Can someone please tell me if it's possible to turn on the Anti-Aliasing for CRT monitors? You know, the kind that's not over-sharp?

Here's a screenshot of what I mean:

Is there a CRT option in Snow Leopard (if not, is there an equivalent?)

That pisses me off! The U-T-D discs should b shipped/delivered on the same day as the rest of em. I mean, if it wasnt for the up-to-date program, I would have held off buying the computer (well, not with snow leopard's price. Would have if we're talking $129 tho)

I guess the free update (the $9.99 is supposed to be for shipping) isn't as important as everyone else...

Your still going to recieve it in the time they promised it would be released whats the deal?

I have the up to date order too.. and who knows it might actually deliver on friday.... but if it doesnt I dont care.. because im still gonna get it in the time promised...

Preordered on Apple's site. Hopefully it's all smooth with a Friday delivery.

That's what I was going to do until I got on Apple Chat Support. The rep told me that even though it says "delivers on 8/28", that's when it starts shipping.

Can mods please delete all related talk about currency? I'll be honest I'm from US and don't give a crap but even if I was from Europe... SL talk has nothing to do with currency. Please stop. A bold message in the first post warning about it would be nice

Now how come those that pre-ordered with UTD still says shipping: Sept.?

What a strange post.
Why does it offend you so much that people outside *gasp* the US of A are interested in how Apple arrived at their price?

Now how come those that pre-ordered with UTD still says shipping: Sept.?
And this is somehow more appropriate?

Lets Hope

Let's hope that 10.6 has been tested thoroughly and represents not just more efficient computing performance, but minimal bug computing performance!!!!

I always wait for the 10.n.1 update anyway but there is that pesky thing called reputation" and Mac's reputation traditionally has been...."it just works".

Lately, some software updates have felt more like the MS philosophy of "we are all a family of beta testers".....

Apples reputation has been undermined with releases that appear to have been less than thoroughly tested and rushed to market "half baked" (e.g. Logic Pro 9....a LOT of bugs reported on the Apple forum).

Fingers crossed.......please......"just work"

Hey Mods can you delete messages about U$ shipping 'coz I don't give crap about that - its got no more to do with SL than the prices people will have to pay.

Just sayin'

I'm still going to wait until probably this December/January before I purchase so that everyone else can find all the problems and they be solved before I install Snow Leopard

They also promised the world September. Its not about getting it a few days later, its about giving preferential treatment to the snow leopard shipments that make them money.

I vaguely remember the UTD for I think Tiger was a few days after the retail version was for sale.

You're getting a 20.00 discount to but you may have to wait a week or two...is it really that big of a deal? And, if it is, buy the retail copy.

Signature Required?

I ordered online this AM from Apple. Right when I hit the button to process my order, I saw something about a signature being required for certain orders, but I didn't catch the whole message. Does anyone know if a signature will be required for this delivery on Friday?

Canceled amazon order and ordered from Apple. Actually with my corporate perks (EPP) i was able to get the family 5 pack for $43 shipped.

It not like people getting UTD discs get some special deal, in fact its Apple who is getting the deal. Their sales don't slump on the anticipation of a new OS, since people only have to pay $10 to update

AHHH!!! why does Apple have to do this to its UK customers??? We have to pay more for Macs, and now Snow Leopard costs more.

no point upgrading for older MacBook owners, openCL wont work

But I just bought a £950 laptop, paid £7.95 for a UTD copy - certainly not spending another £25 on a retail copy. It's not a BIG deal but a bit annoying if, considering I technically pre-ordered in July, I get pushed to the back of the queue.

All MS fanboys and MS itself must be wetting their pants like crazy.

$29 for a new OS... I love owning PCs and having to pay $200 or more every time MS makes a better OS, which is generally a worse OS with more things to make it less embarrassing.

I'm still listed as being shipped in September (Up-to-date program @ $14 Canadian)

I assume they just haven't gotten around to updated the shipping time. Let's hope we don't have to wait longer for SL.

I was just about to order it but then looked at shipping. Ships: By Aug 28th Delivery: Mail (within 5 days after it has shipped) or carrier (extra 15€) (within 4 days after it has shipped)

If it comes on 28th to me, then it should ship today or tomorrow (it would be late anyway)

What I know and have heard from people here, Apple ships through slowest and cheapest possibility, FedEx Ground service (I guess). It'll be faster IF you pay extra. It took over a week for my iMac to arrive from CZ to Finland and the distance isn't big, maybe 3 hours with an airplane.

I've never been wronged by Apple! I buy retail, somethings with Developer's discount (usually hardware). Of course I am speaking of delivery in the continental U.S. Apple has a wearhouse less than 4 hour drive from me. The FedEx depot locally to me is less than 3 miles from my house. Retail Store is 45 minutes away from me too.

I'll let you guys know when I get mine. I'll be the first to complain if I don't get it Friday.

This should answer the questions for the shipping date (for the US at least), just received this email 10min ago...

Oh nice! I'm assuming that turning it off will give you "CRT Font Smoothing when available". I can't imagine that turning it off will completely turn off all anti-aliasing right?

Mate, you're in one of the highest taxing countries in the world - why is it Apple's fault that your government wishes to gouge every cent out of its citizenship under the 'illusion' of 'we'll take care of you' - reminds me of Reagan's nine terrifying words: I'm from the government and I'm here to help.'

Actually the price is quite a bit above the price it should have:

$29 * 7.1 (current exchange rate) * 1.25 = 258 SEK, in other words the price is 23% higher than it should be.
