Haters will hate I guess. I think this is one of best looking products I have seen from Apple. I have zero complaints and love the various options, colors, design, it's just an incredible piece of technology in my opinion.

Standalone it is probably as useful as a smartphone in airplane mode (of course with additional limitations because of the much smaller display).

And that's the whole point. A lot of people don't want to have to carry multiple devices around with them. Now they have to, if they want the watch.

One device? Now we need 2 of them. I think Jobs understood it better with his one device speech.

i'm not sure how Apple Pay works with the watch. One of the big things about Apple Pay was that it used TouchID to verify it is you. The watch doesn't have Touch ID. Will that make it even more attractive for theft? Beyond it being an expensive piece of jewelry, now it links to your credit card and can be used to buy things without needing biometric authorization.

My guess is when you put the watch on you do a quick touch ID on your iPhone and then its set up to use as NFC payments. It will look for a pulse and as soon as you take the watch off the pulse goes and NFC payments stop

I will only be interested if it has a transfective display. I watch that cannot be used outside in the daytime is useless to me.

can anyone explain all the fuss about being within +-50ms accuracy?
is that such a difficult task nowadays to count time? i'm not being cynical, i honestly ask.

on a side note: why should one care about being that much on time? :p

what is this BS about it being accurate? All internet connected devices have accurate time because it syncs all the time.
It's hardly new.

I don't mind having another device... In fact I have my pebble on almost all the time. Having notifications on my wrist has helped me tremendously.

If the display was circular instead of square people would be drooling all over this. I wasn't crazy about it at first but then I went to Apple's website and looked at all the photos of it and it's definitely growing on me. It blows me away that they have so many different styles/bands for a version one product. I certainly wasn't expecting that out of the gate.

I'm curious, can you get traditional watches with a crown on the left?

No, but the crown is usually just for winding. I don't mind taking a watch off to wind it now and then, but taking off every time I want to use it defeats the purpose.

That said, many people have pointed out that the UI may adjust, like the iPhone and iPad to orientation, so for me the crown would end up on the bottom left.

Have to say, I wish it was more of a band or bracelet form factor, even if the display was similar. Looking at what the Apple Watch is; it feels like it's meant for a generation of watch wearers and not so much a new type of tech product to expand on.

It's a design failure

It's a clunky "iPod nano" on a watch band. Not elegant, imaginative or magical at all. Apple should be aiming for Todd Hamilton's designs. (Could Apple conceivably be up to something more creative in the future... "Apple Band"?

Not so sure. First the Beats acquisition and now this. I'm not impressed.

Easy solution

My only complaint with this great new product....

I'm left handed and I wear my watch on my right hand. Using the digital crown would require me to reach across the screen.

I would thing this is an easy solution. The Apple Watch detect orient ion and rotates the screen. Just flip it around. The crown would be on the bottom right and the other button above it. Not a big deal?

Wow can they make the watch any more uglier? If you do a search on "Apple watch", just about any one of the fake concept pictures looks better.

Problem is, a lot of those are totally impractical, like the "bracelet" or "brand" models that are like 2mm thick. Where the hell is the battery going to go? And the aspect ratio is just really goofy, being super tall and skinny, that just doesn't work for a lot of things. Concepts usually don't have all the details worked out because they don't need to. Therefore, they are often not realistic.

Moto 360 may be sexy round but it uses old tech, has crappy battery life and it lags.

I seriously doubt you have a Moto 360 given that it just came out and sold out in within 3 hours. The fact is the Apple watch can do cool stuff but the design is awful.

I wonder if people would rather buy a iPad mini 2 (when announced) for $400 or a Apple Watch $350 (minimum).

It’s nice… No seriously, it is. But…

its 2014. The tech for 4k resolution on the watch would have been more appropriate. That would have made the small screen feel so much bigger.

The design at first looked flat but the more I look at it, especially with the metal band, it looks really nice, simple and classy.

I thought they might anounce some sort of new chip for servers or Apple servers with IBM chips.
