the dGPU in the next iteration of the MacBook Pro?

My only complaint with this great new product....

I'm left handed and I wear my watch on my right hand. Using the digital crown would require me to reach across the screen.

who cares? that is how it is for real actual nice watches.. get over it

I am using the old ipod mini with one of those watch bands that convert it into a watch. Its design is actually better looking then what they have come up with. That is the most boring design ever. Man after seeing so many sweet concept designs was that a huge let down. my old ipod mini watch cant do everything the iwatch can but its not 350 dollars either and good enough for me. I see nothing special about the iwatch. I will pass.

the concept it's fantastic. I am not crazy about the rectangular shape, but I will hold on until I see one live. It looks a bit thick but again lets see it first.

I hope it is waterproof and not just water resistant.

Wow, so ugly and thick. Wouldn't wear it if it was free.

Check out Tag, Maurice Lecroix, etc....it's actually quite fashionable in the watch world...I own 38 watches...I think it's actually nice looking.
